I was thrilled to find this interview up on RUclips. I recorded it on my reel-to-reel, with a mic in front of my AM only clock radio. I was 18 years old. It was kindly copied from my reel to a cassette for me in 1991 (or so) by the late Ted Alvy. I've been looking for the original reel but haven't found it yet. I'm pretty sure Ted gave it back to me...but it has been 21 years. Back then, I duped about a dozen cassettes and sent them to people to spread around. Hope y'all enjoy it!
David s voice was beautiful. His guitar 🎸 sensational..he was young and very intelligent but had no mentors or leaders..at least he was humble n learned from his mistakes..nice looking young man.. funny Guy..he had to learn like everyone else.rip❤️🌹👍🎸
Read recently that Crosby opined that CSNY played with more complexity and were in every way superior to The Byrds. Uh, let's compare Eight Miles High or anything from Notorious Byrd Bros with Almost Cut My Hair, Our House, or Country Girl. Honestly the greatest harmony singer I've ever heard and he's 80 and all but he's always been more than ready and capable of saying the most infuriatingly dumb stuff from the position of rock celebrity, on Q and A record.
Wow, what a rarity. I've read quotes from this interview in Johnny Rogan's Byrds bio, but I didn't know their source and certainly never expected that this audio would still exist. Sounds like it's from a transcription disc. Where on earth did you find it? Whatever the case, it's a great time capsule, and only the third piece of Crosby-era Byrds audio interview material I've encountered. Thanks for posting.
David you are so wrong. Radio has become so corporate since the 80's it's not funny. Underground Radio from the late 60's early 70's was terrific. Nowadays I have to resort to college radio.
You are so right. In 1968 FM radio only played Classical music. Then in Connecticut two college DJ's started WHCH. They played 5-6 songs all that never were played on AM, top 40 radio.
sure ... he was a great insider friend of both David and Stephen and prior to Cassie Elliot introducing Graham to David, it was B Mitchell Reed to played on his radio show, unreleased demo recordings of Stills and Croz -- and he nicknamed the pair THE FROZEN NOSES.

Crosby was a great singer !!! One of the very best on high harmony. Him and Mc Guinn were perfect together.
Dave I think you missed gene clark out there, a class above mcguinn as a singer, a bit better than David!
@@dougreed2257 agree completely Doug , but Gene was gone by late ‘66 iirc
@@davegeisler7802 fair enough dave👍
Nash had The high part
@@benher973in the Byrd's, Crosby sang high harmony

The BMR always talked too fast ! Great on Crosby tho!
Shortly before he was replaced by a horse😂😂
'They(the execs)wanna sell music.' And of course you don't,or didnt.....sure you didn't!
