I have now my Kia Optima 2016 (a mix of the 3rd and 4th generation) and I really love it, and guess what? BMW 3*** series drivers look with envy eyes at my Optima (silver) everyone comments about my new car when they see it parked or arriving to any place hahaha Im not sure If I like that thing hahaha but I feel so proud, the car performs very nice, the comfort is excellent!!! lots of space too!
Fantastic review! I purchased this car recently (the SXL - limited trim w/turbo in the States) and LOVE every second I am behind the wheel. I was so proud and pleased to hear your complimentary sentiment on it, as well. Ausgezeichnet and 감사합니다!
I really like the fact that you reviewed an affordable car , and I like the way you film the cars . I'm learning german and I'd love to read your report ! I appreciate your work and I hope you stay in this shape . Coming from a long term viewer :D
Refreshing to see such a clear, impartial, unbiased review. Kia's and their sister company Hyundai, are the hottest car makers around at the moment. Their design language is 'o point', and so is their tech. There car's are not just 'a lot of car for the money', but the have now also reached the status of 'desirable' and 'aspiration' vehicles.
I love this review. I had a 2013 Audi S4 which I was putting way too miles on (20k miles a year). I sold it for a 2014 Optima SXL a month ago, and couldn't be happier. Like the review said, there are options you pay a LOT of money for on a German car. Some of which, like cooled front seats, heated rear seats, touch screen, and a panoramic sunroof, aren't even available on most of the German sedans. I will say this, I miss the tight handling of the Audi. I HAD to change the springs in the Kia. They were way too floaty. For $150 in Eibach springs and $70 for an alignment, it made all the difference. Still not my S4, but I am very happy and the value can't be beat.
I have this car and it's honestly the best car I've ever driven. Usually after a big purchase I have buyers remorse at some point. Not so with my optima. Like he says in the video, you get so much for your money, there's no reason to regret it
Just bought a kia optima and im lovin it!! The sad part is they dont come with lcd screen. But I can order it online. The panoramic roof and other features are just awesome.
Very interesting review! I've never driven one of these but maybe it's worth checking out! I'm still just a little worried about the build quality, my friend had a Kia Sorento rental car and the media interface quit working after 1,000 miles, lol. Well done video though Guido!
Thanks Matt ! I really had no complains during my two weeks with the car and I know people are surprised how much I ended up liking it. I hope you get to check out one of these new Optimas, because I really think they did a big step forward with their new cars. Greetings, Guido
Amazing car to look at and drive in. Its a really sound product from Kia to compete with some of the established names in this car segment. Had a test drive recently and it totally surprised me. Interior quality, feel & design was European and the ride was comfortable most of the time. The Optima we drove came in the Nu 2.0 CVVL engine with 165ps and 20.0 kg.m, 100 km dash quoted @ 10.6 secs on 18" sport rims. Absolutely "The Power to surprise".
I just subscribed to your channel. I like the way you explain and review cars. Your opinions seem to me to be honest, but that little plug in the end about Kia wants you to review their car made me feel not to sure how much of your review was honest, but most of it seemed to me was an honest opinion. I'm glad you reviewed the Kia. It's nice to hear an opinion from a rich guy lol that really knows cars and truly enjoy cars on the more main stream average autos the most of the general population can afford. Well, at least I hope that most can afford. Anyways, Porsche autos will probably be my favorite dream car manufacture for life, but not all the models of course. Lol The GT-3 is just makes want to keep saying, WOW! Thx for sharing!

Thank you for doing such a honest review of this car. I currently own a 2013 Kia Optima SXL which has a 2.0L 274 bhp engine. I absolutely love it! You are correct! My SXL has more luxury than my friends who own Lexus and BMW! Thank you very much! I would like to see more Kia Reviews in the future from you. Also, can you confirm if Kia is currently developing a Super Sports Car that will rival Lexus, BMW & Mercedes?
