Wait, aren’t you able to keep your previous TAG’s national ideas and other associated functions by an event when you form Germany? With that by forming Germany you get bumped to empire rank and gain claims on both north and south German regions while still being able to keep Prussian or whatever ideas
You're right when you say that hitting the button to form Germany isn't going to be a detriment to your nation. However, the opportunity cost is massive and the tag change doesn't give you anything substantial. But, yes, if you happen to meet the requirements to form Germany, you usually might as well do it. #8 Westphalia: I actually formed it as Cleves, after a few conquests. And actually ended up as leader of a PU with France (which is hard to control, however, due to Westphalia being so much smaller than France).
Yea i mean it is kind of weird that there isn't a northern european expansion that includes Novgorod, Iceland and some north German nations... Also PS, that was the absolute funniest Eyjafjallajökull pronounciation that i think was intentionally bad? It's EYYY (like EYYY (OOO) (JA sound ) AAA... hard F-JA (hard double L) LL A (prounounced the same as the JA A)... Jö (sorta like J uhh) K (hard) U (like uhh) and hard double L again (as in let air escape!). Idk maybe too much text but i have absolutely no idea what you said so it goes for both of us. Hilarious!
Awesome to see Icelandic people here! Hey at least I can say " Þingvellir", better figure out a way to get that into a script. Your language is super hard!
I've been playing a game as Hesse in which I maintain the emperorship of an entirely protestant HRE. Hesse's ideas are superior to Westphalia's, but I ended up forming them without new traditions and ambitions because Hesse's mission tree includes tolerance and a permanent +.1 monthly imperial authority modifier, and for an emperor game that seems valuable to me. Plus I get claims on northern Germany when before the missions focused more on pushing West over Rhinish culture provinces. I already got the Hessian mercenaries achievement and I'm not aware of any super great ideas past the 1670s for Hesse so it seemed like a good move.
Seems like a slightly odd time to release this before a major patch which is updateing some idea sets [EG: Sardinia-Peidmont] I wouldn't agree with Greece being #9 with Reduced Core Costs. They're not brilliant but have use. It's certainly better than Westphalia and Shan... And how does Malaya get a pass when it also offers you nothing; Shan can change your ideas if you form it as someone without Shan ideas.
I have no idea what his thinking process was, but as far as I know, the only thing going for malaya asides pirates is that you have the ability to access one of the best trade nodes in game which could turn you stupid rich
@@gamedominatorxennongdm7956 well that's the point, as Malaya you can easily become one of the richest countries in the game, and EU4 is a game where you can effectively throw money at problems that prop up to solve them.
forming scandinavia promotes all scandinavian cultures to accepted without occupying a slot which means you can have an obnoxious amount of fully accepted cultures if for example you decide to claim the british isles for yourself. this list would make a lot more sense if you swapped iceland and scandinavia around as there are actual benefits to the latter.
