Welcome back to another Least Used Stations video! Today, I am at the 75 Avenue Station on the (E) Line, as it is the Least Used along the whole line! If you enjoy, consider leaving a like, and subscribing to the channel!
This station is one of the least used Queens Blvd stations. However, it's far from underutilized, especially during rush hour. The area where it's located has a few medium-sized apartments and businesses.
The E stops at 75th Ave during the late pms, nights and weekends. The F stops there 24 hours. Some drop out at Union Turnpike and layups on D3 or 4 at Paraons/169.
The Queens Blvd IND corridor currently runs under CBTC, from Kew Gardens to 7 Ave-53 on the E-line, 5 Ave-53 on the M, Queens Plaza on the R and 21 St-Queensbridge on the F. ATO is still not used as of this date! When it works as designed, it's not a bad system! But when it doesn't, it's a nightmare!
A park on one side, suburban FH Gardens on the other, and yet for this to be the least used station on the Queens Blvd Exp speaks to how loaded this line is.
True, however, even though it is between those two stations, people tend to walk to the nearest station to them. And that's even if a big hub, like Forest Hills, is just one stop down.
@@MysticTransit To me people would walk further if there are more options slightly further away. During the rush the E doesn’t stop while it does at forest hills and Kew gardens. The M and R are also available at forest hills so someone who needs 8th Ave or Broadway is more likely to take those.
One of the few local stops in Queens with I-beams spaced five feet apart along its entire length. Van Wyck Blvd. aka Briarwood has I-beams spaced 15 feet apart along most of its length. 75th Ave. was known as Puritan Ave. before Queens County was incorporated into NYC.
The named streets were numbered in the late 1920s as the Queens street grid was updated and conflicting names resolved. The street names dated back to the previous century before the amalgamation of the five boroughs into New York City as we know it today in 1898.
@@1575murray I used that station when my sister lived in Forest Hills. I'd get off there if the train I was on switched over. Mornings I'd go to Union Turnpike. She lived between those two stations.
As a Long Islander myself, I would agree with this video. In my opinion, 75th Avenue is a lonely station and whenever I go to that station or pass that station, only a few people were there. Been There Done That PS: I use to live in Forest Hills
No, that wouldn't really be a good idea, because it does still stop here. And on the outside of the station, at the entrance, it shows the (E). It does stop here frequently at night, during Peak Times, and Weekends, so it is still used a good amount by the (E). It counts.
I think I'd agree that 75th St shouldn't be considered an E station. By the logic of it stopping there and being on the street signage, then Beach 105th St should be the least used on the A.
Isn't because of all the drivers, it's because the E never stops there during the day and weekdays so even on weekends at nights, people who live at that station (like me) automatically get on the F on the way home even on weekends/nights because it's ingrained in our heads that you can't use the E. Also, back when the F was running express at night, the E was still local, so hell to the no you wouldn't get on the E to get off at 75 late night and ride local. Also, it's unusually close location to kew gardens stop, a lot of people get off there, even myself, because it's closer to the grocery store and other businesses. So i'll actually skip my stop if i'm on the E even on weekends, to get to those businesses. That station is so close to my apartment even though 75th is closer. Because those stations are so close to each other. Walking to kew gardens is nothing. In fact a lot of times I end up walking to kew or forest hills and then getting on a train there because I want to visit a business closer to those stations. The businesses near 75 are not important, like delis and bagel shops. Nothing important like grocery and etc. Not only that but if you want to transfer to a bus there are tons of buses at both kew and 71st. Only the q60 at this station. iow I very frequently use the other two stops not because i want to but because it's just convenient depending on the situation. When I lived elsewhere, no way would I even consider going one stop in either direction to get the train, or pass my stop on purpose on the way home.
If they were to one day extend the F to, say, Cross Island Parkway, perhaps they can have the R run to Jamaica-179th Street, and have the M to run to Jamaica Center to terminate with the E during rush hours so the two lines can share trains. I honestly find it kind of awkward how the M and R terminate at Forest Hills-71st Avenue while the rest of the QBL uses a 4-track system, up until the last stop, Jamaica-179th Street. I believe if they were to extend the F to Cross Island Parkway, they would have the R extended to Jamaica-179th Street, where it will terminate. In fact, maybe you should do a video on a potential F train extension further east of Queens.
Riding the IND queens blvb is painful to ride through on the local, so many issues come up out of nowhere that backup like a third of whole mta system as well too many stops. Used to take the E from west 4th to Jamaica for york college
Yeah. The next few videos will go in this order: B, D, F, M... The (B) is in Manhattan at 155 St, and I believe the (D) is in Brooklyn at 55 St or something like that.
@@MysticTransit how crazy would it have been if the B/C switch in Manh & the B/D switch in BK didn't happen. The least used would have been switched between both. Lol. This is a grand idea my guy.
Actually i kinda lied about the last video, im actually curious as to why for the letter lines you went by av's and not alphabetically. Also are you going to do the staten island railway?
I went for the Avenue's instead of Alphabetically because I feel like the videos would be sorted better. Also, it makes it easier to get footage for the lines by doing it this way, because I can just go to all of the 8 Ave Line stations in one go, instead of alternating each week. To keep with Subway Continuity (With the Trunk Lines), I went for the Ave's instead of (A/B/C/D...)
Actually, I've found out the reason for the low ridership. It's because the station is situated between two transfer stations (Briarwood and 71 Avenue). The QBL is a MAJOR LINE in Queens, and is useful to a lot of riders in the borough.
@@alexthemtaandr211weatherfa2 ATPM yes, it’s not under ATO yet. Read again ATPM = Automatic Train Protection Mode which is manual operation. ATO=Automatic Train Operation.
I used to be afraid of that station and still am since its kinda dead and has the sea foam green pillars and the southbound platform has a abandoned staircase that freaks me out every time i pass by it. And i was there recentley to get photos of the station and platform and it was my first time

Liked the narrative explanations. A lot of other channels don't give any. Good job.
I try to be different and give more detailed explanations on the different stations that I cover. Glad you like that.

4:58- you caught and R160B! nice
Yeah, I love when I catch those units. Love the Traction Motor sound.
Bruh i forgot 75th Avenue existed on the QBL
We needed a NYC version of this! Thank you!
Glad you like it!

This was my favorite video so far since I know so much about this station personally and I was able to guess right
Nice! Glad you enjoyed the video!
If a train is held at 75th Ave or 36th St- Northern Blvd, the delays are bad.

Yeah, it doesn't look like many people get on here, especially since it was mostly empty when I went to get the footage for the video.

is that u??? :OOO
Nice video! I live one stop away at Forest Hills - 71 Av
Nice. Being that you are from the area, do you know if I got all of the information in this video correct?
Yes
@@MysticTransit Yes you did because people would rather use the Forest Hills - 71 Av or Kew Gardens - Union Turnpike stations
Not sure this legit counts since it's a mostly skipped station for the E. Should really only count stations with full service for this series.
No, that wouldn't really be a good idea, because it does still stop here. And on the outside of the station, at the entrance, it shows the (E).

It’s gotten a bit better now that CBTC is active along the line.
What is wrong with that line
Good job, brother!!!
its between two major stations 71st and contenetal and union turnpike where the courts are

How does this station get less ridership than Jamaica/Van Wyck?

the signage at street level should really only show the F given how little the E provides service
I haven’t even heard of that station
The people should take the subway and get out of their cars once the interborough express is completed, if it becomes feasible for them to do so
Low ridership is cause many travel within queens the QBL is useless for those trips
