Well done Mav, thank you........mine has just arrived. The footage I shot yesterday with an XL on the screen was bouncing all over the shop. Virtually unuseable. Can't wait to get this new XL pro mounted up and test it. In general the Xl's are up to my requirements and I'm pleased.

Brilliant little video. Thank you. I've just bought the XL Pro after an angry car driver knocked my XL off my helmet - so this video has been a great help showing me some of its features.👍
Thanks for the comparisons and settings.
I just wish reviews like this would place the importance of following instructions for initial setup as alot of people complain about battery of either and probably never followed.
Thank you for this great comparison !
I have the XL since the beginning of the year I ordered the Ghost 4K+ to have a second pov. defective USB socket to send back, suddenly I will surely take the XL PRO !
Nice comparison. Looking forward to your vlogs with it and looking forward to using mine.
Fantastic bloody good quality that. Thanks for the vid
Thank you very much for your video!
Could you compare the picture quality at night? I think this comparison would be much more revealing.
Wait, it CAN do stabilisation on 2.7K! I was under the impression that it was only available at a max 1080p/60. Excellent! I have mine but have only done a short test with the default settings so far.
😍I love the look of the pro .. definitely an improvement ..Cracking review / comparison video as always 🤘
Thats a great way to show... same shape size better insides. AND... IT DOESN'T MAKE 2 Different files for each recording !!!!
Just out of interest are you talking about the THM file it creates? You can turn that off in the menu.
@@baconbiketours9166 no the Ghost x makes 2 movie files plus the thm for each... a Large movie file and a smaller file
Nice comparison on the 2 camera's mate both look quality tbf but I'd deffo go for the pro 👍🏻
Really helpful video thanks.
Well gotta say mate the color looked more vivid to me on the pro glad I bought one do you recommend ant particular micro sd card cos I ain't got one yet and it did not have one with it . Also can I ask have you done a vlog on the best position on your lid for the Drift at all cheers : )
I use the sandisk 128gb class 10 card. Link to card below, I will make a video of the positioning.
Deal of the day: SanDisk 128GB Ultra microSDXC memory card+SD adapter. Up to 120MB/S Read Speed, Class 10, U1, A1 approved www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08GYKNCCP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dl_7TJR7EW4505MXE8QQQ67
@@Motourev That's brilliant mate thank you
Thank you for sharing. Do you think it would be suitable to use as an action camera for fly fishing? Sick of running out of battery with the traditional action cams. Could a mount be adapted to fit on the peak of a cap or would it be too bulky?
Good info! Thanks!
I had a Ghost XL Pro and it was truly dreadful. The battery would not hold a charge and despite reaching out to Drift on many occasions, and the fact it was still in warranty, they would not help at all. Their after sales service is non existent and, interestingly, you will not find an address or telephone number for them anywhere on their website!! I would highly recommend not buying one of these cameras but go for something like the DJI Oslo Action 4, a far better all round camera.
This looks amazing and I'm excited by this new model. I'd like to upgrade from my Ghost S which I've used for years as my main motovlog camera on my helmet. Is it possible to use the LCD Touch screen module for the Ghost 4K on the XL Pro?
No the XL Pro is a sealed unit. Even the battery is sealed in.
Has the xl pro got a dash cam mode like the xl?
Getting drawn to the Pro mainly for battery capacity but I think your results are very good in the areas of image and stabilisation.Thanks.Any thoughts on 30 vs 60fps.
Personally I prefer 60 for the sharper image but the trade off is bigger file size. Think I will get the 256gb memory cards for this. I normally record in 1080p 60fps but think I will move up to 2.7k 60fps
@@Motourev The image quality on the XL Pro is just "ok" (I'm thinking of using it on the bike) and I believe the files will be HUGE because you want to record at a better resolution but when you want to share the videos on streaming platforms (or just sharing), their quality will be drastically reduced even more so the videos will look like those recorded on a $60-80 rebadged Chinese camera!
And we don't know what are the file sizes and how long?
I think that I'll wait before taking the shot and see if manufacturers will come out with better solutions.
Just I don't understand why there are car dashcams with very good video quality at affordable prices but nothing for action cameras, can't they use the same hardware and technology in the action cameras??
Been happily using Ghost XL for over 2 years and now looking forward to get myself the XL Pro soon. Do you know where can I buy the lens protector?
The XL will record on 1080 for 9 hours. Will the pro do that?
Good camera just got one XL but how on earth by you charge it or play it via a P>C without the risk of damaging the door i.e dropping the camera while fitting the usb lead given the fact the door will not close with a USB lead fitted ?
Does it have stabilized 4k? The old 4k one didnt.
Cycliq Fly12 Sport or XLPro
Just bought a microphone for my ghost XL. I seem to be getting loads of wind noise , which is over powering my speech. Could you tell me what the best set up is for the mic. Btw love the channel and I've decided to do Normandy after watching your videos. Keep up the fantastic work.