Forming Germany isn't too difficult, especially if you go down the historical route of forming it as Prussia. Dismantling the HRE removes the 50% AE penalty, and you can wait until dip tech 23 for the nationalism CB for another AE discount. But you're right, there is no point to forming Germany unless you're achievement hunting.
You can even do it without too much AE if you use a clever combination of PUs, diplo vassalization (once you're big enough) and reconquest (of your subjects' provinces).
@@AlzaboHD Oh nice! I'm in the middle of one. Between Kebab, QQ, Mamluks, you constantly need to balance alliances, expansion and hopefully you'll manage to tech up XD. Trezibond too would be cool to see.
Scandinavia is the most underwhelming thing ever, man:/ Was so proud of my Norwegian empire, having conquered Sweden and Denmark, as well as beating England so many times in the colonial conquests that I basically just owned the entirety of America and Caribbean. Thought it would be great to form the Scandinavian empire... The flag isn't even cool:(
Idk about Germany. The thing is if you allready formed prussia you can form germany afterwards, no big deal, you keep prussian ideas, get more claims and if youre allready through your mission tree, you have no downsides at all.
In my current campaign as Denmark, I am just waiting for the end game (and to get Ostindisk Compagni Te" to click the "Form Scandinavia" button. But very early in the game I was able to: - Stop England from becoming GB - Stop Muscovy from becoming Russia - Stop my ally Brandenburg from Becoming Prussia - Stop my ally France from reconquering France (I unexpectedly inherited them later too) - Held Netherlands to form until Lowland Countries started converging, but: I have Amsterdam, London (now Middlesex) and Muscovy. I couldn't stop PLC but now they are an OPM *SOUTHEAST* of Lithuania and a thicc Galicia-Volhniya So this became a major Operation Cockblock (Kokblok?) Oh wait, this is not r/eu4
Ok, so here's the thing about the HRE when you form it. You can keep almost all the armies if you don't mind scuttling all of your navies. It's not like you need colonies as the HRE anyway, and you probably won't even inherit that many when you get the last reform. The trick is, immediately upon passing the final reform, just switch to a constitutional monarchy. Then grant EVERY SINGLE PROVINCE a seat in the Reichstag. Each MP boosts their province's local tax, manpower, and (most importantly) force limit. Yes, going click, grant parliament seat over and over is mind-numbing, yes, you'll have like 150+seats in the Reichstag, and yes, you will spend pretty much all of your mana always fiddling with the Reichstag to get buffs when/if you get your bill passed. But just make a hard save afterwards to avoid risking doing all the MP-creating all over again. Not only does a fully implemented constitutional monarchy send your force limit through roof, but the huge buffs to tax revenue will more than make up for not having colonial trade nodes. People like to shit on constitutional monarchies because you get that major hit to discipline, but you well more than make up for that by keeping all of those armies, jacking up your manpower, and drowning in money. Plus, constitutional monarchies allow more states and grant you additional legitimacy a year, helping protect against discontent efforts and regencies. As for the lack of unique ideas? Who cares. You're such a monster afterwards you don't need them.
How to be a true masochist... Play as Norway, become Iceland, reconquer Scandinavia and form it, then get elected emperor of the HRE, form HRE. Achievement unlocked: Lord of Trash

