@@PlastiGomi If that was the intention then they failed miserably, Swordmaster was too integral to Rebellion and Sparda, and even going further back to DMC 3 there was no style switching and you were stuck dedicating entire playthroughs to specific styles to level them up. It’s better this way is what I’m trying to say

DMC4 is unfortunately one of those games that only gets really good once you've put many hours into the game. It's some of the best melee combat you can find once you're good enough, but it takes a while to access that potential.
Yeah, it's a fact that DMC games get their real meaning only when you unlock all abilities... But that can take a while, especially in DMC4... Thus making these games more recommended for serious gamers, although casual gamers can enjoy them (except if they buy NTSC-U version of og DMC3 for ps2, like I did as a teenager... 😅)
when you get sword master lvl 4 you can use a move called real impact with the gilgamesh, if you turn your dt on and off while in the uppercut you can kill basically anything in the game and half health bosses. Its the best
@@carltasticdrew9633 they didn't "remove" it. Distortion was only a thing due to a quirk in the game engine 4 was made in, and 5 is on a different one, and it just does some stuff completely differently. So they'd have to make their own distortion on purpose at that point for it to even exist

DMC4 Dante is really fun and his animations are extra crispy, but he feels unfinished. Pandora and Lucifer are like, half-weapons. And sadly, DMC4 has the worst enemies in the series, it's honestly mind-boggling how bad some enemies are.
It's pretty sad to be honest, with a bigger moveset pandora and lucifer would be hella cool and good enemies to fight would make 4 a trillion times better

FYI, theres a lot of cool tech that Dante can do in 4 that they removed in 5. Stuff like Guardflying, Distortion, Reversals etc. Also, if you want to get good at DMC4 Dante, I'd recommend checking out 2bepowers guide on the character
Glad to see new people trying out DMC4, it has my favorite gameplay elements in the series, and my 2nd favorite as a full package, since it's basically DMC3SE on steroids. If it wasn't for some reaaally un-enjoyable lesser demon enemy types, Dante's chapter in the game would have been a lot, and I mean A LOT more fun (Not counting the bosses, they were extremely fun to challenge with Dante, and yes, even the underrated Savior boss fight was a blast when you REALLY do know how to deal with him.). To this day, DMC4 is the most DMC game I played in terms of total time spent, a little more than 3SE if my memory serves correctly (13 years of DMC, since 2009 when I was 5 years old playing DMC3SE.). Keep playing, and try challenging the hellishly difficult hordes of the Bloody Palace after you put some more practice in. Have fun!

Maybe it's not that big of a deal, but I just can't replay 5 as much as I can 4 purely because the environments get so bland after just one playthrough. Yeah, you gotta backtrack through every level as Dante, but at the very least the game looks pretty and has a vast color pallet! Dante and Virgil's dull coats are the perfect encapsulation of the whole "grey and browns" color scheme they were going for.
SPOILERS: Wait until you get the 5th style, then you can practice air combos Also a few tips for dmc4: -Enemies off screen won't be able to attack you (unless they are priming an attack). -When you DT. Some of your moves can change or extended (Stinger gets more hitboxes, Kick 13 gets a rising sun finisher) -you can also perform a technique called a 'Just Charge' for Gilgamesh and Rebellion which is noticed when it gets brighter when pulled off successfully. Which results in more damage. -Charging your shotgun will get rid of the mephisto and fausts cloaks much quickly (if playing with a controller switch the buttons for DT and Gun attack around which makes it easier) -Finally, remember to taunt to build up more of your DT gauge. Just thought I should put these in there to help you out a bit more, but its alright if its a bit overwhelming at first. I felt the same with Dante.
There’s lot to learn but the best learning comes from over time which you’re very good at. As for the prop/shredder move into trick up, it’s helpful to launch the enemy with high time, but don’t launch yourself, then when the enemy falls back down, use prop/shredder and the enemy will go back up and then you can switch to trickster to trick up. For practicing jump cancels, it’s best to learn how to slide your finger from jump to sword style action in the air; air rave. So basically you would launch the enemy and yourself with high time, then air race, then jump then air rave and just practice that motion. Different enemies have different hit boxes and 2Bepower has a great guide on all the basics but only get to that after you’ve spent some time on your own just getting used to stuff.
Finger sliding from jump to style is sliding up from X to O. So a good way to practice that is to use high time, slash with swordmaster, then after the initial slash is complete press jump but then quickly press the style button again and rinse and repeat. To practice the motion, practice having your thumb on X and then without lifting it, slide over to O and and then quickly lift up slightly and then repeat the action
Especially the part in the garden 🪴 where you beat the flower lady monster the puzzles are focking trash the levels take sooooo long and idk don’t like that part

