i could watch that so many times and still enjoy the show, Agnetha rocks, blue eye shadow and all,and Frida`s dance moves, lots of energy, summer night city, and chiquitita, are really good too.
Studio studio Yes ABBA were the Best in The Studio Too But They were even BETTER LIVE - I was There - Recordings cant get the exact super consert sound - Take a watch at the people in the public - Iwe heard One band live who came close - ( and ive heard a lot - ) and that was Pink Floyd OK - ABBA were a Fantastic Live band to -
The studio version will give you a different feeling, however this is amazing and one of their best and finest performance. Madonna sample Gimme Gimme Gimme!!! in her 2005 hit "Hang-Up" for her Confessions on the Dance Floor Album.
Love this! This live version is better then most videos would be,the sound in this live song is as good as if it would come right out of a recording studio...starting with the masterful piano and keyboard skills by Benny Andersson...as always with ABBA,you also get their usual happy vibes, superb lyrics and a good well timed performance in general. Everything about these 4 is the highest top notch.
The official video for this song is awesome! 👍🙂🎼It was filmed in their recording studio in downtown Stockholm. The live version you are commenting on was at Wembley Arena,,,, where they played to 6 sold-out shows from 5 November - 10 November, 1979. They have a great version in Spanish "Dame! Dame! Dame! (Amor Esta Noche), recorded for their 1980 album, "Gracias Por La Musica".💓🅰🅱🅱🅰💓🥰
How many artists may their songs in other langauages like ABBA did? How many other artists do even need too? They were not just untouchable musicians, great marketers as well.
Frida was a dancer in her youth. I second the suggestion that you watch Hole in Your Soul Live at Wembley if you really want to see their rock and roll side.
What's quite interesting is that Frida had a severe case of tonsilitis during all the concerts on Wembley 1979. In fact she was quite ill during all the England concerts. It was mentioned not long ago in an interview with Benny who was quite impressed how good she/they sounded in London in spite of her being so ill.
Maybe it's like the worst kind of blasphemy that i actually prefer this version in front of the studio one 🙊🙈 This version has a more funky vibe which attracts me!
I'd recommend also live performances from Dick Cavett show 1981. "Slipping through my fingers", "Thank you for the music", "Me and I", "Summer Night City" with nice intro. It's a mini-concert.
If you are into watching them live I would suggest something different a few years before Wembley Stadium shows. Go for "why did it have to be me" and "Rock Me" from Australia (ABBA the movie) there is great fun and party for you I promise 😉
Oh god yes! Why Did It Have To Be Me is epic. Wish the single had been recorded like this! It works soooooo much better as a duet and Frida really knocks it out of the park!
Is the studio version video not available in your country? You should hear it - it's amazing. The video is basically of them in the recording studio with the boys on the mixing desk too.
Hi Dereck, i love your ABBA reactions, please go on with ABBA, you like the live perfomances, so look for Does your Mother Know/Hole in your soul, that blows you away..., i'm ABBA fan since the beginning, i know almost everythin about them, i hear a lot of music from other artits and bands, but ABBA Touched me, that's the difference... ABBA is the soundtrack of my life, their music helped me through all my life - happy or hard times, other phantastic ABBA songs are: Eagle, One Of Us, When all is said and done, If it wasn't for the Nights, Thank you for the Music, and another great Live song from Wembley: The Way Old friends do ruclips.net/video/ZM6T3QzcWhY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/u12sgKDr6lE/видео.html
Love it! If it’s live or studio recording- it’s one of their best songs! My TOP 3 of ABBA songs to react to: Summer Night City - live Wembley As good as new Lovers (live a little longer) 😄😄😄
the tour manager said that abba wanted the best material for this tour that was available on the market at the time, they wanted to transfer the quality from the studio to the stage
