After lugging around an 88 key stage piano to gigs for years, I've now seen the light.

One of the interesting things with this is that back in the heavy experimental era of music with the likes of The Beatles, artists and producers and engineers were always looking for interesting sounds and ways of generating musical tones. This could easily have been used on something like Strawberry Fields or similar.

Brilliant, there is an instrument called the kalimba that is very reminiscent of this. Earth Wind Fire used it very well.

If I had an expensive instrument, I'd personally want to keep it inside, out of the dirt and elements.

And by coincidence, it is also sometimes referred to as a "finger piano"!

This is pretty similar to a kalimba. I bought a cheap one of the internet, and to tune it, u just either slide the metal sticks in more or out more for higher and lower tuning.

      Thanks. Curiosity Show was a
national science program for children featuring Dr Rob Morrison and Dr Deane
Hutton. It was made in Adelaide, South Australia and screened nationally in
Australia as well as in Europe, Asia and Australasia (14 countries) from
1972-1990. Deane and Rob intentionally used everyday items around the house
(like old cans) so that children could repeat the demonstrations with materials
they had to hand. In 1984 Curiosity Show won the Prix Jeunesse International,
the world's top award for children's TV programs. Rob and Deane are steadily
uploading segments at ruclips.net/user/curiosityshow Why not subscribe?

This segment was recorded in 1982. You are quite correct - the sentence about mobile phones was overlayed before uloading the segment to our RUclips channel. Deane.

This is more like a electric guitar.
It's close enough for a 10 year old audience.

It's quite like an electric piano as the video implies. A guitar has strings a piano is percussive, so this is a bit like an electric harp I suppose.

everything microphonic technically becomes electronic. Because the sound gets detached from it's pure acoustic nature and becomes "electronic" which can be saved as electromagnetic informations on a tape or converted to digital audio informations on a digital recording medium. In both cases the sound will still be electronic if played back.

Remove the screen from a condenser microphone and tap the diaphragm of the microphone gently against the strings of an acoustic guitar while the microphone is feeding an amplifier.
