Not pausing the video while reacting to the song is an underrated feature of this channel.
Yeah there's another guy pausing the video every 5 second then talk for 2 minutes it's so annoying 😂
I confirm, It's so stupid..
I can understand pausing the video when the image has a lot of weight in the content, but the first reaction to a song shouldn't be paused
Edgar Allan Poe once said that you should never read a short story in two sittings, bc it ruins its essence. Same thing with music imo; don’t interrupt it
Fr like do an Undisrupted play through *then* go ahead and do your break down.
Hades is the best game i played in 2021. It's insane to think that the guy singing, Darren Korb, was the lyricist for the track and composed the entire OST for the game and that he also voiced Zagreus, the main character, and Skelly, (wich sound nothing like eachother).
He and Ashley Barrett sing and write all the supergiant games ost's. They are employees as far as I remember. He's made 4 fantastic soundtracks now.
I didn't knew he was Zagreus voice
A very talented person.
@@hollowlord9604 agreed
He is an amazing composer, all the soundtracks of the Supergiant games, Bastion, Transistor, Pyre and Hades all incorporate such different genres from like Outlaw country in Bastion, to Drum and Bass in Transistor and classic rock in Pyre and the dude always does it all by himself just calling up Ashley Barrett for vocals
Darren Korb described the Hades soundtrack as "Mediterranean Prog-Rock Halloween music"
I concur
Hearing this in-game was amazing, but my absolute favorite from the Hades OST was Lament of Orpheus. Coming out of the pool after a run and randomly hearing Orpheus singing it completely floored me. Also sung by Darren Korb, an absolute god(multiple, actually).
Yeah, hearing Orpheus singing his tale as a song was arresting.
Well I'm, an adult person, naturally cried when I heard this song first time in game when *spoilers*. It is really a masterpiece
They waited for the perfect moment for this song, and Charon tipping his hat always got me. He never speaks in the game, yet he still has personality
@@stingerjohnny9951 The quiet sibling cares the most.
Hades is a game that has consumed too many hours from me... *But not enought*
funny i love the style and music and overall vibe of all the Supergiant games, but haven't finished any of them.
They have very different kind of games, but they never click with me gameplay wise.
One is too many. A thousand is never enough.
I adore In the Blood, how it perfectly weaves the main theme into a GORGEOUS song. It's just...perfect
Not just the main theme, but also the Surface theme - or rather Persephone's theme - in the chorus.
Seriously. The moment you beat Dad for the first time, and the moment Mom comes home were the most spine chilling moments of the game for me so far and all thanks to the amazing soundtrack. I am SO OBESSED with this game right now.
Orpheus’s lament is another good hades OST
"Home is not where you live, but who cares when you're gone"
I ain't crying you crying!
Some excellent thoughts here.
The analysis you made about the lyrics was amazing, and that connection you made was so brilliant because it's literally just shy of being the exact same case for the game of Hades.
[spoilers apply]
The main character, Zagreus, is spun as god with tense relations with his father. And who else would be his father, than Hades?
Zagreus attempts to flee the Underworld to meet his mother, Persephone, for the first time, as she has a recent falling out with Hades and presumably hasn't known Zagreus since he was an infant. But because Zagreus is a being of the Underworld, the god of blood and rebirth, he cannot survive outside of the Underworld itself - literally, he may run all he wants, because it can't amount to anything. And yet, _THE FATES PREDICTED HE WILL ESCAPE._
That's what's so brilliant about the story and game - it's like a new Greek myth interpreting vague characters in a new story, because Zagreus was indeed an actual Greek god with confusing and vague ties to the Underworld and Hades. There's certainly some artistic liberties, yet basically all of the characters are remarkably fairly accurate to what is stated in Greek mythology. So Supergiant Games spins a myth of Zagreus being the son of Hades and Persephone, with the Fates declaring that Zagreus will achieve something that should ultimately be impossible and futile.
usual reccomendation for octopath traveler: those who gorvern reason with any character intro
I second this
I triple this
you should react to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater's main theme - The song itself is called Snake Eater by Cynthia Harrell
Reacting to unseen ones would be quite something - doing a deep dive into Hades’ music would be fun
\*Banned for containing too many musical notes*
Okay now we need a Bastion song and a Transistor song some time soon
Edit: There's also the pyre
really incredible how you were able to touch at the main themes of the story of Hades just by analyzing these song lyrics
Perfect understanding of how the song and the game correlates. The games follows the journey of Astreus a son of Hades trying to scape Hades (Hades is both the god and the name of hell too) to find the truth about his mother. Through his journey he learn more and more about the truth while his father tries to stop him with trials until when reaching the surface Hades himself faces him.
