My dad was always a devoted fan of letterman. He worked nights, though, so he’d set the vcr to record every show through the week. On Saturdays he would spend the day catching up. I was too young to understand all of the jokes or to recognize many of the guests, but my dad was always so joyful watching the show that I couldn’t resist being a part of it. Of course I grew to love Dave myself, as I grew up ... but when I watch these classic clips I am overwhelmed with memories of my dad. I miss him every day.
It's been a while since I've been there, but that was about the level. I just checked. The water level in March 2024 is 1075 feet. In the early 2000's, and about when David Letterman made this, it was about 1,200 feet. It's still quite low.
@@danehawk6367 Actually, if you watch his current vignettes with Barbara Baines on YT, he sounds much less bitter now than in his heyday. He could be very mean and sarcastic back then, even at the expense of the non-rich and non-powerful.
It's true that there is water seepage. If you take the dam tour, you'll see water seeping on the walls and on the floor in certain spots. They're confident the dam isn't going to burst. I hope not. At least while I'm there.

Nice memories, Rebecca. Thanks for sharing.
That's my grandpa Jack. Seeing this brings back so many good memories.
There you go someone finally uploaded a good skit and you can't barely hear the audio. Freaking awesome
Look at that water level. The way it supposed to be.

holy crap, lake meade actually had water in it back then!!!
Not sure why Lake Meade is called a "lake" but my thoughts exactly.
As I recall, the running gag was that Jerry Vale was there each night.
love dave miss him
Dave was the best back then😂😂
David's a funny guy, he's got a unique talent for comedy. One of the best.
Sebastien 1980 Used to be. Now just a bitter old man.
@@danehawk6367 I know, he was good in the late 80s to late 90s 👍✝️

Midnight... and the kitties are sleeping.
Those were more innocent times.
You can say that again ✝️👍
I like Jack...."Not to my knowledge" When Letterman tell him to shim up the poles, he just says "Alright sir"
"Please push and shove your way to the nearest emergency exit."

Back when there was water in the river
Dave Letterman is the Goofiest Looking Guy ever !
Melissa Blody he looks like Alfred E.Newman
wasn't everything so innocent then?
Dazlidorne Jenkins this kind of humor was fresh. Dave was the first . Now it’s just hate on trump and pc.
"Where the damn bite?"
@Protoman85 lmao can't wait for that show to be back on tv
I’m the 100th like!
@@pigjubby1 Nothing significant about that! 😆 Let us know when you're the 400th
Does anyone know why those electrical towers lean like that?
it's to keep the lines far away from the canyon walls
They haven’t been shimmed up yet.
When did it become "The" Hoover Dam?
Sound quality is appalling. Dave would be spinning in his grave.
Go Doyers
Excuse me, I just have a question... is this a god dam?
advertising possibilites omg ;D;D
Duh! It hoovers;need I say more!
Look at that bathtub ring. Not so narrow today that's for sure.
