(this one probably coming soon!)
Very beautiful. I cannot tell you how much I long for rain. I live in a valley where the rain only comes during the winter season. Right now it's nothing but dry, dry weather and the ground is already cracked wide open. So, thank you for this very refreshing rainfall!
I'm happy the music was refreshing during your dry season - thank you for listening!
I love the effect with the rain! Fits to the "Movement of the calm" ideas :)
I loved the central idea of the piece! It made me want to do something similar. I think it creates very interesting atmospheres. Even without the rain it still leads me to rainy weather.
Thanks so much! This was my first time using felt piano, and the first time mixing piano with another sound, and it was really enjoyable to work on. I'm glad the music conveys the rain on its own.
I can close my eyes and hear it raining. You paint a beautiful musical picture. Would love to see you perform these pieces on here!
:) glad you enjoyed it. haha maybe someday!
Really great work! I really can sense the rain looking out of a window. And there's a freedom to to the timing here that feels so natural. Thank you!
Thanks so much for listening! It was very relaxing to work on.
Somehow your January raindrops feel warm...
The felt has a cozy sound, I think. Nice for the winter! In addition to Takemitsu, your "mosaic" piece for piano was also an influence on this one.
Wandered over for another listen. It is my belief that you are missed over at yonder site...😢 More like this would be welcome.
That was absolutely stunning! Gorgeous music and playing.
Thanks so much! Appreciate it.
This is a genuinely fantastic piece of music, I greatly appreciate it.
thanks so much for listening!
This entire set is truly amazing
this is beautiful! I love how the peaceful, seemingly scattered notes creates such an ethereal musical landscape.
thanks so much! happy the music worked this way :)
Truly soothing atmospheres here! Loving it.
happy the atmosphere came across well! thanks for listening.
This piece is incredibly evocative as well! Such beautiful harmonies within the piece too... The fact that it's so incredibly free makes it flow so well. I could definitely take a page out of your book. ;)
Thanks very much, and thanks for listening to all these pieces!
@@bethanywakim6175 My pleasure!
Thank you so much for this piece. Im a currently a high school senior and my dream is to become a competent composer. My entire “career” so far feels like a complete bust. My music teachers don’t care, they compliment my work but substantiate it with nothing (no work given, no practice, no direction), and my sense of theory is so misty, just a vague feeling in the distance. Maybe its nonexistent. I have no idea what im doing when I write, and on reflection of my journey so far I feel as if its been for nothing. Stuck to musescore and midi. No opportunities to perform or to hone my instrument (I think im just a lazy bastard.). It’s absolutey depressing, and sometimes I want to give up. But sometimes I hear something that draws me back, gives me some sense of hope, some sense of melodic thorough-line that I can somehow latch onto, some feeling that I can stand back up and chase that elusive dream of competency. This piece makes me feel this way. Thank you. Sorry if this is confusing. Musescore teaching has broken me
I can relate to this so much, even the feeling of wanting to make something after listening to this piece of fantastic music. I've been trying to convey an idea as of late a feeling of depression more aligned with emptiness over a feeling of sadness, but I've got no luck thus far. I think that has helped me in the past has been just playing my piano with absolutely no direction at all and eventually something will happen that you can latch onto will come by, it's also a good way to pass the time when that's all you have.
So happy this piece meant something and helped. And if it's any consolation, I never studied composition formally (had to catch up on a lot of theory) and don't intend to make a career out of it - just have consistently "tried" in the last several years. And if people enjoy it, that's all I ask for! If you ever want theory/notation feedback on your Musescore pieces, I'd be happy to give what I can.
Fantastic…very gentle and beautiful atmosphere.
Thank you! It was inspired by the atmosphere in Takemitsu’s music. If you liked this one, I think no. 3 is my favorite in this collection of rain/felt pieces.
@@bethanywakim6175 Thank you for your comment. Toru Takemitsu is one of my favorite composers. I should listen no.3 and other pieces!
This is stunning, I can't express how beautiful
thanks so much, happy you enjoyed it!
I like it very much, you have a new subscriber!!
thanks so much!
Came here from Reddit, where you wrote: "Mood influenced by Takemitsu." I can definitely hear it! I can also hear similarities to a Vangelis composition entitled "Memories of Green". You're in good company.
I like the amount of "between" space in his music. Thanks for listening!
Beautiful!!
thanks very much!
omg this is amazing!!! i have a felt piano and im definitely going to play this
wow, cool! glad you liked it.
Its wonderful to express impressions. This is very enjoyable and well done 🎼💫🎹💫🎹💫

This looks so nice to play! Subscribed.
thanks so much! it was very nice to play.
sounds great!
thanks!
So damn good.
Thanks!
Nice work!
thank you!
Really wonderful ! She shows us a way !
thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice Bethany!
And I LOVE how Pianoteq sounds! Couldn't believe it's not a sampled piano!
Thanks so much! Yes Pianoteq is amazing. Honestly I prefer it to sampled pianos, and you have so much control over so many parameters. It’s also nice to use just while playing - I typically practice with headphones/Pianoteq audio over just the digital piano.
@@bethanywakim6175 I seriously need to look into getting it!
Such a delicate and entrancing work Bethany. This feels like quite the tone painting to me. You're a true artist, friend. I hope 2022 is a fantastic year for you. (:
thanks so much! it was peaceful to work on, happy you enjoyed it :) hope 2022 is good for you too... and that it's a better year for everyone!
@@bethanywakim6175 Yeah
Please write a full set of these please please like 24 or something I've never heard anything like them and I listen to sorabji and korngold and Pierre boulez and kapustin
Haha idk about 24 but I'm working on a 3rd one currently! Hopefully it'll be finished in the next week or two, we'll see. Have you listened to Takemitsu? If you like the sort of ambiguous but still tonal style, I'd recommend "and then I knew t'was wind". These felt pieces aren't really anything like his, but were inspired by the "head space" I get from his music.
@@bethanywakim6175 I've listened to his rain tree sketch but other than that I haven't really listened to him much. I'll give him another listen and can't wait to hear the 3rd one of these!
Great stuff!
thanks!
It's raining right now at 12:21am
