John Sebastian - one of the under-rated greats. Some wonderful songs both solo and with the Lovin' Spoonful. Thanks for all the memorable tunes and associated memories John.
I met John after a show once, and as he was signing my Cheapo Cheapo Presents... LP, and I asked him if needed the silver pen I brought (because most of the album cover is dark), he said "no, I know right where to sign..." - right up the pant-leg, we laughed and my response was, "hey John, do you still have those pants?" He said, "no, man...funny story about those pants - they were stolen from a laundromat in Greenwich Village. I loved those pants!" Hahaha - true story! Super nice guy.
Its like hes sprinkling his love-filled tie-dye magic over any problems that may arise, like a psychedelic social- worker healing our human woes.......
This guy is a genius. I've always liked his music and smooth voice. My favorite album after all these years is "Cheapo Cheapo Productions presents the real John Sebastian".
You don`t have to be a hippie to enjoy his music, my brother certainly isn`t a hippie and he loves John Sebastian. Being a hippie is irrelevant, just like the fact that you don`t have to be rich and old to appreciate classical music, or black to appreciate rap. Also, if you wish to represent your genre preferences in a favourable manner, I would suggest you tone yourself down. I try to respect the different genres, but when their fans act poorly, it reflects poorly on the genre.
I remember airing this song as John Sebastian,s first solo effort.I hoped behind hope that this would be a stone smash.unfortunately it wasnt...still a great song from one of the most talented people I have ever met!!
One of my ALL TIME favorites of John Sebastian! Wow, thanks for the memories. I am so pleased someone was able to put it on youtube for all to enjoy. Kudos to the good taste for an all time legend.
@d4v1d5hu13r chill out man, did i say you or everybody should like his music? (and not only hippies like folk) "not more famous" could be as a perforer, a composer, a lirirycist, a back-up musicien, anything, wether we like his style or not you have to admit he's a good musicien and open your mind, maybe with a different arangement you would even like this song. just chill out man, i mean, what the hell is that capitalised word's agresivity?
in the beggining i thik "everyone like to smoke a joint and listen to john" but them i realized it was just a normal cigar, but them i realize "everyone really like to do that" ,,
i love this song so much! wtf was 'the music scene'? -(no doubt it wasnt shown on either of the 2 stations we sometimes got..-w rabbit ears ..-in 1970).

Side 1 of “John B. Sebastian” is one of the most underrated group of songs in my opinion.
Nope

I remember days that felt like, it was raining daisies.... Poetry, with a melo soul...
'Fell in love with John way back in the 70's. Good to see you again man.

He was famous back in the late 60s & early 70s, but most importantly for being with The Loving Spoonful
This is from the album John B, Sebastian released in the UK in 1969, I bought the album just for this song
I want a pair of pants like John Sebastian has
I love that song so much.
@bookkeeper57
did anyone NOT recognize Groucho ? :0
Exquisite song.
How did we get here from there?
Groucho lighting a cigar as John is being introduced. He was such an arrogant prick. Never did like him. Love this song and John.
What a surreal moment... first Groucho Marx and then the "psychedelic social worker" -- great description, cavesystem!
Who introduced john and his song ...difnt he used to be a comedian ?
Whatever became of him ???.
i love him too and also his tie dye :)
I wish he and Groucho had done a song together!
One more time!!!... _smile_ ...:)O(:...
so beautiful...

Always think of that last line in the springtime when falling blossoms cover the sidewalks.
Yes,specially in Europe and North America, spring and autumn are beautiful seasons in these places
Who is the host/interviewer?
David Steinberg
David Steinberq and Groucho of course but oh my Kenny Rankin does this sonq so well......Sebastian wrote some qreat stuff.
i love this song so much! wtf was 'the music scene'? -(no doubt it wasnt shown on either of the 2 stations we sometimes got..-w rabbit ears ..-in 1970).
Classic Sebastian song. It's become somewhat of an AC hit as I have heard it on KRUZ in Santa Maria and KJUL in Vegas.
@PeluMaad I've been asking myself the same question for ages now ...
@PeluMaad Thinking about it makes me deeply sad.. ):
ya gotta do it till your satisfied and whip it good!
no john sebastian no james taylor
That old guy has gnomes in his hat...
Is that David Steinberg?
It's Groucho Marx!
@PeluMaad No kidding. One continued shit spiral
