I have the phone. You CAN activate the camera and speakerphone in either orientation. In either orientation, there are dedicated camera and speakerphone keys.
It has a 2.0 megapixel camera and were not sure of you can record and make it your ringtone but a lot of sign's are pointing to that but if not Verizon MAY send a download to upgrade it if they haven't already.
@musicfan137 You cant because its discontinued. But your still in luck, theres a phone called the "Samsung Zeal" its the exact same thing as the Alias 2. its basically the Alias 3.
I don't know if you're referring 2 me or collinsup. But with my phone that verizon replaced w/the alias 2. My battery would stop charging even though i had it hooked up 2 my charger. This same problem happened w/all 3 of my env phones evry time i recived a new 1. & yes Collinsup asurion is my insurance =S it was actually them who switched my replacement phone 4rm the LG env 2 the Alias 2. "I see that we've sent u 4 different phones, so we're going 2 go ahead & just give you a different one"
So wait...based on what you said at the very end...when the phone is flipped open in the standard phone mode, you CAN'T activate the camera or speakerphone??? That may be a deal breaker right there! You can ONLY activate them when it's flipped in the full keyboard mode? That sucks. I never use speaker phone in that mode!
I would recommend it... its really good. Its not that pretty but its not too heavy and it only crashes if u send a text at the same time u get one and ur phone is locked. itll shut off then turn back on lol. Its got a good battery too. And its like 30 bucks now

oh no!!! this is exactly what happened with my enV VX9900!! In a total of 3 years i received a total of 3 different phones because of the same problem (it wouldn't charge after awhile). And when i think back on it, it pisses me off because i had to pay $50 every time to replace the phone, when all the while it was a manufacturing problem!
@KiingOfTha864: Well those are smartphones... this is just a "regular" phone... I have a Droid Incredible, and love it... but I saw the Alias 2 in the Verizon store and it is definitely sweet ha ha. If I didn't need a smartphone, I would probably have this... sweet phone for sure.

Chocolate touch if you dont care about a physical keyboard, enV touch if you want touch + keyboard, and this one if you don't like touch screens and/or you want an interesting phone

i have had the envy touch for about a year now, but i just want something new. I'm about to trade for this phone. Envy touch is a great phone but i just get tired of having the same phone over time. lol i'm looking forward to much better battery life. and i think it is RETARDED that verizon makes you get data packages for even phones like this. I didn't have to get one on my touch, but now you do. STUPID!

You aren't, which is why the button shouldn't show. And as I pointed out, why does one beep when pressed and the other doesn't when neither works?

Get the Alias 2. My friend has the env3 and she hates it. It freezes a lot and turns on and off at random times.

enV Touch is more superior, but if you don't prefer a touchscreen, I'd get the Alias2. It's a td bit cheaper, too. So it just depends.
they're both EXACTLY the same price 99.99 they're both equally nice u can't go wrong both phones are great

i got it for 40 buck off of ebay :D it's neat, and im the type that messages/stores a lot of pics and music so this phone's just right for me.