Live in the states, have been driving a 2012 optima hybrid for 2 yrs... Nice car... Good looking and lots of bang for your buck as we say here in the states... I'll subscribe to your channel, I like the reviews you give ;)
Hi Guido. Nice review. I've actually become a fan of some of the KIA and Hyundai cars, such as the Hyundai Genesis and the KIA Cadenza and K900. Here in the States, we can get the Optima in five trim levels-LX, EX, SX, SX Turbo, and Limited. The diesel is not available, however. Nor is the manual gearbox. GRRR! :( The LX, EX, and SX have a 2.4-liter DOHC 16V inline-4 with direct injection that produces 192-hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. The SX Turbo and the Limited both have a 2.0-liter turbocharged DOHC 16V inline-4 also with direct injection. It makes 274-hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. :) The Limited is the top-of-the-line trim level, and sells for $36k. There are no options at all for the Limited. It's loaded with everything you can think of, including Nappa leather. The Optima's sister car is the Hyundai Sonata. I thought you and the other viewers might be interested. Bye for now. :)
Good review, I'm looking at one of these. Kia have come a long way in terms of style and quality, it's hard to overlook the value . The standard spec is refreshing high.
very good review. Only one thing you forgot and that is Kia Optima in USA is coming with much stronger engines, so that's the reason it's one of the most popular and best selling cars there !
***** : Thanks ! I didn't forget it, but if I had told people they would have asked me: So why don't you test the stronger US version ? Well...Because I'm in germany :)
Have had the 2014 Optima EX Premium Package w 2.4L for a year now. Still a great car and the looks blow away Accord or Camry or the generic want-to- be sedans. Smooth ride even at high speeds. Was tailing a Shelby Mustang GT 500 on the highway pushing a good 150+ kph and staying on right behind him . The 6 speed tranny is a real plus and very quiet. All the bells and whistles make this an exceptional car. The KIAs and Hyundais are now where the Japanese car makers were 15-20 years ago IMHO. It's only a matter of time before they start being recognized for the quality, styling and value they bring to the market.
Interesting review. I would never have considered a kia but since having one as a rental I've become speechless too! Great cars. I reviewed the Bentley Continental and was surprised because the options with a high end kia are a small fraction. I know the two cars are miles apart but still the options on a kia are impressive.
EMKWAN TV - vlogs from Abu Dhabi & Dubai : They sure are, please send me the link to that Bentley review if you can ;) Would love to see it if I can understand it :)
I really liked this review, it came across as very honest and it was funny how surprised you were at how much you liked the car. I changed my A4 sline for a 2.0 4x4 Kia Sportage a few months back and am very happy with it, I left it in for a service recently and the Optima caught my eye, it's a beautiful design and the interior is superb, much better than the sportage. I'm seriously considering changing the wife's car for the Optima once is get a test drive, I'm interested to see how the 1.7 performs as I wouldn't normally be interested in anything less than a 2.0. The 7 year warranty for me is a bit of a marketing spin i would much prefer 2-3 years free servicing ;)
I had an Optima as a rental as was both surprised and impressed. It is certainly a lot of car for the money. The one I rented had the 2.0 turbo engine and was plenty fast.
It looks nice this new Optima. I'm surprised you liked it. I really didn't think you would. But from what I can tell it looks like a quality product. Great review Guido :)
Thanks for the review man! excellent. Hoping to pick one up soon. Trying to decide between auto and manual. i don't know how much of a difference it really makes in 'the real world' as opposed to the mpg stats provided by KIA
Sonny Miller They don't sell it in germany, so I wouldn't be able to get one sadly. But Saabkyle04 has a great video about it ! Thanks for your comments, Sonny, I appreciate the postive feedback !
very nice review guido, can i suggest? can u use a better mic cause sometimes it sounds like you are muffled or maybe thats just your accent or the car's interior absorbing the sound. kudos =)
They can do whatever they want to the interior, the mechanic part is still Korean. Sorry, I'm still trying to get over the "car discrimination", but Kia is right up there with the Prius, in my book... Anyways, great video, Guido, as always! Thank you!
Never seen Kia this way to be honest, I'm really surprised! Ich mag ja die klassische Limousinenform und der hier hat was! Contender for my next car hehe
Very good review. I traded my 2007 BMW 328xi in on a brand new Kia Optima SX turbo. I test drove a new BMW 328 and, honestly, I liked the way the Kia drove over the BMW. My old BMW handled better and drove better than the new BMW. The Kia is just loaded with features that would cost a fortune in a new BMW. Mine even has a panoramic sunroof! The turbo produces 274 hp and 269 lb. ft. of torque. I have put 10,000 miles on this car so far and have no complaints. Build quality is really good.
Guido, is this what we get instead of a Porsche 911 GT3 review? You've gone over to the dark side! Waiting for Macan review from you, also Boxter / Cayman GTS. In the meantime, I'll settle for a back-to-back comparison of the 911 3.4 Carrera to the 911 3.8 Carrera S.