So this is why the lyrics have a strong emphasis of your blood and family, the hardships of departing (there are some subplots of other characters as well that follows this), and so on. This particular one plays at the credits when you succeed the ultimate goal.
The whole game is filled with awesome tracks and the overall plot is fantastic. There's another song from this same female singer (that also voices one character in the game) that is very pleasant to hear, i recommend you look for it.
Zagreus is the son of Hades, Asterius is the very good minotaur
If u want to be seen as smart or poetic whatever and copy paste this shit u found on internet atleast get the mc name right kiddo its embarrassing lol
If you looked into the Hades OST then you definitely want to check out the Doom Eternal OST, stiff competition between them for best OST of last year. I'd love to see your thoughts on Meathook, BFG Division, or The Only Thing They Fear Is You, I think you'd love them. Love the content as always.
DOOM OST is ratchet and full of head bangers but Hades with its fuller orchestration and melodies would be "better" music imo. Doom OST is more thrashy mob pit. Heavy AF, just less there to analyze from a composition standpoint.
I don't think he'll react to it since he almost definitely has already listened to it. You can sense it in his reaction of Bury the Light towards the end when he talks about Mick Gordon's legacy in Doom.
React to "Hunter x Hunter - Kingdom of Predators" you will 100% enjoy it.
Chimera Ant Arc overall has an awesome soundtrack
Yes, it's just beautiful
Rip catboy ;(
This was the first song I encouraged you to react to, and you replied you already had it in mind for a poll. Glad it made it and you have enjoyed this masterpiece from Darren Korb. This game is super well polished and this ending song rounds up a story with a lot of food for thought to our daily lives and relationships. Thanks Atlas, this one was specially well received on my side. Keep up the amazing work!
Please react to "Fields of Ard Skellig" in Witcher 3 ❤️
What an awesome song!
I’ve been secretly waiting for this
I think knowing the context of the game is really important, makes you appreciate the emotions in it so much more, hearing those particular characters sing this song in that particular scene really got me emotional 😢 You should really play this game, it's a masterpiece 💚
Pls react to other Kevin Penkin's OSTs, he is one of my favourite music composers. I think you should check in particular "Hanezeve Caradhina" and "The Rumble of Scientific Triumph" from the Made in Abyss, "Irregular God" and "Berserker Bam" from Tower of God. I think you will GREATLY enjoy them.
This is one of my favorite songs from a video game soundtrack and probably my favorite of the ones that have lyrics.
There is a lady on youtube, Julia Henderson, that has an amazing cover of the song.
This is what reactions should be.
Not pausing the video (if possible), analyzing from the certain field (in this case music) POV and actually adding something instead of just gawking, structure in the analysis and/or thoughts.
God damn, this was a pleasure to listen to. I'll be sure to give a couple more videos a watch.
Ohhh!!! I was gonna suggest Hades, everything Darren Korb does is amazing. Your recommendations are in good hands I see...
I recommend you react to Theme of Laura from Silent Hill 2 next :)
Truly an underrated channel, I love how you break down not only the song itself, but the contexts behind the lyrics etc.
Love all these vids, i keep discovering new songs i love damn
Recommendations
Bleach: Invasion, La distancia para un duelo, treachery
AOT: WIMD, Apple seed

OMG NICEEEEEEEEEEEEE
AMAZING STUFF!! No, for real, really nice reaction man, I hope you are doing well and that you are save... Where's gehrman though?
Love your reactions! It's always interesting to hear the opinions from other people.
Lament of Orpheus is pretty cool too
High quality content as always. Thank you for the analysis, it's really great for people that aren't really very musically literate like myself. I suggest the Space Lion song from Cowboy Bebop for a future video.
(It's also amazing how you can reach the core of Hades story just from a song, that tells you how great your musical knowledge is, and how outstanding Darren's composition is too.)
It is genuinely even more amazing if you hear it for the first time in context of the game. It is genuinely satisfying and made me cry in happiness.
I played Hades but never got to this song as you could finish the main story and not hear it. I teared up hearing it. Hades is a truly beautiful game.
