what happens if a video containing a song from motion array gets claimed cause of identifyy? do you have to clear this yourself or does Motion array handle it?
I think technically the composer is supposed to clear it but I've not had to do that yet. My basic understanding is that YT easily clears the claim if you can demonstrate that you have a license, but it's not something I'm familiar with as I've never done it myself.
Yeah there’s quite a few people who have succeeded with that model but like anything else Youtibe is highly saturated with free background music so it’s hard to compete with the algorithms
why not put your own music in your own videos, like this one for example? you have no music running, and it could be a way to show it off as well. maybe you have a reason why, and if so, please enlighten me. thanks :)
Great question but I don't have a perfect answer. I do actually use my own tracks in my videos fairly often, but how it relates to any benefit regarding content ID with respect to my own channel is still a bit unclear to me. First of all, it's possible that getting a claim, even from use of my own registered music would cut into the total amount I'm able to monetize my videos with AdRev because I'd be giving Identifyy a cut of it. Second, despite many instances of using my own content ID registered music in my videos, it never seems to trigger a claim for me. I don't remember connecting my RUclips page to ownership of the material so I'm not sure how or why Identifyy seems to skip past my content. Something to look into though..
Hey Stevei. Thank you for doing this. it s really helpful but i have a question. I have tons of tracks. the path i want to follow is; 1. stream these songs to spotify though disteokid 2. get an content id though identifyy 3. register on artlist and similar websites and share these tracks is this the right way to follow. Can i share these tracks on artlist after registering content id by identifyy or does artlist have its own content id system? thanks a lot for your help on advance.
Unfortunately registering your music on any content ID service, Identifyy included.. is a deal breaker for Artlist. Only certain stock libraries will permit your own CID registration. For myself, my content ID registered material is only available on Motion Array, Pond 5 and Audiojungle
You could use chat gpt to write your scripts, and then use a text to video ai to create the video, then pop your tracks on there, use a text to speech ai for the vo - probably wouldn't take too long lol. Definitely feel you could use your own music in these videos more, as a viewer it would be cool to get a feel for who you are as a musician and background music and some angle changes and cuts definitely helps keep flow in a video. Another idea could be to do some reaction videos of what people have used your music for, explain how it has enhanced the mood, maybe posture over why one track is more successful than others, has the track name played a role etc. Or a compilation video promoting the videos and channels that have used your music and say thanks... if their video align with any of your interests you could spark a direct connection with them and potentially develop direct relationships with the smaller creators to collab or gain sponsorship from, or potentially just licence to them directly or gain some custom jobs... Sorry to ramble at you just what came to mind Thanks for the video Steve, have not considered this option and look forward to exploring further!
Is starting to sound a little like inception though, doing a reaction video of a reaction video of a video that could be of a video of someone reacting to something 😂
So, let me get this straight: 1. Someone buys your music and adds it to his software. 2. Someone records video of said software. 3. You claim 100% revenue of said videos. 4. You proceed to feel good about how much you earned from work of other people - because you got paid twice. This is just an example, but this is how the cancerous content id works. I've bought "royalty-free" music (not from you) in the past and its a scam - registered on content id and earning money from my work.
Nope. You got it all wrong, let me clarify it for you.. 1. Someone buys my music legitimately with a usage license 2. Someone records video on RUclips using said music 3. RUclips issues a copyright claim because it's registered with content ID 4. I receive a TINY portion of the ad revenue generated by the video for using my copyright protected content because the user couldn't be bothered to clear the claim by providing proof of license. 5. I proceed to feel baffled that user doesn't clear the claim which is hilariously EASY TO DO. 6. I also consider the likelihood that user STOLE my music and proceed to feel AWESOME about being paid twice 😊
@@Steven_Beddall Not quite. I bought good licenses (the most expensive ones) from audio jungle and asked audio jungle beforehand if I can use it in my game. They said ok. What happened after? When youtubers started to record gameplays, they got automatically claimed. There was NOTHING I could do about it (I tried). I see this whole system as a scam and nothing more. I will never buy music again.
@@rixxir Yeah that sucks for sure, but Audiojungle requires that the music author discloses whether the music is registered with content ID, it says it right on the track landing page. If it wasn't disclosed, the author would be violating their terms of service and you should be refunded. I understand the frustration but I'm not sure it quite meets the 'scam' criteria because it's not a hidden feature. In any case, if you are using RF music in your games you'll find that much of it is protected by these kinds of systems to prevent theft and unauthorized usage. The CID system isn't perfect by any means, far from it. I would just consider that its not musicians trying to scam you out of your hard work! AJ probably isn't the best place to buy music for your game either. I'd look at Game Dev Market or Unity Asset Store and make sure the tracks are free from CID.
@@Steven_Beddall Yeah, but you know how it works only after you do it - I had no idea about CID system on youtube. It was the first time I bought music from a store, and a last time. I will just use AI instead.

why not put your own music in your own videos, like this one for example? you have no music running, and it could be a way to show it off as well. maybe you have a reason why, and if so, please enlighten me.
@@Steven_Beddall well I do enjoy your music. And your content.
@@bradfordknights7554 thanks man 🙏
Hey Stevei. Thank you for doing this. it s really helpful but i have a question. I have tons of tracks.
the path i want to follow is;
1. stream these songs to spotify though disteokid
2. get an content id though identifyy
3. register on artlist and similar websites and share these tracks
is this the right way to follow.
@@Steven_Beddall thank you so much.
Sorry to ramble at you just what came to mind
Thanks for the video Steve, have not considered this option and look forward to exploring further!
Is starting to sound a little like inception though, doing a reaction video of a reaction video of a video that could be of a video of someone reacting to something 😂
So, let me get this straight:
1. Someone buys my music legitimately with a usage license
2. Someone records video on RUclips using said music
3. RUclips issues a copyright claim because it's registered with content ID

Not quite.
Wow 30% cut? We are doing it for 10% only
