Apparently this was gonna be the final album back in 1991. That’s why there was no outro (all others had one)
Years ago, as i was returning from work, i saw firefighters rushing and smoke from a fire in an area that was my home. At an instant moment, i thought that maybe my apartment also was on fire. So, i run like all hell, with one thing only in mind. If fire ablaze, i MUST save the vinyl of 'Twilight' only. All other material stuff are of no care at all. Hopefully there was an abandon building only burning. But, the thing is, that this record, since it came out, became the most precious spirit companion of mine. I knew, since the very first sound i heard from it, that it carved my soul till the time to meet my Forefathers. May the High Gods provide Health to all good people, and let the braves Enter the Mountain with pride, after a worthy life living. A salute to all those who have been deep touched by this music and lyrics of Quorthon.

Но в эту музыку, написанную молодым юношей, заложены эмоции, боль и жизненный опыт человека, прожившего целую, или даже несколько жизней. У Куортона была старая душа. Такие люди приходят в наш мир, чтобы выполнить определённую миссию - передать данный опыт остальному человечеству, часто через символику и образы искусства, а затем навсегда этот мир покидают, вспыхнув новой звездой на ночном небосклоне.

Да и творчество Квотрона не идеализируйте, местами круто и талантливо, местами влиятельно, но не настолько, чтобы считать невозможным написать такое в 20 с чем-то лет)
А ещё, в Батори успел поиграть на барабанах Юнас Окерлунд, ставший в последствии киношником и снявший кучи топовых клипов, а так же снявший фильм Повелители Хаоса.

This Gustav Holst rendition in "Hammerheart" titled track, has always been my favorite, and most listened to track from Quorthon, especially around 2004. Sad, I was so fucking traumatized when he died, it set me off into a crazy downward spiral after that of depression, from my own shit too, but Quorthon's voice always was soothing, and his music always so epic. He left of bond of blood, forged in fire and ice, a legacy.
It's a fantastic track from start to finish.
Something I've been searching for is what performance of Jupiter he used for the track.
Quorthon is a god to me. Hordes for life - Bathory CAN change your life. This album hangs on my wall.

Ironically, Quorthon strikes me as someone who was probably quite liberal, but if he saw what was going on in the West nowadays maybe that wouldn't be the case any longer.

This is why Twilight of the Gods is (possibly) the best Bathory song. It's lyrics perfectly encapsulate so much that is wrong today.

I think it's awesome that he made more albums after this, some of my favorite Bathory songs are off of them. But damn, imagine if he would've left on this note. 1984-1991, 6 legendary albums.
I think every album after this is good to some degree, but if this were the last album of his, "Hammerheart" (the song) would have been even MORE emotional than it already is.
Imagine if Blood on Ice came in time in 1989 and not 1996
And the original Requiem also in 1989 was realized.
The very first Bathory album I heard. It was recommended to me to listen to and I bought it upon listening. Still have the original CD plus a longsleeve shirt.

When you start listening to more classical and so much is familiar. Go to the 3 minute mark in Holst's Jupiter.
Another precious gem made by Bathory,from Swedish mother womb to conquer the world.This band will always be very,very unique and especial that concerns over its sound.
It being dark, epic and orchestral at the same like a way to set ourselves souls free out the bodies to let it fly in total freedom to coming forth the eternal peace that lies within.

I love the incredible, classic guitar play in the connecting sections between songs. Perfect masterpiece. This was the first album in my collection in 1992 which I bought as a CD and not as vinyl. But I have both, of course. Never enough Bathory. I am eternally sad that Quorthon, the genius died at age 38! What an artist, in his prime. No one can replace him. The only band that sometimes gets somewhat close to Bathory in the viking style, maybe is Falkenbach...

Quorthon advance black metal from Venom, and Viking metal from Manowar. I'm not taking anything away from the man; I'm just saying, let's remember those who came before him as well.
May of just had viking in his swedish blood
i'm a fan of both venom and manowar, i really like them, but he have just been inspired, cause he transformed the viking of the mano and the trash-black of the venom, so it became something really original. maybe there are like 2/3 songs that sound similar to others, but they have been transformed like every other thing that quorthon did

I got the original CD but my CD player reads only 6 tracks and then I realized Twlight of the Gods, Through Blood by Thunder and Blood and Iron are just one track that lasts around 30 minutes and I don't know if it is only my copy, if someone else has a copy can you tell me if it happens the same??? In my copy too. I don't know why they did that. According to Wikipedia they did it in the remastered version in 2003.
