A few years back, my GM from the corporate office shared a WhatsApp video of a speech by Sudhanshu Mani Sir. The name immediately struck a chord-I had heard it before. My son, during his training at NAIR Vadodara, had mentioned Sir, sharing his thoughts and vision with admiration. That moment sparked my interest, and I began following sir closely. In Indian Railways, Sudhanshu Mani Sir stands out as someone who understands everything-technical, commercial, social, and more. He is not just a technocrat but a true visionary who values art and culture, with countless examples to prove it. Coming from Palakkad district, Kerala-the land of Dr. E. Sreedharan Sir-railways for me used to mean his legacy. But now, I see Sudhanshu Mani Sir carrying forward that torch of excellence. His contributions, especially to the Vande Bharat trains, are phenomenal. In my family, with so many current and ex-railway employees, there’s immense gratitude and respect for your work. Sir, Indian Railways truly needs you in a leadership role like the Railway Board Advisory Committee Chairmanship to drive future advancements. Thank you for your invaluable contributions. Now,I feel incredibly fortunate have a personal contact with Sir.

It is true, giving AC and comfortable seats and toilets is advertised as you are doing something extra ordinary. Giving these things are just basic things don't show it as government have done something out of the world.
@@mat3753-s3w No this gives the sense that it is something extra ordinary because these should be the default facilities for every train we are not talking about making normal indian trains into world class. Only basic things like AC, closed doors, comfortable seats, and bathrooms that is just basic thing not something out of the world. Thank you is enough don't make it a big deal. Absolutely loved this, keep it up. Once people start recognizing your channel, your graph will spike. Don't give up. Keep bringing such guests(underappreciated heroes of the nation) to your channel.
ICF is government owned whilst BEML, BHEL etc are govt PSUs. How can seamless technology transfer among them meant for leveraging output capacity to achieve industrial economies of scales, cutting cost by avoiding unnecessary reinventing of the wheel, keeping cost of the end product low to make it more affordable to the end-user (people of the nation) be analogus to selling the family jewelry? ICF being fully govt-owned, any IPR or patentled technology held by it is sovereign govt right at the end of the day and atleast the IPR has not been thrown away free of cost to private entities, rather shared with other government PSUs. ICF could courteously ask the govt to reserve a share of profit per coach built by other PSUs to divert towards r&d of more such projects and improvement of manufacturing quality at the ICF as a reward for designing the Vande Bharat to encourge flair for innovation, instead of making it an issue of "right to family gold"- those rights are reserved with the providing parents anyway, the government in this case.
Even if trains run on time, people in India have this habit of arriving much earlier or staying at the station for connecting trains, crowding on platforms and other public spaces within the stations meant for other essential technical functions, lying down on the floor and resting or sleeping, eating and drinking there, which leads to a dirty, chaotic, unhygienic, ugly ambiance. This an issue with all major express train terminals in megacities, industrial hubs and tourist places. So redevelopment of stations in those places with swanky and spacey waiting rooms/lobbies, clean waahrooms, integrated hotels is essential and there is no harm in making profit from selling goods, services and providing quality time to gathering of people many of whom are aspiring middle class in a rapidly developing country - so redevelopment of these stations in those places should be prioritised. These things are not an issue with stations in very small towns, villages in India as stations remain largely empty. So beyond facelift and arranging for clean washrooms and basic amenities, there is not much scope or RoI prospects for redevelopment of those stations.
PS: Trial for New Sleeper Vande Bharat Express just completed at 180 kmph. The operation of the first ever sleeper vande bharat express is expected to start between new delhi and srinagar soon.

Sudhanshu Mani was excellent as usual. But I wish the interviewer had prepared better, and come up with better questions. The lack of preparation was very evident. Please prepare better. This was a sub-optimum interview with a legend. Could have been so much better
Nice to see an interview away from regular sensationalism and doldeum, focussing on facts and logics. Great job by both.