IF you form it as prussia, you are no longer able to use the prussian age b onus in age of revolutions, even though this should be more then obvious if you think about it, there really is no reason to form them at all if you intend on finishing the campaign aside from roleplay porpuses.
#8 Westphalia: I actually formed it as Cleves, after a few conquests. And actually ended up as leader of a PU with France (which is hard to control, however, due to Westphalia being so much smaller than France).
about Westphalia - you need to play as Frankfurt cuz it has missions about forming Westphalia.

Stay safe out there! I’d personally like to see your personal top 10 favorite campaigns
Great video as always. Looking forward to more videos (especially CK2 content) to get me through this lockdown lol
Before I watch I bet Scandinavia is the worse
You are a scholar and an oracle
I spoiled myself, lmao
@@waywardstoner9416 oops
Atleast germany can be formed by prussia so thats a plus
Seems like a slightly odd time to release this before a major patch which is updateing some idea sets [EG: Sardinia-Peidmont]
I wouldn't agree with Greece being #9 with Reduced Core Costs.
Higher number is better, lower number is worse. #1 is the worst. #9 is almost the least bad on the list.
I'm doing a Malaya playthrough right now, and yeah, I'm stupid rich. That alone makes it good.

I associate the IronSide intro so much with iSorrow that I was like, “AM I sure I’m not on iSorrowProductions’ channel?”
I am a simple man. I see a new Alzabo video, I click.
that reviewbrah reference at the start was unexpected.
Unintentional, no idea who reviewbrah is but thats cool

As a half-Greek Australian, this list hurt
Good prediction about the Australian aboriginals
Of course ideas and so on are nice, but for me, the roleplay aspect is just more important. Up the HRE!
forming scandinavia promotes all scandinavian cultures to accepted without occupying a slot which means you can have an obnoxious amount of fully accepted cultures if for example you decide to claim the british isles for yourself.
this list would make a lot more sense if you swapped iceland and scandinavia around as there are actual benefits to the latter.
Dang I didn't realize how recently these videos were made. I was under the impression that these were years old.
I saw Iceland form in a game once. I think a bunch of other rare nations appeared in that game too but Iceland was the one I thought was craziest
I formed Bukhara when i played Uzbek years ago & i'm continuing the save on Vicky2 for a RUclips playthrough
Since 2020 it is much easier to form Westphalia. I did it playing as Aachen. I guess it is all about Empereor DLC. But it is funt to play as them now.
My one point for Germany/HRE: Coal provinces. Lots and lots of coal provinces
I'd also like to point out you get empire status as well. Scandinavia doesn't even get that
Great videos! How about top 10 best/worst trade nodes?
Rest in peace Arial sea
Forming Germany isn't too difficult, especially if you go down the historical route of forming it as Prussia.
Dismantling the HRE removes the 50% AE penalty, and you can wait until dip tech 23 for the nationalism CB for another AE discount.
But you're right, there is no point to forming Germany unless you're achievement hunting.
You can even do it without too much AE if you use a clever combination of PUs, diplo vassalization (once you're big enough) and reconquest (of your subjects' provinces).
Can you do a video on hisn kayfa or zaporozhie? Fun countries in odd starting points.
Hisn Kayfa is recorded and on the way, hope to have it out later this month. Cheers!
@@AlzaboHD Oh nice! I'm in the middle of one. Between Kebab, QQ, Mamluks, you constantly need to balance alliances, expansion and hopefully you'll manage to tech up XD.
Trezibond too would be cool to see.
bruh i havent seen alzabo for a while and sae the ironside intro thought i accidentaly clicked on an isp video
The flag isn't even cool:(
Je savais pas que tu étais Français ducoup continue comme ça ce genre de vidéo europa sont les meilleurs
Je suis états-unien mais jhabite sur Paris en verité, merci pour ta commentaire! Courage a toi pour la confinement
Idk about Germany. The thing is if you allready formed prussia you can form germany afterwards, no big deal, you keep prussian ideas, get more claims and if youre allready through your mission tree, you have no downsides at all.
It’s about to be April Fools Alzabo...

In my current campaign as Denmark, I am just waiting for the end game (and to get Ostindisk Compagni Te" to click the "Form Scandinavia" button.
But very early in the game I was able to:
- Stop England from becoming GB
- Stop Muscovy from becoming Russia
- Stop my ally Brandenburg from Becoming Prussia
- Stop my ally France from reconquering France (I unexpectedly inherited them later too)
- Held Netherlands to form until Lowland Countries started converging, but:
I have Amsterdam, London (now Middlesex) and Muscovy.
I couldn't stop PLC but now they are an OPM *SOUTHEAST* of Lithuania and a thicc Galicia-Volhniya
So this became a major Operation Cockblock (Kokblok?)
Oh wait, this is not r/eu4
One cuestion, if you play with Athens, is a good idea to become Greece?
Sorry because the autolike but I really want to know if is a good idea
For a video Idea for EU4, top ten most interesting cultures to play as?
I found that in my All Greek to Me run that even though the Greek ideas are bad, they’re still better than the Venetian ideas.
this guy predicted 1.31 1:25
Iceland should be nimber 1, u can t leave ur Island and you are stuck here till the end of the game.
i often play as Prussia and will never form Germany or HRE. By the way. how long have you been living in France? and do you speak French?
i'm myself living near Versailles.
Good choice, hopefully emperor shakes things up! Ive been here for years but just moved to the capital as well. Ouais je parle français - bon courage a l'avenir, on est bloqué pour 45 jours quoi