Madonna wears a costume like that in her Confessions Tour... there she does a tribute tu disco music... You should react to Erotica Live at The Confessions Tour
I am seeing your channel for the first time Dereck, some great reviews. 👏 Plz consider Abba singing "The Way Old Friends Do" from this same Wembley concert. It came out so good they put it on their next album. Thanks. ✌️
To this famous song ABBA also made a very successful Spanish version translated as "¡Dame, Dame, Dame, amor esta noche!" that you must listen ... Another detail is that Madonna used the sample of this song in her hit "Hung Up".
They well knew that they had to 'take it by the horns' and big it up live in the enormous Wembley Stadium (1923), as visible in the 'Live Aid 85' footage. Sadly for many of England's football fans, this was demolished 2002-2003 and replaced in 2007.
Their live performances from Australia contained in their film Abba-The Movie were best in terms of a live performance. Subsequent tours were much paired down in terms of instruments etc and you lose that distinctive Abba sound. The Australian tour recording had full orchestra etc and best show them live. Only limit being no songs written beyond 77. The Girl With The Golden Hair mini musical segment would be a good one to watch.
I enjoy this version, but I also enjoy ERASURES version as well. It's really great hearing a male vocal with the lyrics "gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight"....😍
My fave ABBA song. I like the studio version better though. This one is too fast and that keyboard parts are not quiet. The show itself is great of course.
Rather odd you cant find the official clip. Seems freely available. Gimme is not really a rock song as somewhat displayed in the concert version. Best to see the original.
This is my favorite ABBA song ever and even though this whole live concert is, as always with ABBA, highly enjoyable, nothing compares to the studio version. The particular sound of this main melody is magnificent and can't be matched live. I know live renditions are supposed to be a little bit different than the studio version but when sounds are perfect like that (like the main melody on Super Trouper too), you HAVE to use the original studio sound, even live. I know that they can't take their whole studio machines on stage but to replace this perfect sound, especially by a weaker sound like the one used here, is just a crime against pop. Perfection shouldn't be tempered with. :) In your favorite Abba songs you mentionned Voulez-Vous and Dancing Queen. I know Dancing Queen was a number 1 in America and it is a very nice song but I really don't understand people's whole infatuation with it. I like it too, I like all Abba singles but Gimme Gimme Gimme, to me, is a thousand times better than Dancing Queen (and even Voulez-Vous but I must admit I have a soft spot for Voulez-Vous that I really don't have for Dancing Queen).
This is a bit too fast in the tempo, I Belive its a video with this from the studio. And I am going there tomorrow. Its intact I hear, Will be magical.
Interestingly this video is patched together from at least two different performances. Biggest giveaway is nearer the end when they go from chorded mics to radio mics and back again within a few seconds.
Wooow, was für ein cooler Song!!❣Brilliant vorgetragen von Agnetha 👍👍❤❤Abba for ever ❤❤
The amazing thing was how these two women could controlled and synchronised their voices and they listened as one voice
They sounded as one.
amazing how good they sound live, almost like the studio recording
The voices of these ladies made you feel good on the inside.. 🙂
Something very underappreciated by today's generation from the music of that time: the bass lines.
Summer night city on webley has the same rock feeling
That song is my jam!!!
i could watch that so many times and still enjoy the show, Agnetha rocks, blue eye shadow and all,and Frida`s dance moves, lots of energy, summer night city, and chiquitita, are really good too.
Wait till you hear the studio version ...
You definitely neeed to hear the studie version. It kicks ass :)
@@geofffield6655 technically i think that's a mashup with some other video. Could be summer night city actually.

