One feature of the lens that you did not mention, but that was a major factor in my decision to purchase, is its close-focussing ability, something that the 400mm 4.5 can’t do. I shoot birds, whatever wildlife shows up and wildflowers. With the 1.4 TC this gives nearly macro capability. Great for floral photography. I would have liked to see some of your Teton photos. I inadvertently put essentially this comment into a reply to another comment. Brain cramp. Sorry.
No worries, thanks for taking the time to comment and you're right, the closer focusing of the 100-400 is a great part of this lens! I wish I owned the 1.4 TC to try out with it to give me even more options. Sounds like you might just have spent some of my money! As far as looking at the images, you can see them in a couple places. One is my website under Recent Works (www.jasoneldridgephoto.com/portfolio/grand-teton-2023) and the other is by viewing my in-field videos on this channel, they have some images throughout the yapping.
@@jasoneldridgephotography Man I just picked up a Z8. I traded in my Canon R5. Currently I’m using a Fringer EF-NZ II adapter on it and running Canon EF glass. I call it the Nikanon. It’s working out great. I’m really enjoying Nikon’s colors.
@@travislucas7483 the Z8 is an amazing piece of hardware. They knocked it out of the park on that one! Their glass is great too but there’s only so much money, lol. It’s awesome the adapter is working for your Canon glass. Nikanon!! Match made in heaven.
I must have been lucky because my 80-400 copy was great. I ended up selling it and getting 100-400 anyway (I hate using ftz) and agree that it is even better. Works really good with 1.4TC as well. In my mind the 100-400 is awesome for landscapes and a lot easier to pack than larger lens. Looking forward to getting the 180-600 as well.
The 180-600 could be a great lens and the price is right! The 1.4TC is on my list so I’m glad to hear it pairs well with the 100-400z. Thanks for watching!
got this lens and love it so much. really wish nikon give us nicer crop sensor body than the z50 which is nice, but compared to the om1 i have also its a bit primitive. maybe z90 or 80 will be the best to get the most of this lens for bird photographers. thanks so much for this video.

Thanks for watching! Im hoping they get us a D500 equivalent at some point. Having a great crop sensor body is really nice for wildlife.
