I always loved that they got Levon Helm for this episode. The only non-Canadian in a Canadian band.
I watched a lot of SCTV growing up BUT i never remember seeing this episode. WHAT A FIND AND THANKS FOR POSTING. RIP Levon. Such a sweet voice from this multi-talented man.
Didn't the Stones also sing Summertime Blues? ( I thot that The Band was all American except for Robbie Robertson)

These were lean years for Levon and Rick, since Robbie had song royalties.
The Band were Bob Dylan's backing band . by this time on this rerun they made hits on their own . They also recorded and performed with the soul, r&b, gospel group The Staple Singers

The N in 5 Neat Guys had a serious drinking problem back in the day. The group were going to get rid of him but then they would have been 5 Eat Guys and that was no good so they kept him.

In its original airing, this was the 1st SCTV Network 90 episode. Mostly reruns tbh as they just got Catherine & John back and were throwing segments together for a 90-minute show quickly.
'Earl Camembert' is surely a play on a former CBC newscaster Earl Cameron. And this name refers to the stinky cheese brand.. only on SCTV!!

Did Earl Camembert's groovy "One On the Town" van ultimately find its way out to Possum Lake and in the hands of Red Green? Maybe Guy sold it at auction to clear various debts when the network shut down, and he couldn't forge any more checks?
