The instruments are : Setar( the one similar to guitar), Gheychak( the one similar to vertical violin), Kuzeh( Persian udu, similar to flower pot ), and Daf( the other one which kuzeh player plays) . The wave that you hear in the singer voice named Tahrir, which maybe I can say is small waves between lower and higher notes made by the singer, and you can find it all over our classic songs and even some modern ones as well, I am not expert in music, hope the friends who can explain better about "tahrir", help us here. The poem is too poetic to be translated, sorry, generally it is about love, how she is sad and noway that she can handle this sadness anymore and how much she has missed him,..... And thank you for your reaction.
Great explanation
Tanboor and setar and tar all became Gitar in new societies....
Thanks about the musical part, it was great, But about the poetry and the meaning of that, I have to be disagree with you, it’s poem Of shaikh Ajal Saedi, He was great Sufi Master and he was in the very Hight position in his order! So the poetry is about lover( not woman or man) but it’s about a love between his Master and him, to understand the meaning of Persian classic poetry nead to understand the Sufism and meaning of the words that has been used, than can translate them, any way to understand the translation actually need to know about the Sufi doctrine!
These instruments are grandparents of the instruments you know today...thousands of years...
Persian music and Language is out of this world ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Saadi Shirazi, is the greatest Iranian poet, his most famous poem in the world is BANI ADAM. The copy of this poem is at the UN along with the cylinder copy of CYRUS the Great, the first written human rights document in history.💖🇮🇷💖
Yeeees✌🏻❤😎
I guess Rumi is the greatest. I checked and nobody dared ro pick one as the greatest :))
Hafez, Hafez Shiraz is the greatest. Poet, Musician, and philosopher. He raises questions in his poetry. We consider him the 3rd Zarathustra in our culture.
There is not such a poem from Sa,di who was living 800 years ago in the UN door . It is fabricated by Pan-Farsism sect in Iran and poisoned Iranian people. That poem is very beautiful and meaningful: The humanity has one root. When one organ of our body is in pain all our body is in pain too. We people are as a body . when one person is in pain all humanity should be in pain too so we should take care of each other. Whoever does not help other people when they need help we cannot call that person a human.
one sample of those Pan -Farsism fabrication about Sa,di :
A famous verse by Sa,di adorns the entrance to the Hall of Nations on the UN building in New York:
Of one Essence is the human race,
Thus has Creation put the base,
One Limb impacted is sufficient,
For all others to feel the Mace.