Another Smash Hit By ABBA! Timeless! Gimme More For Sure!
The cool thing with ABBA is that they never let you stoic. Look at your smile!!
Love this! This live version is better then most videos would be,the sound in this live song is as good as if it would come right out of a recording studio...starting with the masterful piano and keyboard skills by Benny Andersson...as always with ABBA,you also get their usual happy vibes, superb lyrics and a good well timed performance in general. I have been an Abba Fan FOREVER! . I would love you to sample Many ABBA songs as possible. You WILL be BLOWN AWAY!
You should react to ABBA live at wembley... the energy is amazing! Nice video!

@@krisa990 Yes👍🙂Other than their native Swedish, and of course in English,,,,, they recorded versions of their songs in Spanish, German and French.🎼
Ahhh!! Another great ABBA reaction from you! I am looking forward to them every evening here in Sweden
Me gusta en el vivo

You should react to their wembly performance of hole in your soul, u wil be am2 with the mad vocals of Agnetha and AnniFrid in that performance!
Totally agree!
You must watch and react to some Live ABBA from 1977 Tour !
ABBA was a studio band not a live band, but I have to say that they did it very well Time / Opportunities!
por una eleccion familiar

No autotune here!
i love abba♥️♥️♥️♥️thank you
You should checkout the Japan leg of this tour, Frida is smoking hot! "If it wasn't for the nights".
Frida was a tremendous athlete and a great, great dancer
They exercised , danced, smoked, drank and had lots of sex. It was quite an intense decade.
Maybe it's like the worst kind of blasphemy that i actually prefer this version in front of the studio one 🙊🙈 This version has a more funky vibe which attracts me!

How good was that ? Wow !
I'll take a man any time of the day, not just after midnight.
yeah me too.
You should react to 'Does your mother know' and 'Hole in your soul' from that Wembley concert. You're gonna love it.
You can't go wrong with ABBA.
Is the studio version video not available in your country? You should hear it - it's amazing. The video is basically of them in the recording studio with the boys on the mixing desk too.

Just go on the ABBA RUclips account. All their official videos are on there! Loads of them!
For some reason, the video to "Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie" is not available in the states. :/ Don't know why, but it is!
the tour manager said that abba wanted the best material for this tour that was available on the market at the time, they wanted to transfer the quality from the studio to the stage
My fave ABBA song. Love the Erasure cover too.
The official music video is very disco. It’s pure ABBA gold.
It's great and all, but the studio version is where it's at, instrumentally.
i was there at the concert
You should watch ABBA the movie, recorded on there Australian tour in 1977
Dereck, I'm afraid you'll just have to dig up the official video somewhere. The studio version is a monster.
Moore abba plz!!
try "He Is your brother" from 1977 live
Muy buena música ABBA la mejor ...
You gotta duo a reaction to the studio version - or better still ¡Dame! ¡Dame! ¡Dame! - the Spanish version!!! xx
Now you got video, back than i came from,we had LP.,billboard charts that it.
The studio version is worth your reaction .. Madonna sampled the hell out of it for a good reason :)
You're so right! 👍👍
Live, London, Wembley. You can't get any higher!
Madonna wears a costume like that in her Confessions Tour... there she does a tribute tu disco music... You should react to Erotica Live at The Confessions Tour
just do a reaction to the live version of knowing me knowing you just amazing
Do ABBA Australien tour, the fan over there were crazy..
I am seeing your channel for the first time Dereck, some great reviews. 👏

Merci pour ton analyse. Je suis fan du groupe abba depuis 1976.
Where are you come from Dereck ?

you should see i have a dream by abba
I enjoy this version, but I also enjoy ERASURES version as well. It's really great hearing a male vocal with the lyrics "gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight"....😍
If you didn't go to a party/disco in the 70's & 80's where ABBA music was playing it was a boring party
Dame dame dame amor esta noche
Why not ABBAS Spanish version -Dame Dame Dame
👏👏🔝🔝
Dereck , any chance you could react to Get On The Carousel from Abba The Movie - Brilliant!
Listen to THE EAGLE BY ABBA.
you should react to the spanish version of this dame dame dame
u should react to the studio version and u should react to voulez vous too :)
Agnetha's vocal range is on display here. An editing glitch where microphones change to wireless?
No!!! You need the official video!!!
My fave ABBA song. I like the studio version better though. This one is too fast and that keyboard parts are not quiet. The show itself is great of course.
You have to do Money money money next...
Hope you can react to song still, born to be alive.
Please could you do a review of Dusty Springfield at her Best with `In Private` on the Dame Edna Everidge Show.?
Yeah the song's good, Abba are great but I prefer the studio version.

Interestingly this video is patched together from at least two different performances. Biggest giveaway is nearer the end when they go from chorded mics to radio mics and back again within a few seconds.
That's because the girls moved to raised platforms where they used radio mikes & when they came down again they used the stage mikes.
Malcolm Brown some shots on the platform show radio mics, others show chorded and back again. It’s edited footage.
The intro is "Madonna - Hung Up"
