- TikTok: The latest social media craze! There is huge untapped potential for exposure on the platform, and though I really need to make an effort to get into it a lot more, I wanted to make this tutorial on how I make my poetry videos!

This video was suggested in the comments section on my how to grow on instagram video and thought it’d be a good idea to show you what I do, to share poetry on tiktok! So let’s go.
TikTok is the newest platform of social media, and therefore the easiest to grow on. Now I managed to rake in something like 800 views on one of my videos with only 32 followers, so that just goes to show you the potential the platform has. I’ve also known a couple of poet friends make the leap and done very well out of it. As for me, I’m still trying to figure out my place on the platform. Before we get started, why not drop you tik tok accounts down in the comments below for me to follow, and whilst you’re at it go give me a follow over there too… lets start the revolution! Also don’t forget to like this video and subscribe to my channel if at any point you find yourself learning something new!
So here’s the great thing about tik tok… there aren’t that many poets on there yet! Which means there is a huge gap to fill, so if I was you, I’d pause this video… download the app and create an account. But how do I create my poetry videos for Tik Tok? Well first thing you have to remember when it comes to creating a brand… its always important to show your face! So don’t be afraid to jump in front of the camera and READ! If however, you want to do something a bit more stylised like me, you’re going to have to invest in some video editing software. I used Adobe Premiere Pro but it can be expensive. If however you’re not in a position to invest in your videos, I have left some links to free software in the description. Now I only found them through a quick google search and haven’t used them myself so they may not even allow you to do certain things that you’ll need for tik tok, so keep that in mind.
Now then, lets say you have got your software set up and you’re ready to go, the first thing you’re going to want to do is find out tik tok’s ratio for their video file, this can be a simple google search.
Once you’ve done that, create a new file and start up your software.
So first thing’s first you’re going to want a background, something that catches the eye but at the same time is plain and accommodating of text.
If you’re wondering what I record on, I have this studio condenser mic here, or I bought a lapel mic for my phone which you might have seen me wear in various videos.

There was a moment when I thought you were going to find a RUclips tutorial on how to make poetry Tik Toks in this tutorial and that would have been real poetry.
Idk if tiktoks fast pace trend cycling still follows this format (I am years late watching this video) but I will say this video gave me a lot of ideas. I appreciate you and your videos! Just found you today as I decided to actively start sharing my work because…why the heck not? It’s not worth making my work collect dust until they’re scrummaged through at an estate sale. But you’ve been really helpful with walking the line of social media marketing and poetry. It’s like poetry is trying to find a place in this tech world we live in and I think your videos offer a lot of insight on how to keep poetry relevant through it all.

Following! Me too! I just started an Instagram but it’s under my pen name and I don’t show my face. So I’m trying to see what others are doing or if it’s successful.
I have just started publishing my own peotry on TikTok too like yourself I don't show my face I just put up a image or visual of the poem I'm publishing
and use my own voice to read it out apps like voice changer or capcut are good for doing this
It's always a good idea to show your face, so that your audience can relate to you better. However TikTok poetry trends tend to just be a shot of your poem so go ahead! Experiment with different things and see what works best and what you're most comfortable with! There are always exceptions to any rule! Atticus doesn't show his face, and as I say a lot of TikTok videos for poetry don't have any faces! Hope this helps and just dive in and have fun! Adam
