Looks like cutting the original black and red cable coming off the bike applying some terminals which pair with terminals off the 12v battery red/black (+fuse off red cable to battery)- looks very simple
After converting to the 12v battery the bike runs for 3 minutes then cuts out. If you let it set for 1 or 2 minutes it works again. This sounds like a circuit breaker heating up. I haven't gone granular but I but a 30 amp fuse inline to be safe and that is all good. Wonder if there is breaker in the circuit board or if the voltage is too much for the board? Unless we know the voltage specs from power source through to motors it will be a matter of trial and error?
I don't think you're interested with him being as small as he is but that BMW bike is awesome my son had same one and if you change the gear on the back end it will literally pull wheelies it gives it a lot more to work
Hi, great job on the setup! I have the same bike for my son and we're looking to do the same upgrade. I just wanted to ask if the motor or circut held up to the 12v or if you ended up having to do any other modifications outside of adding the 12v battery. Also what did you use to charge the 12v battery when it needed to be recharged? Do you remember what specific battery you found? Thank you for any time answering these questions!
No cutting and splicing necessary to make new battery work. I reused leads from the original battery Just take cover off old battery and disconnect then stake on connectors and ditch the cover. only splice I made was for new charger to retain factory connector it is at least twice as fast.
I've heard if you just install a bigger battery it will reduce the lifespan of the vehicle dramatically without doing some conversations, I've heard it can also burn the 6v switches... I'm curious to know cause I want to convert my son's 6V bike as well, any tips ?
So this won't affect the motor? I have a bmw motorcyle battery in the shop I was thinking of using it on the kid's bike... But I'm afraid it'll burn out the little 6V motor
Yes I was wanting to change my kids 6 volt to a 12 volt but somebody else on there said that it would tear up the gears in a motorcycle if you could give me some feedback on that when you get a chance I appreciate it
I would reccoend going lipo- much faster to charge - if you youtube power tools battery conversion power wheels you can see loads of examples- lighter, better life, quicker charging etc..
Here's a link to a similar battery, it's the UK site but you'll get an idea of what you need www.amazon.co.uk/YUASA-RECHARGEABLE-ALARM-SECURITY-BATTERY/dp/B00SJJEW4Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?keywords=alarm+battery+12v&qid=1571662615&sr=8-7
Adorable future mechanic.teaching them young. That's what's good!
thank you so much for this video,it was fantastic.got this rider assembled so quick and easy.
Could you do a detail video of how you swapped out the battery?

Did you have to change gearbox/motor?

I just bough one for my 3 year old daughter. Please let us know what battery you used and were you bought it.
look up power tool batteries- better in every way
Good lordt that was fast!

What is the new battery?
Can you tell the model name and number of the bike?
Did you have a look into the motor? Is it RC390S motor?
Hi Daniel, did you find the motor got really hot when running the bigger battery?
Yeah please share the link for that battery
Very cool. So it's a direct battery swap without damaging the motor?
