You can also cook this in an Instant pot. Add all the ingredients Jess recommends, and then set your instant pot to 9 minutes. After it beeps, you can do a quick release and then follow her directions from there. I've done that several times and it comes out great. Enjoy!!

We add straight syrup to unsweetened iced tea. We let everyone add what they want to their own glass, and I am sure its more than a spoonful. No one thinks of it as medicine, but as a treat. It's that good.

I can say hands down Elderberry is the very best flu / cold prevention and remedy. A few years ago we were hit by the flu. I was the only one that consistently took it. Needless to say I cared for 5 family members with flu and was Blessed not to get it. I use the same recipe as Jess, its just good stuff !!

Thank you for this recipe I have elder berries on our property and I'm looking at propagating more plants this spring. I will be getting cuttings from these plants and I have a few friends who are wanting to have these in their yard as well. I'm very excited about expanding these plants, I understand their benefits but haven't really been serious about using them. I watched a video by OG with Doug and Stacy they were getting new starts planted around their chicken coop. So thank you again for sharing your life with us, God bless dear and your family💞

I have been making elderberry syrup for several years now. I can a case of 12 pints at a time, so we have it whenever we need it. I gave my mom and sister some last year, and they call it their crack juice - bahaha. but for all of you out there, another option if Amazon is out or too expensive for the same product and usually cost a lot less is on www.iHerb.com (shipping is normally free if you spend $20.00). Thanks again Jess for such a great video. we love our homemade elderberry syrup throughout the year and elderberry juice over ice during the summer mixed with a little water -its very refreshing.

Another Tuber I watched pointed out that raw honey loses all its benefits when heated to temps required for canning, so just use sugar. Cheaper & more readily available.
I'm not sure if some sort of beneficial conversion occurs for our consumption but I regularly turn the sugar into a simple syrup when wine making. The conversion that does occur when used for this purpose eliminates the "lag time" for the yeast to begin utilizing it.

I think its important to note that you CAN overdo it if you have autoimmune issues. When your immune system is already elevated because its fighting something added on something like elderberry kicks it up a notch and if you're not careful you can overdo it and send yourself into a flair up because you've over stimulated the immune system. As someone who has autoimmune issues I have to be careful how much I take and know when to back off on it.