@@jameskan9866 WTF are you babbling on about? What Pan Farsicm? There is no such phrase. You don't like Iranians/Persians, then don't listen to Persian music. Listen to Arabic, Turkic, Chinese or whatever the hell that tickles your fancy and leave us the fuck alone.
I am privileged enough to know the Setar player. Her name is Samira and she ,along with her partners, create wonderful music. Well done Samira and co!
Do you happen to know if there are any plans to record an entire album or was this song just a one-off?
@@MissLoonasSpeech I’m not sure if they have made an album just with this ensemble but I do know that Samira performs all over Europe with other Iranian musicians and their concerts are beautiful. I am hoping to attend their next concert in Europe :) If you search the names of the musicians in the title, I’m sure you will find all you need to know with regards to albums, concerts etc.
@@williamlilford2031 Thanks for your reply! :) After some online-research it seems that this videoclip is - unfortunately - so far the only collaboration of these musicians, so I can only hope that, one day, there will be more to come. I also found out that Samira plays together with Hamid Motebassem under the name Duo Damsaz. As for Mahdieh Mohammadkhani, I found another incredibly beautiful song titled "Moon and Mirror" here: ruclips.net/video/hhjvlgfXqXE/видео.html
These instruments names are:
1. Setar (three-string), the guitar-ish one
2. Gheychak, the Cello-like one
3. Daf, Drum-like one
4. Kuzeh (Jug), the other one
Setar has four strings actually. Don't let the name fool you.
Song by Saadi Shirazi (1210-1292) ... major iranian poet. one of his book Bustan has been ranked as one of the 100 greatest books of all time by The Guardian
From depth of history, pure, original, full of love
Believe me when you start digging Iranian art, culture, and try to visit Iran... you will be addicted to it, maybe nevet leave that land, i know many western people that live there now and never want to be any where else. Like richard nelson frye, read about him
Heavenly sound and such beautiful ladies, thanks Matt.
For me this is proper, proper girl band; oozing with talent and originality. Absolutely beautiful performance, and a wonderful, intelligent reaction by Matt, giving it the credit and respect that it fully deserves. Ps, yes the ladies are all beautiful too :-)
I'm Iranian and I'm proud of watching your reaction to art of my country.i wish this lines between people that separate us as different nation s some day Will be vanishes so everyone can feel each other cultures and learn from each other
I have goosebumps with this phenomenal voice. I’m proud of these woman from my country 🥲
The beauty of this kind of poem is that everyone has his/her interpretation that if it is about God, a beauty, or a lover, my crude translation:
No one has passed in my heart since I remember you
You do not pitch a tent inside me
The seal of my covenant ("Mandragora") is fresher every day
Even if you uproot the tree of friendship
Nobody will care about me if you throw me away
I am accepted by all if you accept me
Because you are a young face without a turbidity
It was a pity to break the promise of loyalty of friends
The burden of sorrow overcame the patience
How a few stones could resist
I have escaped from everyone, I have fallen in love with you
It will not be arranged what you scatter
O heart if his/her parting and the fire of his/her longing
Does not affect you, you are not a heart but a thing made of iron
I also came to you as an enemy and a ruler
Accompanies have no choice but to be humble
Saadi, what is the point if you do or do not show impatience
The hard bow will not care if you are a weak armor
This Ghazal is known as the "Mehrgiah" or Mandragora
thanks man
دمت گرم💯💯 thanks alot
good job man ! nice translation
This is purely Iranian/Persian music. The world middle east is a generic term encompassing the entire region of western Asia and North Africa. and the Arabian peninsula. Iran's music is the origin of all music in that region and beyond including Indian sub-continent, Central Asia, and Asia minor (modern Turkey).
middle east is a colonial term and reflects the wrong doings of imperialist powers at the time. only use western asia in connection with iran
Amazing ,
God bless Persia
The lyrics are part of Saadi's poems. Saadi is the king of love poems and actually the king of Persian poems. The lyrics here are about love "I love you every day every moment ... you are the only love of my life ..."
It is about LOYALTY TO THE LOVER
Matt, your enthusiasm and recognition of beauty in another culture is heart warming and wonderful to see.
Keep up the good work.
It is told that we have 9 very fames poet all around the world. 5 of them are persion. Roomi, Haviz, Saadi, ferdosi, and of course khayaam. This poem is from saadi. This man makes magic in persion language. His poems almost is about love. But what he did in his poems is something like Miracle. The grammatical structures, and the words he used to explain his feeling about his love and beloved is incredible. God bless him.
i am iranian it is about love from a poem near 800 years ago
the instruments are "Setar" and "Ghichak" ... and the lyrics are a love poet.
persian deep history , this is a example or particle of 7000 years culture and civilization
What a voice….Bravo.
Thank you for this amazing video❤️🕊
I know most people do not have any clue that music and instruments were created in ancient Persia …Tar is the great grandfather of guitar, Kamancheh is the parent of violin, Donbak or Tabl is the father of Drums, Chang is the mother of Harp, Santour is the grand father of Piano, and Ney and Gharaney are the original wind pipes…
Wow!Cool!Very beautiful music and voice! Thank you, Matt!Great reaction, my friend! Listen to Alice Supronova. Give a link?👏😲🇷🇺