Put mic sensitivity on 1, where is the mic positioned in the helmet. Also on the display on the camera can you see a mic symbol
@@Motourev I had it on 5 and to be honest it was like just having the external microphone. I've put it on 2 now which is better but still getting wind noise. Where is the best place to position the mic. I'm using on a normal fixed chin guard helmet. Thanks for responding.
@@squashed_helmet_face7317 I put mine ditrectly in front of my mouth but make sure it’s not an air vent. You need to close air vents and also most wind noise inside a helmet comes from underneath by your chin. Check things like having a screen on your bike, is it too low so it’s sending the wind underneath.
@@Motourev thanks for the advice. I think it's just going to be trail and error. Keep up the good work.
Hi mate. I have been looking at this new camera and have watched your videos.
I have had an XL for just over 2 years and it has been fine other than sometimes when i start recording the volume level differs between files, but that's not a big issue. rectified in editing. It was even fine when i was out in a couple of monsoons for hours.
I am thinking of upgrading to the XL PRO just so i can record at 2.7k 60fps with the image stabilisation on as on the XL my videos seem very pixelated at 1080p 30fps once uploaded to youtube. Would love to see an on bike video at 2.7k 60fps with image stabilisation on if possible?
thanks for the videos. I will see if i decide to upgrade after a few more weeks of these being out :o)
Hi buddy, 2.7k 60fps is going to be my new filming resolution. I normally record in 1080 60fps but decided to upscale now I have the XL pro. The audio is greatly improved on the pro too. The highest setting stabilisation can work is 2.7k 30fps. A tip for getting better footage on RUclips is in your editing software set the project to be 4K, although your footage is not 4K it will save as a 4K file. When uploading RUclips thinks it’s really 4K so it applies maximum quality 😉👍🏻
@@Motourev really❓️😲🤔wow I'll try that with my next video thanks👍😎
I'll look forward to your 2.7k video👍cheers😎
Brill video Craig, I can't get mine to do image stabilisation at 2.7k 30fps though, what settings are you running to get that mate, have you reduced the FOV or bitrate? or something? I notice on 1080 it won't do 140' with stabilisation on, just at 115'
Am I doing something wrong, as this is my first Drift? 🙂
I check mine and send info on messenger
@@Motourev I've had a play, and can get 2.7k50fps and 2.7k25fps with stabilisation, but not 30 or 60. Be ace to get 30, but not the end of the world if I can't as I'll just use 25 instead on the green lanes as it'll get more light that way too. 🙂
@@HippoDrones I will try in 25fps see if there’s much difference
Is there anything really wrong with the XL though? yes, XL Pro is better (that is the point). But, I don't think anything wrong with the XL.
XL is a fine camera and battery is only if it’s kind. Suppose more people want higher resolution these days
@@Motourev I want smaller file sizes.
So only 2.7k can be stabilised, not 4k?
👍🏻
Is the date time not shown in the recorded video?
You can switch it on if you want
have to say i cant see that much of a difference bit dissapointed was looking forward to 4k xl
@Dusty Biker. Once the xl pro is on the bike and filming motion, you will see a massive difference between the 2. As the Sony chip will cope so much better 😉
@@grossi46 there already is videos of it on the bike and its still only a little bit better
It really is better than the XL. Bigger sensor (also good for riding at night), different (better) chipset. Next to that the audio with external mic is much better. But it can be much better than this but Drift does not want to push image quality to the limits but battery life.
@@MotoSnax 100% agreed 👍. Just received mine today so having a play as we speak ( With the camera of cause 😉)
@@MotoSnax yea audio is deffo better and the battery life is awsome. i really do love the drift camera's but just want them to step it up more then they did. will stick with my 1 xl and dji osmo action till drift have a bigger improvement. come on drift u can do it but keep the form factor as its perfect
Which woul🎉d you go for bearing in mind I'm not filming for a movie and it's only the police and my crying family that are going to see the footage 🙂
They are helmet cams.
Test em on helmets, maybe?😏
Both terrible specs and faulty external mic connections
Had so many problems with mic adapter that! Is made exclusively with drift! They have been no help! I've purchased additional 3 in less than a year
What button do I need to press to save a particular videoclip if I am out on the road and something of interest happens and I need to save or "tag" that video clip?
I have the Ghost XL PRO.
Is it worth the extra £100 for xl pro if just making the odd video not running a channel 🤔
Would stick with XL in that case
Thanks was way I was thinking 🤔 I think I'd only use 1080 anyway be enough .
@@InterceptorSC yeah the XL is more than adequate
I have a Ghost Drift XL....don't bother: constantly glitching, refusing to switch off, making its own decision not to bother recording...avoid, avoid avoid. Garbage.
I'm not wearing that goofy teletubbie form factor on my head.
😂😂 bet you already look like a teletubbie