Guys dont comment you should react to this everytime you can just appreciate the quality of his breakdown lmao
YESSS YESSSSSSSS
13th attempt on asking for a
“Gehrman The First Hunter”Bloodborne ost reaction.
You need to react to "Paper Boats" from Transistor, is awesome too
Would honestly recommend listening to some of Supergiant's other pieces. "Brusher Patrol", " Never to Return" and "The Spine" are stand-outs to me.
Here's a song I'd love to see you react to: Noosphere - Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus OST
I can honestly say I've never heard a soundtrack that encapsulates the feeling of a universe better than this WH40K: Mechanicus soundtrack. To be honest, if you had time I'd watch your reaction to the entire soundtrack!
Thanks man, I didn't know about it, but you were right, really good one!
Heard it its mediocre at best
Absolutely loved the video!
You should do Sir Alonne's theme or Midir's theme, or both!
Thank you 🙂 I did Midir already
@@AtlasBenighted I must've missed it while looking 😵
I'm excited for more of your reactions nonetheless :)
i can appreciate pretty much anything Darren Korb makes (usually with Ashley Barrett), Transistor has some of the best non-orchestral music in games IMO
Very nice, didn't even expect the historical explanations. Now, you have to play the game, it's just as brilliant as is this track ;)
discord gang discord gang
You shold react to American Venom from read dead redemption 2 . It is my favorite old weast song of all time .
Ayy finally Hades
Hope a reaction to Blasphemous would come soon
i was playing ck2 earlier and i heard a an incredible piece of music. it is called horns of Hattin and the aftermath. i haven't seen you react to anything like it and it is incredible,
if you like Ashley voice you should react someday to We All Become One of the Transistor OST, is a banger song
You should check out the Warhammer Titan's theme from Attack on Titan (not sure what the actual song is called if anything else).
hades has beautiful music. it really adds alot more enjoyment to the game even after the gameplay is mastered. moves me till today
Hey ATLAS, would you react and analyse the Prince of Persia Trilogy OST? Maybe do a vid on each game: Sands Of Time, Warrior Within and Two Thrones. Their music is insane and would be cool to see how you explain it.
Nice discord i even posted about gehrman
Hades really is something else! I would recommend Rain World and Hyper light Drifter for some very good indie game soundtracks, Hunter x Hunter and Erased for anime.
Hello Atlas, love this series! Keeping with the indie/underdog theme from the last video, I think you would enjoy listening and reacting to a track called "Mr. Handagote" from the point-and-click game Machinarium. The entire OST is exquisite and an example of great ambience overall, but in my opinion this one really stands out (it instantly became one of my favorites). Thanks, and keep up the great work! :)
god i love that game to death and back
what about "The Wolven Storm (Priscilla's song)" from the witcher 3
oh yee boooooi, finally you found the masterpiece that is the soundtrack of Hades! Let's goooo
Please do the first hunter, it’s from Bloodborne and has already been recommended numerous times.
Plz do a reaction on gehrman’s first hunter ost from bloodborne and also the ost of his beloved Lady Maria 🙏🙏🙏
You have gotta gotta do Gehrman the First Hunter from Bloodborne
MORE HADES! 🖤❤️
Ashley Barret might be my favorite female singer ever, I absolutely LOVE her singing
Darren Korb and Ashley Barret are so perfect I can't even
I'd love to see you react to Light through the Leaves of Love (symphonic)
I think that also the seamless transitions of the music as context of the game changes deserves a mention, I think that the music is in some way arranged to make those transitions easier
Heya, I dabble in game music composition and it's honestly not all that complicated, you have each instrument and it's variations playing on their own "track" throughout the game concurrently, its exactly like any DAW software you may use. This allows developers to change music dynamically for example:
When hp is below 30%
Percussion volume +10%
Mute strings
Play main lead Var. 2
Etc. Etc. This is pretty common practice for some bigger games but it isnt usually implemented as well unfortunately. Game music is pretty unique in that its the only kind of music that has the ability to be played dynamically, it's also why a lot of music in games doesnt tend to have lyrics.
