There is a recline option for second row. You need to pull the lever on top side of seat, the same you use to fold seat.

I agree with your review. I have driven the vehicle from Kishtwar via Katra, Jammu to Patna. The fuel economy is around 14 KM.The space, engine are the positive side of the vehicle. Fit and finish need to be improved. Dash board need to be plane without so much switches which make it ugly. The infotainment system size should have been bigger to give it more posh look.
Above all Mahindra needs to work on airbags on XUV500 (I don't know about their other cars.)
If you don't believe me search on team-bhp. There are many such cases where driver has wore seat belt. The car was a total loss. But none of the 6 airbags opened.

I'll accept about fit and finishing is not good in XUV 500 but talking about Braking in this car I feel XUV 500 has an Awesome braking power because I am an owner of XUV 500 and i experienced a lot in braking, one day I was travelling to Ooty with my family and I was speeding in 140 kmph suddenly bufellows came on to the road and I gave maximum braking pressure to the brakes (I kept peddle to the floor) XUV went in a straight line and stopped in Just 4 seconds finally XUV did not hit it. I personally don't like the suspension in XUV.
I don't know how stable the car might be. But beware sometimes airbags (all the 6) don't open even in major crashes.
I don't want to put up a fight with Mahindra fan's here.
No one needs to believe me. But what I am about to say is true.
Search on team-bhp about airbags failure in XUV500. A thread depicting such a case will open. Within that thread there will be many posts and many cases of airbags non-deployment has been reported.
That vehicle was a total loss. The driver and co-passengers had seat belts on. But even in a major crash none of the 6 airbags opened. Driver is in a critical condition now undergoing brain surgery.

@@cool-ej6em One of my cousins have a first model xuv...he once went through a big pothole after that airbag symbol was showing up on the instrument cluster...then he showed it on the service center they recognised that one of the airbag sensor wire clip was opened ...maybe due to the pothole itself..... they told that in case the wire clip was left open that airbag would not have worked in the case of a crash...so always maintain the car regularly

Braking was the issue in xuv 500 when lauched in 2011 . in initial batch of its launching mahindra replaced the break system as well.

I have done 170 k km on my 2014 xuv and still no major expense apart from regular service and once a major service after 30k km
It is quite stable and easily does 180-190kph on good expressway
Yes suspension could have been better leading to lower ride comfort compared to innova
But apart from that no complaints at all
I personally think first gen was much better than second gen xuv which you're reviewing

Worst sitting postures, cheap plastics in this premium range, awkward style handbrake, outdated dials...bench like middle seats, bad in and egress ....outdated steering wheel..cheap looking alloy wheels..bad central console design...Air blowers noise.... Very bad door handles..thud noise of door closing is not good....MAHINDRA....TIME TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE.....Making fool of people in the name of facelift...PININFARINA...can not expect this from you guys...after 15 - 20 years of Scorpio...you can not access the door pockets...Shame...

Plush new xuv has a steering column or rack problem whenever tilted and hit a small pothole or a pavour block a "khad" sound is heard a new steering rack affixed by mahindra service centre but no results the problem remains and they are not able to diagnose it