I was already booked for a GT3 test when Porsche told me they had to cancel it, because they are replacing all the engines on their testcars like on the customer cars. So far I haven't really heard back from them, which is frustrating :(
Hi..just signed off on a 2012 Kia Optima SiL- (mid range in Australia)- which is the same build model as 2013...almost the same as 2014. How was the noise in the cabin...am hoping for a nice quiet ride. Enjoyed your review.
It's got a different motor compared to us model. I prefer my 2012 optima model, but I do love the led dtrl integrated with the headlamp. Mine doesn't have that.
Der Sport-Modus is in nem Diesel nicht n bisschen sinnlos? ich mein, diesel entfalten die meiste kraft doch in den unteren drehzahlen? oder wie hoch dreht der im sport-modus?
Getawayer you sound have tested it with the turbo 2.0L. Bought a 2014 EX non turbo. Great car the looks blow away anything in it's class. Peter Schreyer formerly of Audi designed this Optima. All the goodies of the $40K-$50K + cars for about half the price. For those saying that it doesn't compete with the expensive Euro cars and upscale Japanese cars that's just plain snobbery IMO.
We only get the normal 2.0, the diesel and the Hybrid here in germany, Dan. I'm sure the Turbo is great. I loved driving this Kia and agree with your statement. I would prefer it over many other sedans from Europe and Japan ! Greetings, Guido aka TheGetawayer
That's a very good looking car...I'm not seeing myself buying a KIA Optima, but as a fleet car for a company? I might say that's the best option on the market right now. I would be a happy cat with a company car like that KIA instead of a VW Passat or a Skoda Superb. That Optima is really well equiped...Diesel car with leather interior, xenon headlights, daylight leds and Infinity sound system for under 35k €? Please yes... As for the cheaper car reviews, I think that is a good option for your channel. There are plenty of good cars to review under 50k. I'd like to see some pocket rockets reviews also...hehe! Take care Guido!!
Oh! Forgot to write that I will never want my dream sport car have a auto type gear box. I don't care it will be faster or whatever. driving a sports car with manual gear box is just so much more fun and rewarding to drive to me. I feel bad for upcoming young auto enthusiast in future that will probably never get chance to feel the more mechanical experience of an older car
I think you should do more videos with affordable cars (Skodas , Hyndais , Kisa's maybe even a Dacia ? :D) , I will admit since I subscribed I haven't watched a lot of videos because I didn't find the cars there interesting or affordable for me at any time (Porsches and Mercs ) .
+Jarek Roitapfel I just picked up a new Skoda Superb for testing, but honestly I'm all about driver's cars and fun cars normally, so my channel might infact not be your first resource and I fully admitt that, Jarek. Check out my friend Jan at Ausfahrt.TV who films many many affordable brands. Fellow german, detailed videos, good guy :) Tell him I send you ! - Guido
Thanks for an honest review, especially in the context of judging it based on the market segment it fullfills. All too many reviews are critical of the sport handling of this car, but was it designed to be a sports car? It's a sporty looking car, but still a 4 door sedan. As a daily driver in urban/hwy mixed driving, I love it, looks great, rides quiet and smooth, just a comfortable car to drive with some nice extras at a price point you wouldn't expect.
I like the kia to.... but only the top range models. They have made great strides in improving there cars and info structure. Its on my short list of cars I would buy. People think cars that sell in the us are not true driver's cars, but that's totally wrong, our road trips last for days, and after 8-10hrs of driving you will want a nice roomy cushy ride to. But we dont get the desile in the us lucky germans........ lol
Lol I can hardly get my 1998 1,9 TDI Golf IV above 7l. If you can drive a modern limousine in a spirited fashion and get it to 5-6l, that would be good. But 7l sucks for a modern car tbh, even if it is bigger and heavier than my Golf. But do I want big and heavy cars? NO. I appreciate the review though, thanks for doing it. I drove a Kia Cee'd a couple of years ago. They obviously improved on that, because I had never driven a car before with a more disconnected steering and lazier engine. You could rev the engine to redline and it would take 3-4 seconds to get back to zero, lol. Even truck engines are more responsive :). Everything else was decent, but it still felt mighty cheap. I drove a Hyundai i20 too. Feels cheap too. If I wanted cheap, I'd just take a Skoda. A Skoda is cheap too, but doesn't feel cheap.
