The old Uticas are great. Indestructible quality boilers. The steam ones with the millivolt gas valves will run in a power outage. Thermostat switches the 750mv circuit directly. This one looks in good shape, block doesn't look too corroded.

You definitely know what you're talking about. The powerpile system generates power (750 millivolts) through the pilot system to the gas valve. We used to service these "state of the art" systems in the early 60s and 70s.

Just a thought u should have taken a open millivolt read before you cleaned the pilot and power pile and after. Just to see if what u did accomplished anything thing. You could take a read under load with the valve coil closed too. A new power pile should create 750 milivolts new out of the box. This is the same on most gas fireplaces same problem.

In Ukraine, unless you agree to a price before any work starts, most workman will tell you their bill amount is whatever they think you could pay. The confusion was a cultural thing, he grew up with everyone scamming everyone.

He never said he was a doctor here in America. In Ukraine a fully qualified doctor or dentist probably earns around $500 or $600 per month, think about that. A university professor who perfectly writes in three languages and has 30 years experience is paid under $200 per month. The minimum wage in Ukraine is less than US$0.50 per hour, I've met people just earning $20/week for a strenuous job.
And, it's always just "Ukraine, NOT "the Ukraine" unless you are trying to irritate them.
