Nice wrap-up! It would be cool to do a whole history video on digital books and ereaders. That'd be interesting for sure.

Really, great observation! My Nook glow light is still working since 2013🙏, and I like it and still enjoying this beautiful device!!!

Thank you for bringing me back to my childhood! I had the 1st edition from 2009 and the Nook Color, but ask me where they are today lmao. I wonder if I found them how they'd still hold up today 🤔 but that new Glowlight one is calling my name

Great video. I hope the new plus sells great for them and puts them back in the game. It has stuff that Amazon STILL hasnt done yet. Namely the audio jack and color changing light.

Loved my nooks over the years, eventually jumped ship to kindle since they have paid less and less attention to their nook division over the years.

I loved the first nook edition! It was awesome for that year. Hope they restock the new plus soon

I have an original glowlight in mint condition and my wife has a glowlight plus from 2015 in also perfect mint condition. I have no reason to upgrade since the Nook works just fine for my ePub books. I convert all my BnN or Amz books to ePub as soon as I buy them. But I always look for non drm version of the book if I can find it before going to the two major sellers. As long as the books are displayed on my Nook Glowlight I don't see a reason to replace it since I don't know how much of a better reading experience a new device will provide. Letters on a eink screen are letters on an eink screen in my opinion. And I like the design.

    Great research and video.
I've had the Nook Simple Touch & with Glowlight. I he simple touch without the Glowlight is my favorite this far.
Had the Glowlight with squishy sides.
Now holding out for a 2021 version.
I like Barnes &Noble ecosystem. And I am heavily invested in the amount of e-books I've accumulated over the years.
Now I have Kindle Paperwhite 2018 and looking forward to a new Nook.

The BN Simple Touch was the first and the only ereader I own. I am waiting to win a Goodereader contest to remplace it

I loved the Simple Touch with Glowlight and still have mine. One of the best ereaders ever released. With the Simple Touch and the Simple Touch with Glowlight B&N was on top of the game. I think the 'bar of soap' Nook Glowlight is where they lost their way.
The 2015 Glowlight Plus is a really nice device. The 'kitchen tile' bezel feels good when using the device. I jump back and forth between it and my Clara HD.

That was the best verbal butt-kicking, with grace, that I've heard in a long time. Congratulations, sir. I've learned a lot from this presentation. Thank you.

If it was not for nook branded Samsung tablets, i would not have discovered my preference for Samsung devices. Barnes and Noble hardly ever ever gets in store business from me in store. I do most of my purchases through the nook app.

My fav was the Nook Simple Touch w/Glowlight. It had the page buttons, backlight and an sd card. I just bought the Glowlight Plus, and while it’s nice, it’s a little sluggish. I also wish they’d bring back the sd card. The advantages that the kindle has are Matchbook pricing and being able to email a book to your device. I think B&N could kick ass if they’d pay more attention to features the users want, instead of whatever the hell their strategy has been in the past. The “tablets” have been total losers.

It is an alternative to side-loading an eBook to your kindle, and very handy. 😜

Are you able to sideload app on that and how about low resolution? I have old kobo aura and found it very limited and thinking to get nook for ability to install kindle/play book/manga app

0:11 I'm sure it's just the Nook service that started in 2009, and B&N had been around for much longer than that.
2:10 Ah… secondary (or middle) school memories… of one of the teachers having owned a Simple Touch herself. It was unclear to me whether she actually used the Nook service, or she hacked it to run Android tablet apps, though, but I remember she did have a deck of custom screensavers there.
4:26 Oh right! The Nook Tablet didn't initially include Google Play Services, but received those through an over-the-air system update! And then users would find a Play Store icon had showed up in their apps menu.

Also in re to the Samsungs The ASUS Zenpad 8" had the same nook software but it was hidden in the widgets menu so I pretty much made it into a nook tablet. The white nook with the copper back I loved until they changed the software on it to match glowlight 3 then it stopped working right and was no longer useable. I love love my new 7.8 Glowlight so far. Now if they added audiobook access it will be perfect. Sorry for bad sentence structure and spelling. My keyboard sticks and hard to type on it

What is the link to buy? here in Brazil I do not find, I do not think it's for sale yet. Could they make available some virtual store link to buy Sony E-reader that big?

that first Nook is still ,iMHO, the best looking ereader ever made. esepecially at a time when the kindle looked like some horrific Radio Shack hand helfd game from the 80's Also should we expect you to rip Amazon a new because they released a bunch of Fire tablets? of course not Amazon gets a free pass by the way at least with nook tablets you get the Google play store the Amaon app store stinks and is so much more limited in comparison but it's amazon and you guys will praise them no matter what.

Who the hell designs these devices? Honestly, they're actually awful. Those thick frames around the screen are unbearable. All we readers want is something similar to a real book, not a pack of plastic. And don't tell there's still no available technology to do so.
