    Once when drift fishing overnight in the Gulf Stream, we had a “spot light” bearing down on us. Started the engines and took off. We couldn’t seem to get out of the way. All lines got tangled up, the other two onboard stumbled out of the little cabin shouting instructions. The panic subsided once we realized the rising moon wasn’t going to catch us. The belt as a "fuse" is a very good feature! Glad to see they built it that way. Remember to actually take that shaft apart and loop a new belt over it later, so if you break a belt later you'll still have that backup.

    • @Steve-qn8gn
      @Steve-qn8gn 3 месяца назад +9

      @@LabRatJason I disagree, there should be a torque converter that could handle that sudden load. The snapping of a belt is lazy engineering. Effective, but lazy.

    • @ayeartovolunteer
      @ayeartovolunteer 3 месяца назад +4

      @@Steve-qn8gn Same here. I was thinking a slip clutch instead. You'd want to have a dozen belts onboard in this case.

    • @LabRatJason
      @LabRatJason 2 месяца назад

      @@Maaniic Shear bolts are a pain in the ass to replace, because they shear at the interface between motor and pully. So you'd have to get a drill and an easy-out to remove the broken off section of the bolt. The way the engine is put together you can't access the back-side of where the belt pully is bolted on. In other words, with shear bolts, you need to be able to use a punch to knock out the remainder of the bolt, but you can't do that if it's the threaded part. Really, it would probably be best to go up a step in technology here. The belt pully should probably have a clutch as others here have said. But there is also a non-zero chance that a complex clutch mechanism fails and strands you, and belts are cheap.

It quickly made a huge difference in how we felt, we have more energy and it even helped with my attitude. Engle fridges never die - 12 volt and 24. I have a couple that are 35 years old. Better to have two fridges -you lose less air when you open one of them. Put all the stuff in plastic boxes then you don't lose the air in the box either. Very efficient. This also means when you supplies are low you can turn a fridge off. Equally good are the Samsung 255 litre Fridges that have been in many caravans on Australian rough dirt roads for 9 years that are still going well. They chew 39 watts all the time and have a 55 litre freezer in them. Two of those would be awesome - when you get low in food turn one off. If one breaks at least you have the other one. NOBODY goes without good refrigeration to live -at the money you have spent -nor should you.

    I’ve grown up sailing with a family who is very hands on at fixing problems but oh boy am I blown away by the level of issues you are having with this HH boat. I’d never heard of this brand until you ordered your boat and I was so excited for such a beautiful and innovative cat. Sometimes the reality is just so disappointing. The boat is gorgeous and you are both beyond kind and patient with your retrained feedback but I am absolutely blown away with the level of issues you’re having. They seem to be constant and across every part of the boat. I totally understand that there will always be a few issues on an innovative new design and this is at a mind blowing level. On a really fundamental level I really do wonder if you can rely on this boat to keep you safe in dangerous conditions, you need to be able to rely on it. Then on top of things the issues with the warranty work was utterly egregious, damage to the boat by HH workers is just beyond belief. So far the only good thing I’ve seen of HH so far is that they can do an inspiring concept and have some pleasant staff.

    You also may be over stocking your refrigerator/freezer. There should be a induction "full" line inside the bins. If you go past the fill line it would cause a airflow or the "air curtain" issue inside and it won't be able to perform a proper defrost cycle and cause ice to build up. If defrost is still not operating properly then check for bad fuses. Usually there is a dedicated fuse for the defrost

    Good video as always. Tip: Next time fridge goes out just use it as cooler. Add your ice bags to keep refrigerator space cool. That way you don’t have to
    move food.

    Fridge workaround.
    Ask HH if it is possible to bypass the circuit board and run the compressor (cooling part) manually until they can replace the board. I have an older unit running like this of a smart plug ( used a timer before that ). 20-30 min 3 times a day keeps mine at 3°C. Just don't forget it if you run it manually on a switch, then you have an extra freezer. Tried that to 🙄
    Take care 👋

    Your boat reminds me of the Walkman I bought from the Home Shopping Network. The cassette player looked like a Sony waterproof Walkman in a vibrant yellow color for less than half the price. I remember my first impression as I open the package and it was light as a feather. It was a pretty case with garbage components. That was a $30 mistake. How bout you guys?

But honestly, since you started using them, I've been looking for a pair just so my husband and I stop yelling at each other when we're launching our bass boat at the ramp or backing it into its spot at home. 😆

    Re clothing and sun. I have often wondered why your steering area (excuse the layman's terms) has no protection from the sun, wind, and cold. Or are there protective blinds/covers that you can roll down that we have not seen? Protecting our faces from the sun is particularly important as far as ageing goes - hats with large floppy brims and protective neck and side panels needed.
