I tried both these places when I visited Vietnam and they are soooo different from eachother. The bbq pork was awesome and more reminiscent of the types of banh mi we eat in Australia but the one from Huynh Hoa blew me away. It was everything I expected from a Traditional banh mi and totally worth the price. I think about it often ❤

Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa is a bomb. We used Grab to order it togo for our flight back to the U.S. and it worth every single penny. We was so full and skipped all the boring inflight meals that Eva offered.
My experience is minimal, but the pickling of the veges; or extra pickles: seems to help cut through the meats and add that extra layer that makes a good banh mi. Otherwise the pate can overpower everything else.
I just found out about your channel thru Max and some other youtubers but I absolutely love your style of videos. It's peaceful and informative and your narration is very calm as well. Makes me miss Vietnam a whole lot more than I should. Hopefully you'll get the chance to try vietnamese egg coffee and bun bo hue, which are my favorites! I am Vietnamese who lives in Canada 🇨🇦. The “ Banh Mi “ here costs 7$dollars/ eac. The sad part is that they have only two places selling them. One place is not good, the other is average. I don’t have many choices. I envied you because I know you have more choices in HoChiMinh city. Thank you for sharing this video.
I don't often eat bread, but when I do, French bread is my go to. Bahn Mi looks delightful. Looks like there are varieties of "toppings" to choose from, and looks like you are enjoying your Bahn Mi tremendously as well, Joe. 😊
It is hard to beat French bread, that is for sure. Oh you know I enjoyed them Panna, after so long without good bread, it was a delight. But both of those in their own right were delicious. Especially the second with the pate. I still crave it now.

In Saigon there is a lot of bread. Each place will have its own flavor. you have to buy many places. You will enjoy different flavors. Wish you have a fun and happy trip to Vietnam

@@hungrytoexplore lol it's not bad. I think of all the North American fast food joints, subway is probably the most "fresh" and "healthy" at least in canada. I dont eat there much as ive used to do. Their white chocolate macadamia cookies are so addictive. I swear they bake crack in there because when ive used to go, i always get a dozen. Ive stopped going when the cookies got smaller and smaller But yeah it's hard to beat VN's affordable foods and pricing. Man it's been awhile since ive been back to visit my native land.

Best in Saigon is the stalls you find in the alleyway entrances. $.60 US. I ate two of them every morning and one for a bedtime snack every day I was there for two weeks.
Those rolls look amazing. I love the cold cuts, pickled veggies, pate cilantro mayo hold the chilli for me. 😩 My only wish is, they’d come up with a gluten free roll. 😉

You should have compare traditional Hong Hoa vs traditional Huynh Hoa to see which is better. For me i prefer Hong Hoa more because they give more meat vs Huynh Hoa more Pâté
banh mi Huynh Hoa is much more expensive, but it does look better. Wonder why they have the veggie separate for everyone. Usually, it's only done so when requested by customers when they travel far or won't eat the banh mi right away.
you need to try Banh Hoi chao Tom , Banh. Hoi thit nem nuong and Banh hoi Thit Heo Nuong ( grind shrimp dumpling wrapped on sugar cane then grill eat with Banh hoi - thin blanket noodle with herbs ; and grill pork or Heo quay

Huyen Hua is SOOOO good - the classic banh mi there is HUGE and so tasty and fresh, it's well-worth standing in line for. The reason it's so expensive is that it has about 700gm of meat!! It's huge!
I found the banh mi “Huynh Hoa” a little too dense and rich for my liking. First initial bites were amazing and then it got sickening due to all the pate that was in there. Only managed to eat half the roll and binned the rest. I find the banh mi in Australia to be better. Just my 2 cents 😂
It's funny that every single RUclipsr goes to the exact same food places 🤣 in HCM. HCMC has thousands of Banh Mi shops, and you guys all go to the exact same place😂. OMG! HCM city has 24 districts with thousands of street food, try explore and experience different banh mi shops. Traveling is all about experience and exploring. Many banh mi shops are way better and more delicious than this place.
When building a channel, you also need exposure and need to understand the baseline of what people consider a good version. Then you can explore other places too. You’ll see in upcoming videos I don’t just film the same ones as everyone else :)
There’s a bubble tea spot like 4 doors down to the left the Banh Mi huynh. That bánh mì place give u a lot of food & still cheaper then America. In Maryland: the Banh Mi is $7 & less meat 🤦🏻. Not even good as well
In Melb Australia, we have a shop close by, they charge $12, for a longer roll but very little filling, and they use cos lettuce. 🤷♀️ It’s not an authentic Vietnamese Bahn Mi roll 🇻🇳 We can get a really good one, but you have to shop around. 😊
I would think it was the French “period” it went through. Great bread. Such a contrast to the trendy sourdough breads that is taking over the south of Asia.😊
Im on my way to Vietnam in 2 months and cant wait to eat as many banh mi as i can. I have only had a few in Australia and am excited to try an authentic one.
I never tried a proper Banh mi before and always called it a “Vietnamese bun”😂 but the bread we have here is different. The one you had looks good and the bread seems to be crispy..be careful not to break your teeth though! hahaha.
Oh, have you managed to find good Vietnamese food in London? Obviously the price is different but the thing I loved about living in London was you could find decent food from any country

Bahn Mi sell for >$12++ in the US. More expensive in big cities like NY, LA, SF, etc.
They are absolutely everywhere, I was eating so many of them haha. The perfect snack, at any time of day.

This might trigger a huge debate -- I think the essence of the Bahn Mi is actually the pickles and herbs. 😝
pickles are certainly important, especially in the pate version. Otherwise it is too rich.
The pickles definitely are essential as the acidity will balance out the protein and fats

I never tried a proper Banh mi before and always called it a “Vietnamese bun”😂 but the bread we have here is different. The one you had looks good and the bread seems to be crispy..be careful not to break your teeth though! hahaha.
thankfully I know a decent dentist. It is like a light fluffy French baguette, the influence they left behind. That second banh mi is a stunner!