Funny enough for me it was reversed And I gotta tell you, after all my time as dante, mastering all the hidden mechanics, dt burst, royal guard flying and royal sentinal glitches... Playing 5's dante felt... very dummy downed. Like i love the new weapons, all the new abilities were really fun, but they all basically get replaced when sin dt becomes a thing until vergil, where the game remembers "Oh right he can parry now"
It’s all the armored enemies, while a cakewalk for Nero who can just buster them or Vergil who can just blink away any bad encounter he doesn’t want to take part in with Judgement Cut End, Dante is at the mercy of every hyper armored/dimension phasing dirtbag in the game with what feels like nothing more than a stick to fight them with, veterans who main DMC 4 might not have much of a problem due to the advanced levels of play but anyone else who’s just playing through the series is going to get bodied when it swaps to Dante which sucks cause it should feel like a power tripping return to form with Dante being the veteran he is.
ngl seeing you play DMC4 makes me want to play through it again. Dante's style switching and multiple weapons still fucks with my tiny brain but im getting there slowly (fuck dmc4's last boss tho, that dude was mad annoying to play against)
Here's something nice; When you are introduced to Blitz later on (a demon that has lightning all over him, and moves stupid fast), you can't hit him with melee while he's covered in lightning, as it will hurt you. However, if you switch to royal guard and block every time you hit him, you won't take damage when you smack him. This works with any melee weapon. Also, once you get the gloves, get dragon punch IMMEDIATELY. It's easily the highest damage dealing hit Dante has. If you turn DT on and off just as the Dragon Punch connects, you can absolutely ANNIHILATE dudes in seconds. It's ridiculous. Edit; Alright, so I actually finished the video and remembered that DP is connected to Swordmaster, and I'm pretty sure is back + style-button. You're gonna still wanna learn DT cancel when you do it, as it will destroy people stupid easily.
That is why I played DMC4 first and then DMC5. I enjoyed both games. Dante always gets fancy weapons in each part of the series. In DMC4 he got to use his own blood brother 's sword and got a new style called Dark Slayer. His weapons are also fascinating. Gauntlets and Greaves are a must in DMC series for Dante. Each part of series, Dante gets a weapon that looks like gauntlets and greaves. Like Ifrit, Beowulf, Gilgamesh, Balrog etc. all are same weapons. Most of them having fire element power. Beowulf and Gilgamesh had light and organic based powerw respectively. Also in DMC4, Dante cannot glide in devil trigger form. In other parts though he can glide easily. Maybe Dante needs Devil Bringer just like Nero.

As someone with MAXIMUM IRON and a sense of direction and photographic memory, Nocturn had me so mad, I had to let my girl friend tell me where to go before I got bored and passively raged quit. My brain stopped working lol
Blitz is like the worst enemy in the game, horrible design. It's the electricity dudes that are fast and have basically infinite health, you could say they're furies from DMC5 except furies are actually fun and balanced. If you swap to royal guard and do the first attack in a Gilgamesh or Rebellion combo and IMMEDIATELY hit the guard button, it will perfect guard and you can spam that to break his shield and earn a lot of DT back during his shield phase... other than that just distort on his unshielded health.
OH AND WATCH DONGURI PLEASE SEARCH DONGURI DEVIL MAY CRY 4 DANTE AND WATCH HE IS INSANE, sorry for the caps but he is the absolute f&&&king GOAT of dmc4 dante
The way I do it is Trickster to dodge the attacks and use shotgun charge shot when he's stopping. After the lightning's out, swap to Swordmaster/gilgamesh and DRI the crap out of that thing.
But yeah I agree the design is bad, just looks generic. It seems blitz, assaults, and frosts have a similar base but with different elemental powers lol
@@msf2000 Blitz is the only new enemy from the three you listed, and yeah, they all use the same base. The Frost and Assult versions have been in the series since DMC1. They're actually originally repurposed Hunter models from Resident Evil and when DMC1 was still meant to be a RE game. So yeah, they use the same base, but if that's something to complain about it's like 3 games too late lol.