@@OroppoWho that’s super interesting thanks for sharing :)
Check out gehrman the first hunter
Day 45 of asking him to react to Un Sogno from JoJo's
When will you react to the Abyss Watchers OST?
please react to “Asuras Wrath- Main Theme- In Your Belief”
Probably one you haven't heard before, but I would really like it if you analyzed the soundtrack for the 2017 anime Land of the Lustrous. Either the OP, Cinnabar's theme, or the Lunarian theme. All three are radically different from each other and as re excellent. The OP in particular is probably my favorite of all time because of how complex and interesting it is to hear. The other two pieces have nontraditional instrumentation that I really enjoyed and really brings out the emotion in the music in ways that normal instruments couldn't. One of my favorite soundtracks of all time.
Hi, uh, sorry that's offtopic but I would be curious to see you react to some parts of sekiro's soundtrack, which is another game by Miyazaki and From Software, as I felt like it wasn't on par with the other titles while playing. Thank you
Agreed
The best one was lady butterfly and it wasn't nearly as good as Bloodborne sountracks
Maybe on par with d1 and ds2 osts
@@ogAdoptedfatty up. I also like the owl's different compositions
demon of hatred is kinda fire tho 😳😳
@@PotassiumLover33 yeah I dont meanthe osts are bad. Theyre great but theyre not as good as the other stuff fromsoft made
@@ogAdoptedfatty id probably agree but im just saying I think demon of hatred (and maybe owl father) are just as good as other great tracks in the other osts
Since you reacted to Coalescence it's almost necessary to react to its Risk of Rain 2 counterpart, "...con lentitud poderosa". Though so many other songs by Chris Christodoulou are amazing too
While Darren Korb is known to write the song it can’t be not said Austin Wintory (who is also well know for his work with Journey) didn’t work a lot. The description where they uploaded their songs you can see every person who is credited
He need to watch and listen to the 2020 game awards orchestra
Please Check out
LEGOSHI'S Feelings (ROUIS'S Feelings Alt Version)
from Beastars it's a 2Minute long OST but still absolutely outstanding.
Ayo u should react to lady maria ost from bloodbirne
100% you need to do gehrman
I recommend reacting to "The Legend Descends - Fatalis" from monster Hunter world Iceborne or perhaps a medley of all its theme. It's an awesome ost.
Please react to Jenova Quickening from Final Fantasy VII Remake!
Great analysis as always"
please listen to Risk of Rain's "'Chanson d'Automne" and its spiritual successor Risk of Rain 2's "The Rain Formerly Known as Purple"
Alot of people have told me if you like any of the soulsborne games to check this game out. After hearing this soundtrack I'm definitely bout to pick this game up. It really does remind me of a Dark Souls ost just with a different style
Pls for the love of all that is holy do “good riddance” from the Hades ost it is fantastic
GIORNO'S THEME.
Assassin's Creed II - Ezio's Family
Assassin's Creed II - Venice Rooftops
Assassin's Creed III - Main Theme
Assassin's Creed Revelations - Main Theme
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Parting Glass
Assassin's Creed Rogue - Main Theme
Assassin's Creed Unity - Dark Slayer
Assassin's Creed Syndicate - Family
Assassin's Creed Origins - Ezio's Family
Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Main Theme
Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Odyssey (Modern Version)
Assassin's Creed Valhalla - Ezio's Family, Ascending to Valhalla.
One of those and you make ac fans happy (especially with AC II's Ezio's Family).
I see a lot of people requesting Gehrman's theme, and I agree, that is probably #1 on the priority list in terms of Soulsborne themes, but have you listened to the Main Menu Theme for Dark Souls 3? For being only a menu theme, that OST is surprisingly epic, and gets you hyped to play the game anytime you open it up.
You can actually find the entire soundtrack on youtube on the official Supergiant Games youtube channel!
Sealed vessel please
I would like to see you react to Shriek and Ori from the game Ori and the Will of the Wisps. This game has a god tier soundtrack and this is the pinnacle piece in my opinion.
Please react to Lament of Orpheus from Hades!
TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You look like a budget version of old Headhunterz.
Good video.
Engagement for the engagement god!
😄
Hi, could you do a video about a track from ARK: Survival Evolved? I feel like the music deserves more attention. I like all tracks but the Overseer Battle-Theme is without doubt the best (and pretty long :D If you don't want to hear the whole 12 mins, skip after ~4:03 to ~11:15, which is the part you get after defeating the boss)
Do a reaction of the theme of Lorian and Lothric from Dark Souls 3
A good one I'd suggest is Journey from Destiny 2 featuring the Kronos Quartet, it's a great piece