Mr. Porsche reviews a KIA ! I heard that the world is ending or ended like last year so maybe it's not that much to be surprised about. =D Perhaps it might get even more interesting if you could fill up the gap by reviewing cars like Hyundai Genesis which I hear is a decent sports car. I am not sure if you should go to the lenght of reviewing Mazda MX-5 ish stuff (cars virtually reviewed by everybody) but having a series of small price-tag reccomended sports cars from you could be interesting. Or maybe reviewing cars that drives well in general might be a better course? In any case, thanks for the nice review. =)
Thank you very much for your honest and detailed feedback ! It has been very hard to get testcars in the last few mounth for me, so I can't always deliver what people ask me for. This Kia review really was just a test to see how people would react to such a review. I don't earn my living with these videos and german pr-department are not always willing to give testcars to an independent reviewer who makes english videos. I will keep my focus on sporty cars for sure. At least as long as dealing with car-makers doesn't get even more frustrating than it has been in the last few mounth. Greetings from germany, TheGetawayer
Interestingly Kia does not offer a Diesel in the USA. The only ones doing so are VW, Audi, Mercedes and Jeep with Mazda promising to but not doing so! Diesel fuel in the USA is at least 20 % more costly than gasoline and with the added cost of the Diesel engine it isn't that economical here.
I know. In germany diesel is cheaper than gasoline and especially driving at higher speeds on the autobahn, the diesel have a huge advantage over gasoline engines and are cheaper to run. Most mid-size sedans in germany are diesels :)

I just bought this car (used, of course) and absolutely love it!!
Because of your review today I went and bought the kia.
Thanks,

Got to love the geterwayer reviews👍 the best German reviewer .

Having drove the 2014 Optima I can also confirm its a very good car with good tight build quality, Kia have moved up in the world.

Awesome car. Great review.

Yeah it looks really good. Kia is really improving fast.. Nice to see you reviewing cheaper cars too. Very nicely done :)
First question for me is why KIA dont put in Optima their own 2.0 CRDI with 184 HP?
i like this car
love this video mate do lower cost cars with hi spec good idea i just got my self a a4 allroad due to you videos cheers mate
Thanks ! That's so great to hear. Hope you enjoy your A4, buddy !
Thanks for the review man! excellent. Hoping to pick one up soon. Trying to decide between auto and manual. i don't know how much of a difference it really makes in 'the real world' as opposed to the mpg stats provided by KIA
I think you should make this kind of reviews. It´s not always about sport cars.
I'd like to see a review of the Kia K900. I think it is an awesome car that desperately needs an open minded, honest review.
Sonny Miller They don't sell it in germany, so I wouldn't be able to get one sadly. But Saabkyle04 has a great video about it ! Thanks for your comments, Sonny, I appreciate the postive feedback !

Hey Guido, in North America Kia's aren't available in a diesel. For about 35k Canadian it comes with a 2L turbo petrol with 274hp.
I know. Too bad we don't get these, I would love to have more power in this car
Giselle Grant Thanks ! I was very pleased with it. Very comfortable car imo. Hope you'll enjoy it and let me know about it when you have it !
It's got a different motor compared to us model. I prefer my 2012 optima model, but I do love the led dtrl integrated with the headlamp. Mine doesn't have that.
Love it..
Nice review, but if you liked this car but wanted a more sporty feeling... aren't you curious to test the Kia Cee'd GT? Thanks
madsdgdhg Thanks ! Sure I just haven't asked Kia for one yet
Btw have you reviewed any Infiniti cars?!
EMKWAN TV - vlogs from Abu Dhabi & Dubai : Yes, the M30d :)
youre blown away by the car!! So am I! Kia man. it kinda replaces my dream of owning a BMW.
I forgot to ask you Guido, you definitely should test drive a BMW i3 or the new Porsche Macan
BMW doesn't give me testcars, but the Macan could be something I might test later this year ;)
Guido, how well do Korean brands sell in Germany? Have their sales improved as is the case in North America?
Kia has less than 2 % of sales on the german market. Don't know about Hyundai
@@TheGetawayer That's minuscule but not surprising. These brands have made a huge dent in the Canadian market recently
so guys after many years of having this car what are verdicts?
honest reviews plz
thinking getting one asap
Better get a Camry. Kias don't hold up well
That's a very good looking car...I'm not seeing myself buying a KIA Optima, but as a fleet car for a company? I might say that's the best option on the market right now. I would be a happy cat with a company car like that KIA instead of a VW Passat or a Skoda Superb. That Optima is really well equiped...Diesel car with leather interior, xenon headlights, daylight leds and Infinity sound system for under 35k €? Please yes...
As for the cheaper car reviews, I think that is a good option for your channel. There are plenty of good cars to review under 50k. I'd like to see some pocket rockets reviews also...hehe!