That is Sparda outfit from DMC1 and DMC3, originally from the 1st. It is literally in the lore. When in Devil Trigger, standart devil form becomes Sparda's form as well.

as a DMC3 player, playing 4&5 was really fucking fun with dante but 4? i practiced RG in dmc3 but i was never as consistent with its parry as in 4. Perfect guarded the snake lady in the forrest and all the bosses went down as fast as dante’s cash

It always bugged me the transition between Nero and Dabte during the game. Plus no additional stages. So you're just back tracking. Dante being able to shift styles was okay. But man do his moves feel neutered and unfinished. Plus the enemies felt they were designed specifically for Nero.

DMC 4 dante is much more easy to use than DMC5 dante, but DMC5 dante is way more powerful to use than DMC4 dante, he has so many skill sets in 5 and has 4 swords and 4 guns plus SDT. And plus his royal guard can block everything.
because dmc5's dante more completed than dmc4's dante. moveset is more clear(when you want to use some move, you will do THIS move, no another). And about the parry, in dmc5 using DT gauge if parry was fail, but in dmc4 using hp bar for this, that is riskful. dmc5 wants you use parry, dmc4 penalizes for this P.S: i badly know english, but hope that you can understand me. @@vishal2996dmc4 Dante is a lot easier his tool set is a lot smaller and easier to deal with. Doing air combos is pretty easy as well just use rebellion and Yamato rave.
Dmc games go, DMC 3,1,5,4,2 then the reboot which is good and underrated imo just not the real dmc tho, lmk what all y’all’s rankings are coz I’m curious where 5 sits for everyone, I know it’s potentially the most popular now.

The advanced style play community for 4 just tends to prefer it because it’s combat is generally snappier/faster, and they’re given more freedom to mess around with the mechanics compared to 5 where it doesn’t have as much tech to exploit and there’s nothing wrong with that.
This game, oh this game is such a mixed bag honestly. Not bad, but I don't think it's great compared to what some people say. It feels so underwhelming compared to 3. But this game was rushed which really goes to show through this entire experience. The two biggest issues to me is one: The gravity being so crazy, you fall so fast and enemies don't stay in the air for long enough to actually pull off consistent combos. (Jump Canceling is also almost impossible because of this.) And two: Pretty much all the enemies are not fun to fight in any which way. You just feel like a wet rag being thrown around most of the time when you get hit, and adding a parasite to the Scarecrows & Blades is the laziest and dumbest addition this game throws at you. They literally punish you for being aggressive and going for combos. Plus I don't know why this is, but there's so many enemies with a weird sense of strong poise. It feels like you're swinging at nothing when it comes to most of the enemies. They barely react to your attacks, and for some reason they're just are so hard to knock up into the air. Plus Blitz is just a slog of an enemy type to deal with. He's like this game's Shadow & Fury had a baby and plopped out the worst of both those enemies into one whole package. But Shadow and Fury, although hard to deal with, and can be a pain, there's good strategies against them to stop them completely, and wipe them out. You can make them borderline trivial. (Unless if there's more then one then problems really start to occur.) Blitz doesn't really have anything like this. I have a lot of other issues but I feel as if 5 fixed every major issue and nitpick I have with 4. I literally can't play this game again after just how 5 just managed to be flawless in its combat. It actually feels like you can be an absolute monster and mow through demons like bread & butter.
DMC 4 is an underrated DMC game. It’s super fun and has a great story to follow. The introduction of Nero was fire. I remember as a hardcore DMC 3 player how excited I was for DMC4 and I loved every minute of Neros gameplay and missions. His Devil Bringer and his DT are very unique and cool to use. Every enemy has a different and unique animations with Neros DB. So the games starts really strong… until you begin to play as Dante… don’t get me wrong, that is extremely fun to play in DMC4. They improved him a great deal from DMC3. The only problem was with Dante, that he is backtracking Neros Missions. It’s clear that DMC4 was very ambitious and they had very nice and cool ideas for the Game. But because of some issues that went on behind the scenes; Capcom decided to cut DMC 4's production time in half. Because they went over budged. So they focused a great deal to make Neros side as planned and reworked Dante’s part with backtracking. So he fought Neros Boses and finished them this time. I don’t know if it’s really true that the development really was cut in half or if the really went over budged. But one thing is clear, the game feels unfinished. But still, it’s a good game and I love it to this day. Actually I will buy today the special edition and play as Vergil. I’m hyped.

