@DL Vesey definitely you guys need to offload a load of players on massive wages. It's tough though as we found out trying to find willing to take on the salaries of the long termers in the squad. Half your transfer budget will need to be used to offload those guys with one off payments to end contracts .

Scot McTomminay problem lays back in the time. In his early years he was striker then changed to midfielder. I think his forward mentality was never lost and thats why he is so useless on midfield.

I watched this game Brighten “ played” with United. United are out of shape and no aggressive runners. I hope everyone gets behind Ten Hag and helps him out because he will need it.

It's clear we need new fullbacks in the summer in addition to the other weak positions. Tavernier from rangers (experienced, solid in attack and defence, leader on the pitch, and would be inexpensive). Would also look at Tagliafico whose contract expires next year and knows Ten Hag's system. Can get both of these fullbacks for less than £20m. McTominay has to go, I'm sorry but he's not even bench quality.

What happen this season is a blessing, we see the true colour of the players and management. Unfortunately it required 2-3 years to clear the rotten apples. The darker the night, the nearer the dawn.

We can talk about the players poor mentality, that they are down tooling and that we lack leadership. For me its clear : The players are simply not good enough. The best example is to compare our fullbacks to the the three best teams in England. Miles behind.
Shaws our only full back that might get games in a top 4 team, rest of them are average.

@@hulk8384 Don't forget that last year Shaw was fantastic so he absolutely has it in him to perform well and consistently. This year has been bad for most United players. Shaw however, in my opinion, would be able to challenge Alonso and Tierney. If you don't think so thats cool, its all about opinion.

I think the team played as it was built to be. The club hired a PE teacher who got Cardiff City relegated. Then hired Phelan who got Hull City relegated. Then hired Darren Fletcher who was average as a footballer and had experience with Stoke. So the team is doing exactly as predicted. Relegation form football created by relegated coaches,hired by the club
Darren Fletcher wasn't average mate. He was a brilliant player for us. Most midfielders we have had since wouldn't lace his boots.

Funny how the difference a week makes with regards to Mark and the United stand. When Utd beat brentford Mark said it was one of the best games Utd have played this season. He was giving praise to a lot of players for how they played and today, many of those players played today and now Mark is saying those players are crap.

Great point about Bissouma; he could play in a lot of midfields at elite clubs. He’s everything United need in midfield, but could the fans look past the end of their noses regarding signing a Brighton player.

How have we become so bad that a team like Brighton that was almost relegated outplayed us like that ..one would guess we were playing against Man city. Ten hag has a very big and steep mountain to climb it would need a miracle to reach top 4 next season.

I'd be satisfied if we finish 6th but have an improved playing style as a unit, better individual players and hopefully a semifinal qualification for one of the tournaments. That's how far low the bar has been set by our current squad.

I think that the problems of Man Utd cannot be saved by a new coach. The incoming coach will also struggle. The team needs a total overhaul.
Mark - genuinely interested in how you respond to this, so please do if you see. Obviously a lot of up and downs this season, no point being theatrical anymore. But after last 2/3 games, where things were generally looking ok, to turn up at Brighton - with more or less the same side as recent weeks - and get embarrassed - where the hell do we actually go from here? That lot were our only hope in recent weeks, and they’ve been toyed with again.

I think this squad lack confidence thus affecting their team play.. i believe good coaching from physical and mental aspect could improve this team. Also it also a fact that some of the player do not have the quality to wear the shirt..
From the beginning, 90% of the current squad are not good enough. All of them should go otherwise next season we will have a harrowing time.
The same names get mentioned and they need to go. Sir Alex recognized good players he played against and who plated well in general and brought them to the club, Erwin, Rooney etc. Why don't we recognize this.

The squad and team are skilled and good enough to compete for the title. It's not about being good enough - it's about remaining good enough! A manager with the right philosophy, charisma and strong discipline is the solution. Rewind to 98 when Arsene Wenger took over Arsenal. Were Arsenal a formidable or side or feared at the start of the season? They had a defence that was ageing and underperforming prior to his arrival. Arsene was able to change the culture of the club and squeeze out everything he could out of the players he had. Fast forward to when Leicester won the title. You can argue that competition wasn't at it's strongest but was splashing the cash the formula of their success?
Like it or not, many of the underperforming players that we have at the club are still going to be after the expired contract players leave. The main solution is probably not - spend spend spend which seems to be the solution impatient fans and pundits go on about endlessly.
Maguire and McTominay are clowns and no manager will ever change that

It doesn’t change the fact a good manager might be able to bring out the best in them consistently…. Some players have managed to resurrect their careers. Although I don’t see it realistically happening with the ‘clowns’ we have it won’t stop me from (painfully) hoping!

The players are not the issue. They will leave for other teams and do better. Case in point, Smalling, Evans etc. Look at Abraham for Chelsea and conversely Lukaku for Chelsea. The coaching is the problem and Ragnick is terrible for Manchester united.
A few players to add to the squad would make the team do better. I think people are obsessed with changes. It is not about changing all the players. I recall how people assumed adding SANCHO, CR7 & VARANE will improve the squad because they finished 2nd last season. It is not as straightforward as people think. People think the right back is bad, then change and it will be better. but nope.
The team need to be strategically organized with some additions and subtractions to play better. Currently, the coach is the major problem of the current issue. MOU, OLE were better than him. Maybe he is a good consultant but definitely a terrible manager for Manchester united so far.

We have the worst midfield in the league. We’ve had one striker available for most of the season and he’s 37. Our defenders are average at best. Honestly the only defender I’d keep in that team is Varane and even he has been really underwhelming