Take care Guido!!
Thanks Mico ! Will work on it, haha. When Kia said I could drive the car for half a mounth, I was like ' Yes, please ' , haha. Cheers
I just wish they would offer the diesel here in the USA.
Can a 6'2 person sit in the back?
I'm 6' 1" and I can fit behind the drivers seat In my Optima with the drivers seat left in the position where I was driving.
I'm 6'2 and it's somewhat difficult.
Oh! Forgot to write that I will never want my dream sport car have a auto type gear box. I don't care it will be faster or whatever. driving a sports car with manual gear box is just so much more fun and rewarding to drive to me. I feel bad for upcoming young auto enthusiast in future that will probably never get chance to feel the more mechanical experience of an older car
i want this car so bad
Can someone pls tell me if the 2014 Kia Optima good in the Canadian winter
- Guido
Kia will never replace a BMW but I enjoyed your review.
I prefer the Optima over any sedan I've driven from France, Japan and Opel ;) BMW is a different story for sure
Columbus1152 You're welcome ! I did enjoy the comfort of the car and I think it looks very attractive indeed :)
GENAU den habe ich mir gekauft, allerdings in Schwarz. Sehr geiles Auto!!!! Hingucker.
Is there sun roof ??
Yes
could you review a vw golf 2.0 tdi
I like the kia to.... but only the top range models. They have made great strides in improving there cars and info structure. Its on my short list of cars I would buy. People think cars that sell in the us are not true driver's cars, but that's totally wrong, our road trips last for days, and after 8-10hrs of driving you will want a nice roomy cushy ride to. But we dont get the desile in the us lucky germans........ lol
is this a benz in Europe lol?? "EXOTIC" af
I have the 2014 LX Hybrid. All I can say is that I don't want to do anything other than drive my car. xD
whats the mpg on hwy and streets?
Hard for me to say since I'm european and we measure in liters per 100 kilometers. This car was a diesel and used about 6 to 7,5 liters in my test
My dad has this card but custom the inside is all custom and outside
Mr. Porsche reviews a KIA !
I heard that the world is ending or ended like last year so maybe it's not that much to be surprised about. =D
Perhaps it might get even more interesting if you could fill up the gap by reviewing cars like Hyundai Genesis which I hear is a decent sports car.
It starts at 26000 EU in my country..same as BMW 3 series.
The price I mentioned is for a fully loaded car not the base model
TheGetawayer ok np...I didn't coment your review I just saying generaly...
This car seems to take the Pontiac Grand Prix crowd. Kind of busy/cheesy. I would prefer the Ford Fusion or the new Mazda 6 to this kid car.
yes, i think that you should start reviewing some cheaper cars, but please keep those spaceships too
Okay, I'll keep that in mind ;)
Schade das die Kiste nicht heckantrieb ist.
I wish it was RWD.
Gibt ja den Stinger, wobei der nicht sonderlich haltbar ist...
And BMW with the 328d. which is the same as Europes 320d :)
***** You are correct..
For non-Europeans: 7.2l/100km is about 32.7mpg.
Thanks for clearing that up, I thought it would be even higher though
nice car,,
هاي امريكي لو خليجي
My mom said she was gonna buy this
wow 35k. This shit is expensive!
If u can't afford a bmw or porsche..lets just get a kia.. kia optima its a great car
to me ..it sounds like a tractor when you just drove off @ the start of the review...
Diesel engines do sound a bit more gravelly. He says it diesel @ 7:25. Try checking out the petrol versions if you want better sound.
sub titles would be nice cant understand a word youre saying
His English is outstanding. What are you talking about?
you must be kidding
I had no trouble understanding a word he said.
maybe you're the one with trouble understanding English .....
David James maybe you understand slow people
Ow'll be bach
+Jim Green Hohohoho
kia no thanks german cars only :)
Hey the getawayer here's my entire playlist devoted to my car reviews ruclips.net/p/PLlN6iKQIsFXZuLMXtmCZ2x-cZvwkHDnAu the channel is called AVORAH TV BY EMKWAN
EMKWAN TV - vlogs from Abu Dhabi & Dubai : Awesome, will check them out later today !
Good review, I'm looking at one of these. Kia have come a long way in terms of style and quality, it's hard to overlook the value . The standard spec is refreshing high.
Got to love the geterwayer reviews👍 the best German reviewer .
Thanks Robert !
Your welcome getawayer what time is it in Deutschland?, am coming back once again next month😃!,
Noon, 12 PM :)