Thank you dear friend for taking the time to post this video.
Most of the main instruments in the world are taken from Iranian instruments.
For example :
TAR father of GUITAR
SANTUR father of PIANO
KAMANCHE father of VIOLIN
AND .......
This is Ms.Marzieh from Iran , thank you for sharing our Persian music and commenting on it . This was performed by Mahdieh Mohammadkhani who is a female Persian singer .
They are very talented I love the music as an Arab with an iranian mother
Name of the instruments is, great grandfather of all instruments in the world, all of them inspired from those lands, first people established from those lands. When the people move and discovered ne lands naturally all the instruments slowly changed same as everything else, very genune reactions and beautiful music. Thank you
It was beautiful, the Wonderland of Persia, about 20 different cultures, but people of love, thank you very much❤
What a wonderful reaction to a beautiful song.
Thank you so much. As good of the song and all the artists are, you are so professional and knowledgeable yourself, it makes us to watch your reaction over and over.
Be well.
Thanks you dear Matt for your réaction 🌹💚🤍❤️ 🌹
the poetry is that of Saadi--about 780 years ago. i gathered that much
Lyrics are again describing true love: ghe plant of my love and commitment to you will never die out even if you take out the tree of our love from the roots.
It’s an Iranian mystical song. A divine love song.
A great music very calming love these ladies.
I think she says "I will not fall in love (with another) as long as you are embedded in my heart... As I sit and wait here patiently (for you) you are not even knocking on the door (of her home - implying he is not even aware that she exists)...
Nobody found a way through my heart as long as you float in my memory.
عالیه عالیه فوق عالیه موسیقی سنتی ایرانی very very goooood Persian
Perfect perfect perfect / thanks to you my brother ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Glad you like Persian traditional music Matt.that is a love song, all the complaints and heart breaks that come with love. Those ladies are very beautiful and talented. I am so proud of them.
Love it!
Please provide a link to the original video - thanks.
Hope you don't mind if I do: ruclips.net/video/rrR6UKg_8II/видео.html
You really describe my feelings about a song. I could not do that like you.
This is another all female group they perform an old love song from the Shiraz region - I loved it: Shahrzad Ensemble - Shiraz Folk Song "Balal Balalam"
❤from🇵🇱
Damn the singer was really into it; feeling what she was singin; felt like it came from real life experience... She has experienced loving and longing, I can tell you that
I invite you all to listen to this song "Mehrgiyah" by the absolutely beautiful sound of the Master of Persian music, Parisa. She sang this song with Dastan Ensemble. The poem is one of the best Ghazal of Saadi and its all about love.
Gheychak, the instrument witch is like Kamancheh is one of the oldest string instruments in Iran, Afghanistan and central Asia .
it is a Love song, poet is SA'ADI Shirazi (lived 800 years ago), some calls him as the best Persian Poet, and some consider him alongside HAFEZ SHirazi ,Ferdowsi and Roomi as the four pillar of Persian Poetry, any how he is one the most famous classical poets of Persian Literature.
He has one Unique talent not only he was a great poet, but he is the only classical poet, that wrote a prose book which is not earthly , so he reached to a level that has never repeated . The Prose Book is named GOLESTAN and his POEM Book named BOOSTAN. you can find his prose Golestan translated into English, you would enjoy it.
WOW Beautiful Thanks Matt
just lovely!
This was originally performed by the teacher of this singer Maestra "Parissa" much more masterfully. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/_3hDZLbsdgw/видео.html
Here is the link to the instrumental section of the same song in the same concert : ruclips.net/video/nm0NpOqrmro/видео.html

Beautiful!❤
Tanks may friend ❤❤❤
Thanks for reaction✨
Sa´die Sheirauzi is giving a testimony to love itself، its nature , and how it treats you as it behaves with or without your beloved in there. He uses metaphors that make it difficult to translate but here it is....
My version of it. a pleading to love
No one crosses my attention as long as you are in my heart. always in my breath though you never breathe into me. why?
My seed of love fresh as ever, may not if you uproot the tree.
I sought no one, daresay even you avoided me. And I pledge to you or without, if you do wish it to be..
your bright heart, so odd to turn dark on me. O´ pity how you break promise to me .
my patience down to its knees, how your pain burdens me. How withstand pillar and stone the weight of it?
To put faith in your love made a stranger of me. I will never be whole again if you let go of me.
O´ dear heart, in lack of it, burn of thirst to it, if none do you harm ? Made of steel must be your weapon of charm.
because of you I come to your door, one who rules in cruelty.
Yet the devoted is helpless but to submit humbly to your destiny.
that was great man ...well done👏.
Matt bro thanks for your amazing reaction i enjoyed it cheers✌
Barev artsakh. We love Armenia, everybody knows in the world💪💪
Since you've taken hold of my mind,
No one else can touch my heart.
Yet you never knock upon my door,
Leaving my soul torn apart.
Even when you cut down the Friendship tree,
The flower of my love remains,
Steadfast and endless, like the sea,
Unbroken by your disdain.
Who will take me, even for free, if you refuse me?
Yet if you accept, joy floods my life,
The happiest in both worlds I'll be,
(In this world and the afterlife)
It is a very rich poem about love. Fantastically beautiful.
Hi, this performance and all performances of traditional Iranian music, all musical instruments and rhythms, melodies and musicians are in the service of the poem and the way the singer expresses the poem. To get to the music of poetry or to get as close as possible to the music of poetry, that is, the music that the poet had in mind when composing poetry. So, the closer the harmony and beauty of the music is to the music of the poem, the more pleasant and beautiful it becomes. It is then that the content of the poem and the poet's purpose in composing the poem and what the poet wanted to explain to his audience. So you must be aware of Persian language and poetry to be a part of the song and perform the song. I enjoyed your interpretation and reaction, even though you do not know Persian. Thank you (SIYA)
just for comment.
the name Guitar contains particular part "Tar" which in the Persian language is used for the unit of counting hair and also refers to strings of musical instruments,
all kinds of instruments in Iran which are being played same as guitar is, has a name containing phrase "Tar" like the instrument in this video which is named "SeTar" which means 3 strings.
tnx for this music
6:47 Part of the lyrics: "It can't be recollected whatever it is you're spreading..."(love, a scent of a flower)
What is even more amazing than the song and music is that these ladies have formed groups like this in a country that women have been prohibited from performing many artistic activities, including music. Iranian women have been beaten, jailed, raped and killed for over 40 years to take their rights back to get to this point. Something that people living in free countries take for granted.
The lyrics are from Saadi, a very famous, internationally renowned poet, who lived 700 years ago
She's my god my favorite lady singer, she 's really wonderful
Beautiful
Lyrics are about remembering love she say how can I remember anyone else while you are in my memories or in my mind
If you put me out of your side who will get me oh my heart if the passion of his love doesn't effect you you are like iron you are not hearth but iron
Fabulous 💙🌹👏👏👏
Love you Matt from Iran.
The song is a Love song. The instruments are Setar. Kamanche, dayereh or daf, and an Indian percussion. Glad you are enjoying Persian classical music! Not exactly rap music,
7:00 "if the desire and longing to have her doesn't affect you oh Heart, then you're not a heart but of steel."
Thank you
The text of the song is from the famous 13th century poet Saadi Shirazi, which is about God ❤
C'est parfait.👍
I almost didn't understand a word even though I'm Iranian but I can tell you right now this few minutes listening to it brought joy and calmness kind of feeling..so thank you Matt. Oh and I think it should be nice to try it as background music sometimes! I will give that a try with glass of wine. :D lol awesome work bro
You seem to have taken your English courses more seriously than your Persian literature in high school!