This is exactly how I felt going from DMC1 , 2, 3 Dante into DMC 5 Dante; AIMLESS.
Here's something nice; When you are introduced to Blitz later on (a demon that has lightning all over him, and moves stupid fast), you can't hit him with melee while he's covered in lightning, as it will hurt you. However, if you switch to royal guard and block every time you hit him, you won't take damage when you smack him. This works with any melee weapon.
Also, once you get the gloves, get dragon punch IMMEDIATELY. It's easily the highest damage dealing hit Dante has. If you turn DT on and off just as the Dragon Punch connects, you can absolutely ANNIHILATE dudes in seconds. It's ridiculous.
Edit; Alright, so I actually finished the video and remembered that DP is connected to Swordmaster, and I'm pretty sure is back + style-button. You're gonna still wanna learn DT cancel when you do it, as it will destroy people stupid easily.
seeing this video made me wanna play this masterpiece again 😍 have completed this game more than 100 times

That is why I played DMC4 first and then DMC5. I enjoyed both games. Dante always gets fancy weapons in each part of the series. In DMC4 he got to use his own blood brother 's sword and got a new style called Dark Slayer. His weapons are also fascinating. Gauntlets and Greaves are a must in DMC series for Dante. Each part of series, Dante gets a weapon that looks like gauntlets and greaves. Like Ifrit, Beowulf, Gilgamesh, Balrog etc. all are same weapons. Most of them having fire element power. Beowulf and Gilgamesh had light and organic based powerw respectively. Also in DMC4, Dante cannot glide in devil trigger form. In other parts though he can glide easily. Maybe Dante needs Devil Bringer just like Nero.
After Dmc5 I'm never going back to that unforgiving frames for jump cancelling

I just beat 5 aaaaaand I don't know, despite the great steam review I have memories of playing 4 to death and having way more fun with it back in the day
As someone with MAXIMUM IRON and a sense of direction and photographic memory, Nocturn had me so mad, I had to let my girl friend tell me where to go before I got bored and passively raged quit.

Blitz is like the worst enemy in the game, horrible design. It's the electricity dudes that are fast and have basically infinite health, you could say they're furies from DMC5 except furies are actually fun and balanced. If you swap to royal guard and do the first attack in a Gilgamesh or Rebellion combo and IMMEDIATELY hit the guard button, it will perfect guard and you can spam that to break his shield and earn a lot of DT back during his shield phase... other than that just distort on his unshielded health.
OH AND WATCH DONGURI PLEASE SEARCH DONGURI DEVIL MAY CRY 4 DANTE AND WATCH HE IS INSANE, sorry for the caps but he is the absolute f&&&king GOAT of dmc4 dante
The way I do it is Trickster to dodge the attacks and use shotgun charge shot when he's stopping. After the lightning's out, swap to Swordmaster/gilgamesh and DRI the crap out of that thing.
But yeah I agree the design is bad, just looks generic. It seems blitz, assaults, and frosts have a similar base but with different elemental powers lol
I’d rather fight Blitz frosts and mephisto than thousands of chimera assaults. They’re the worst fr.
@@msf2000 Blitz is the only new enemy from the three you listed, and yeah, they all use the same base. The Frost and Assult versions have been in the series since DMC1. They're actually originally repurposed Hunter models from Resident Evil and when DMC1 was still meant to be a RE game. So yeah, they use the same base, but if that's something to complain about it's like 3 games too late lol.

