The silicone on the gold pins caused a purple growth that broke the connection. The remedy for this was to give the box a kick to get the pins to make contacts again. In the movie, Flight of the Intruder, this was shown in a scene. This reaction was previously unkown and my grandfather was the engineer that made the choice to use this silicone.

However standard RTV makes acetic acid vapor as it cures and it's corrosive to things over time, especially copper in contacts. This was most likely not well known at the time because these sealants were just invented a few years before the design of the A6.

A-10 more agile, better gun, TV bombs, 480flare all loads. A-6 faster, more air missiles, laser bombs, 60-1020flare depending on load. Player preferrence really

In my short experiences, A6 for sure. It's a lower tier with better missiles. Not to mention most aircraft you fight won't have flares, so you can literally fly straight at them and shoot. Basically if they're in front of you free kill, if they're not, you still have flares and hope they miss their guns. But I'd say most of your games your coming out with an average of 2 kills if you play your cards right.
When engineers made lots of planes with hard-class armor, they probably didn't know, that WT don't give a 4uck... One single 7.62 can annihilate whole your team, instead of making a little scratch...

War thunder keeps adding progressively higher tiers and I'm like Still grinding 5.3 - 6.3 since 2019 At this rate I'm going to be unlocking tier 7 just for ground in 2030
@@occunit192 my point is that R-60s are far more likely to fight things that do not have flares, or are not supersonic. The Frogfoot also outperforms the A-10, but, to be fair, so does the A-6. If it were up to me, all aspects and anything more powerful than an AIM-9E would not go below 10.3

So why did you grandfather make this decision? Were the downsides once unknown or was that the only decent option at the time?
