  • In this video (1462) I go over my thought process to defeat padlocks BEFORE (pre-picking "foreplay") trying to pick them. We'll use the "palm twins" send in to the LockLab, a pair of Chinese Palm-branded padlocks.

    Bill, this was all pretty basic picking info but even so, I STILL learned something. I never thought to bend the shim to keep it from sliding around in the core. I've always had that problem as it gets farther and farther back and then begins to slide. Thanks for this cool trick! This is why I always watch each of your videos in full, even if it looks like it's going to be knowledge I already have at the beginning. I ALWAYS learn something from you. Thank you!

    This is a great reminder there's more than picking. I often go in and take up a false set and then spp. Yesterday my shims arrived, so it's time to go back though the collection and see what I can get some more fun out of

    Great tutorial Bill. I recently had this Union lock 5 pin without a key. It just wouldn't pick and I figured it was either I didn't have a pick to do the job or there was an issue with the lock. I shimmed it from the back just like you did with this lock (Only you did it from the front) and opened it up. Lock was fine and no security pins. I need better and more choice of picks.

    So many nondestructive attacks in one video! I haven't personally got my hands on a lock vulnerable to the keyway shim attack. I have shimmed a few at the shackle and I even found a lock susceptible to that hammer kinetic attack. That was pretty satisfying when I got that to work!

  • @tennesseetarantulas5129

  • @Ghost_Os

    I remember so many years ago, when I first started learning about locks, and learned about using a shim as an aid while disassembling a lock... I became so excited thinking, "could that be done from the front??"... And then dismayed once I looked closer at the plug. I still tried, lol. This is the first time I've ever seen a lock that could be front shimmed.
    Love the idea of putting an indexing cut on the shim, surprised they don't make them like that. Also, that looked like a very nice, uniform cut... Did you use scissors, one of those gouge cutters from a wood carving kit, or maybe some exotic alien technology convex clippers? Time to modify my own shims.

  • @eak125
    @eak125 5 лет назад +1

    Took me a bit to realize this: "Why pick when you can bypass?" Door Knobs at my workplace are so much quicker to shim than to pick when someone loses a key that I feel stupid looking back at spending the minutes on them when I could have been done in seconds.

  • @icenesiswayons9962

    @Bosnianbill was inspired by the locking picking lawyer to choose lockpicking as a hobby. Soon after found you. So I wanted to apprise you guys of what I've found, in case you haven't experienced it yet. Most probably have. If not, hope it helps.
    @LockPickingLawyer beware the "Barber pole" driver pin and the "2 stage Rocket fin" driver pins. These two pins look exactly like it's name. The Barber pole has a helix type serration going the length on the pin. The Rocket fin has a pointed bottom with a telescoping 2nd stage that has 2 fins. Favors an inverted rocket.

    Hey Bill, big fan of yours. I’ve been watching for a while and even got a few picks that you recommended. My dad asked me to pick his gun safe since he lost his key while moving but I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.
    It’s the Stack-On gun safe and I’m almost certain that I got all the pins on top and bottom but it’s still not opening. If you have any lying around I’d appreciate it if you make a video on it! No point in having a safe if you can’t even put your stuff in there :/