These are the music instruments

I am doing everything to grab your attention but you don't look at me,
She loves him but he doesn't even try to love her......

Hello to all friends around the world
I am Mehdi from Iran
this is Lyrics of Mehr Gia by Delban Group
No one passed in my heart until you remember me
You do not pitch a tent inside me
The seal of my covenant is fresher every time
You uproot a tree of friendship
I did not take anyone away from you
You accept both worlds
Because you are a novel face without a turbidity
It was a pity to break the promise of loyalty of friends
Patience overcame the burden of grief
A few resist slow cubes and a hundred semen stones
I have escaped from everyone, I have fallen in love with you
No matter what you scatter
O heart if his parting and the fire of his longing
It does not affect you, you are not an iron heart
I also came to you as an enemy and a ruler
Relatives have no choice but to be humble
Saadi, what is the use if you do not give up?
Hard bow what a pity you are weak boiling
U r the best 👌 excellent review and reaction
Greetings from an ISFAHANIAN Iranian from GREAT PERSIA IRAN
This song is very beautiful ,i love it❤❤❤❤❤
The guitar like instrument is called a sitar that in persian we call it setar that means three strings . Also the lyrics are about a person complementing a lover in a lovely way
Sometimes you attribute Persian music to the Middle East, this is not the case. While it takes decades to get to know the seven forms of Iranian music. Music, Persian poetry, Iranian instruments, the ability to create new instruments, combining Iranian instruments with Western ones, etc. are like comparing Hollywood cinema with other countries.
Very nice.❤️🥀
Translation by Google of the lyrics:

I did not take anyone away from you
You accept both worlds Because you are a novel face without a turbidity
It was a pity to break the promise of loyalty of friends Patience overcame the burden of sorrow A few slow-resisting berries and a hundred semen stones I have escaped from everyone, I have fallen in love with you No matter what you scatter

it is one of the classic Iranians poems
Plz listen to Dastan and Mahdieh Mohammadkhani 👌🏻
Their album "A Window" is great, but - unfortunately - very hard to get. Luckily, I could buy my copy at a concert I attended about two years ago. :)
Hi, the fact is that without understanding the meaning and concept of Persian poetry as well as the weight and melody of the poem, you may enjoy only 50% of a complete song. Because all musical instruments serve poetry and the message that poetry has for the listener. And the singer reads the poem in a way that is like one of the musical instruments. Therefore, in Persian traditional music, poetry and music complement each other. So if one does not know the meaning and concept of Persian poetry, one only enjoys the beautiful sound of the instruments and the more beautiful voice of the singer as another instrument.
That was beautiful. i love the way you react, pelase add more persian songs
Welldone
The use of poetry in traditional music is very common. Imagine a singer using Shakespeare's poems in his song. It is difficult to explain what the lyrics are about. This is the text of Saadi Shirazi's poems, which is just one of the thousands of poems above the door of the United Nations.
It's a mystical poem (here as love song) by a 13th century Iranian poet, Saadi of Shiraz, called 'Mandrake.'
Lyrics
1-
Kas Nagozasht dar delam ta Tu be khatere mani
(Nobody comes into my hear while you are in my mind (heart))
Yek nafas az daron man kheymeh be dar nemizani
(You do not pitch a tent inside me [even only] a momen)
Mehr-Giah e Ahd-e man tazeh-tar ast har zaman
The Mandrake (Seedlings of love)
of my covenant is fresh any time (time to time)
Var Tu derakht-e dosti az Bon o Bikh bar-kani
(If you uproot the tree of friendship [love])
.....
