Here is a look at the process of making Strawberry Shortcake. I loved Strawberry Shortcake growing up and the sweet smelling doll was always one of my favorites. She has had many remakes over the years but never one that still held onto her original aesthetic while giving it a modern twist. I hope that is something I was able to achieve in this design I did and I hope you like her new look. I show repainting her face, making clothing and accessories, and styling her hair.

She looks so beautiful. I love her hair color and her outfit is cute. I didn't really watch the show when I was a kid, but I did loved Orange blossom being the only black character she was my favorite. I'm happy that she has dark skin and natural hair again. I am watching the new series and I love some of the characters new design.
Thank you. I don't really recall watching the show either but I loved the dolls. I mean dolls that smell heavenly, what's not to like. I do feel like the original 80s art had a lot more variety in hair styles and textures. The 2000s revamp was very lack luster in that regards.
My sister and I loved the 2002 Strawberry Shortcake cast of characters (her a little more than I). I loved short-hair Shortcake- in a world where nearly all the girl characters had long hair, she stood out. Well, she used to.
I'd love to see the others in your style, honestly. I remember we loved (and had stickers of) Crepe Suzette, Coco Calypso, Huckleberry Pie, Orange Blossom, Tangerina Torta, Frosty Puff, Blueberry Muffin, Angel Cake, Rainbow Sherbet, Ginger Snap, and Almond Tea.
I had a lot of fun with Strawberry so I will definitely be tackling some other characters from the series.
Absolutely love this doll. I was obsessed with Strawberry Shortcake when I was little.
Some ideas for future retro dolls would be: Penny from Inspector Gadget, Cheetara from Thundercats, any character from She-ra, Teela, Evil-lyn, or the Sorceress from He-man, April O'Neal from TMNT, and Scarlett from G.I. Joe.
I grew up in the 80s so I'm loving this series.

I love the way you updated her! I remember when these dolls came out back in the 80s, I loved them all. Lemon meringue was 1 of my favorites. I could watch all of these be repainted 😀 Amazing work as always 💖

Strawberry Shortcake looks Berry Gorgeous especially her pet Custard! But her other pet Pup cake is missing. I love the Basket and miniature Strawberries they would look perfect for my miniself biggest garden project. I would love to see more of her friend's, see you next time. :D

I always loved Strawberry Shortcake and yours looks absolutely lovely!!! For the next Retro repaint how about polly pocket, heidi, or a character from she-ra, or a Strawberry's friend like Orange Blossom, or even a character fan/inspired by the care bears!

When people bring up Strawberry Shortcake, I also end up thinking about Lady Lovely Locks. I haven't seen anything about Lady Lovely Locks since the early 2000s, mostly because of the transition from VHS to DVD for home media, but I actually miss it. I remember being obsessed with everyone's dresses and their color streaked hair.
I had never heard of Lady Lovely Locks before, but I just looked her up and she has such a cute design!
You and me both! I always loved the style of her promotional illustrations, I am a huge fan of the old school chalk pastel work. I really love Sharon Knettell who did the original Jem box art. Lady Lovely Locks is on my to do list and she would definitely need a collection of pixie tails :)

I absolutely love everything about the comics! They did an amazing job modernizing it while retaining what Jem and the Holograms was. I love all of the stylings they used. Sophie Campbell is an amazing artist and the issues she illustrated were definitely my favorites.

I once had a dream where I was in a store in Thailand where I walked around the toy area seeing small cute dolls looking like the 80s strawberry shortcake characters but there was one there stood out to me, a peach themed one and I remembered it clearly from my dream even though I have never seen it before irl, when I woke up I was so confused cuz I had never seen it in my life, so I searched up "Strawberry shortcake peach character" and there I saw it, it looked exactly what I dreamed, it was crazy...

She’s gorgeous and I love how realistic the eyes look and how much depth you got into them. And the hair gives her a much more grown up look too ..The outfit you created for her and all the accessories are beautiful and finish her perfectly .. Yes you certainly updated a very long lasting Strawberry Shortcake doll. She’s been around for many years ,I know she was a tow when my daughter was young and she’s over forty now lol. And that’s in the U.K., I believe she’s from America if I am not mistaken and must go back longer than that. I love what you did to your doll ,but your dolls are always gorgeous 🥰

I have a idea to make curls use a hair dryer to dry the curls I’ve seen videos were they use metal chopsticks ouch so a hair dryer is safer.
Thanks, I do that sometimes but this hair stated to not use human styling tools unfortunately. About half of the hair I have can and half can't

It was a blend of a few colors. 1 oz of Sugarberry from Shimmerlocks and .25 oz each of Red Wedding and Truly Outrageous from The Doll Planet Hair. These are all high temperature nylon.

The original doll from the 80s always appeared more of a natural orange/red at least to me.