That is Sparda outfit from DMC1 and DMC3, originally from the 1st. It is literally in the lore. When in Devil Trigger, standart devil form becomes Sparda's form as well.

as a DMC3 player, playing 4&5 was really fucking fun with dante but 4? i practiced RG in dmc3 but i was never as consistent with its parry as in 4. Perfect guarded the snake lady in the forrest and all the bosses went down as fast as dante’s cash

It always bugged me the transition between Nero and Dabte during the game.
Plus no additional stages. So you're just back tracking. Dante being able to shift styles was okay. But man do his moves feel neutered and unfinished.
Plus the enemies felt they were designed specifically for Nero.

DMC 4 dante is much more easy to use than DMC5 dante, but DMC5 dante is way more powerful to use than DMC4 dante, he has so many skill sets in 5 and has 4 swords and 4 guns plus SDT. And plus his royal guard can block everything.
because dmc5's dante more completed than dmc4's dante. moveset is more clear(when you want to use some move, you will do THIS move, no another). And about the parry, in dmc5 using DT gauge if parry was fail, but in dmc4 using hp bar for this, that is riskful. dmc5 wants you use parry, dmc4 penalizes for this

Doing air combos is pretty easy as well just use rebellion and Yamato rave.

The advanced style play community for 4 just tends to prefer it because it’s combat is generally snappier/faster, and they’re given more freedom to mess around with the mechanics compared to 5 where it doesn’t have as much tech to exploit and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Last DMC envoirenment made me finish the game and forget about it fast.No reason to become a combo master on that cluster of flesh and debris.
Say that to Donguri, he will laugh in your face, oh wait, he's a nice guy, he won't do that.
This game, oh this game is such a mixed bag honestly. Not bad, but I don't think it's great compared to what some people say. It feels so underwhelming compared to 3. But this game was rushed which really goes to show through this entire experience.
The two biggest issues to me is one:
The gravity being so crazy, you fall so fast and enemies don't stay in the air for long enough to actually pull off consistent combos. (Jump Canceling is also almost impossible because of this.)
And two:
Pretty much all the enemies are not fun to fight in any which way. You just feel like a wet rag being thrown around most of the time when you get hit, and adding a parasite to the Scarecrows & Blades is the laziest and dumbest addition this game throws at you. They literally punish you for being aggressive and going for combos. Plus I don't know why this is, but there's so many enemies with a weird sense of strong poise. It feels like you're swinging at nothing when it comes to most of the enemies. They barely react to your attacks, and for some reason they're just are so hard to knock up into the air.
Plus Blitz is just a slog of an enemy type to deal with. He's like this game's Shadow & Fury had a baby and plopped out the worst of both those enemies into one whole package. But Shadow and Fury, although hard to deal with, and can be a pain, there's good strategies against them to stop them completely, and wipe them out. You can make them borderline trivial. (Unless if there's more then one then problems really start to occur.) Blitz doesn't really have anything like this.
I have a lot of other issues but I feel as if 5 fixed every major issue and nitpick I have with 4. I literally can't play this game again after just how 5 just managed to be flawless in its combat. It actually feels like you can be an absolute monster and mow through demons like bread & butter.

DMC 4 is an underrated DMC game. It’s super fun and has a great story to follow. The introduction of Nero was fire. I remember as a hardcore DMC 3 player how excited I was for DMC4 and I loved every minute of Neros gameplay and missions. His Devil Bringer and his DT are very unique and cool to use.
Every enemy has a different and unique animations with Neros DB.
So the games starts really strong… until you begin to play as Dante… don’t get me wrong, that is extremely fun to play in DMC4. They improved him a great deal from DMC3.
The only problem was with Dante, that he is backtracking Neros Missions.
It’s clear that DMC4 was very ambitious and they had very nice and cool ideas for the Game. But because of some issues that went on behind the scenes; Capcom decided to cut DMC 4's production time in half. Because they went over budged. So they focused a great deal to make Neros side as planned and reworked Dante’s part with backtracking. So he fought Neros Boses and finished them this time.
I don’t know if it’s really true that the development really was cut in half or if the really went over budged.
But one thing is clear, the game feels unfinished.
But still, it’s a good game and I love it to this day.
Actually I will buy today the special edition and play as Vergil. I’m hyped.
