  • Are you wanting to move into a new industry, with ZERO experience in the new industry? Changing career paths can be daunting, especially if you feel you have nothing to offer because of your ‘lack’ of industry experience.
    In this video which was part of my Q&A with Shadé series, I share with Javier my best tips on how to transition between industries to position yourself in the best possible way that leverages the value you bring. Javier was looking to transition, but not entirely sure how to position himself to be an appealing candidate given he didn’t have any industry experience.
    *** And good news! Here’s Javier’s update:
    “I did make the industry change, focussing transferrable skills. Once again, thanks a lot. Your refreshing and inspiration ideas came along just at the right time for me to seize the opportunity!”

    Hi Shade', thanks for the nice video. I can fully relate to it. In September 2020, I switched on from Seeds R&D to Crop Protection Development. Entirely new domain. I followed similar tips while preparing and appearing for the 3 rounds of interview. Got selected and now it's 6 months journey in my new role. Management is happy and I received good feedback too. So anyone can do this. Needs right preparation. Thanks for all your inspiring and informative videos. Appreciate your help.

    I have been teaching for more than 10 years. During online learning which is so hard, I think about changing to another job. But then I don’t know what I should do since this is my first job. Of course I never wish I will end up as a teacher for my whole life. Teaching is good, but dealing with parents sometimes is unbearable 🤭
    P.S. I’m still with my previous opinion. You have such nice soothing voice 😄

    Put yourself in the Recruiter's shoes - and with 100 say CV's - most of which have the requisite industry experience. Why would the Recruiter not screen out someone without a more appropriate track record? Hard one to sell without some special circumstances/ network.

    • @ShadeZahrai
      @ShadeZahrai  3 года назад +3

      It really depends on many factors and type of roles. The increased demand for up-skilling across a broader range proficiencies (both technical and soft-skills) has expanded the skill set of many professionals allowing for more transferable skills. Hence why I'm seeing professionals like Javier (and others I've engaged with) being successfully hired for roles outside of their industry experience.

      @@ShadeZahrai Hi Shade, thanks so much for sharing video. I am afraid I have been struggling to get breakthrough as a Scrum Master in software industry being a Non technical Project Manager in localisation industry. In the last 1 year, I had 20 odd rejections in the interviews as I am unable to fullfil the expectation from the interviewer as I have not performed Scrum Master role but I believe I do possess all the traits for this position. I wanted your kind expertise. Thank you!

    • @ShadeZahrai
      @ShadeZahrai  3 года назад +1

      First, I recommend that you identify the prerequisites that are missing for these types of roles and seek feedback from the interviewers that rejected you. Then seek out courses that will help qualify you and do your best to get as much relevant experience (be creative). Good luck!
