Well bro, you did it again! Don't know if you've read David's first book "Long Time Gone" but in it he tells a story about writing a letter to the Texas judge who sentenced him to jail. I'm paraphrasing here but basically he told the judge that he wanted to thank him for saving his life. David said he honestly thought if it wasn't for that jail time he almost certainly would have been dead. Crosby was one of my musical heroes. His records with his son James Raymond under the band name CPR are some of the finest vocal work you can listen to. Thanks for this mini-doc and keep them coming!
I gotta tell ya, you make the best tributes to some truly wonderful artists! I enjoy all your videos and you have a great voice for these. This is all heart felt. 👍👍
I Almost Cut My Hair has got to be a classic--it is to my ears! he wrote and sang it. i think he made the statement "if you remember the 70's----you weren't there"! his last tweet says it all---don't it?😆/////////////////thanks for the entertainment River Docs😎✌
Sometimes it only takes one or two cords, or just one line in a song, and you're there.[ It's getting to the point?] we're there. Thanks R/D I'll keep the bell on.
Saw David Crosby and Judy Collins in Claremont CA at one of college theaters... Front row center, literally 20 ft from reaching out and touching them.. after every song he would flip his guitar pick in the audience... Still have it.
David was my best friend, we rode our motorcycles, loved quality objects and cars, then became road manager for a solo tour, reunited after prison, was his guitar tech on a CSN tour. He made dreams come true without even knowing it. The photo with the cat on his shoulder, I was in the room, lived in his guest house for a year or more. This was a fine documentry.
Were you around him during his drug fuelled days? I’m really curious about his drug use because I am 34 years old and struggle with my sobriety. I fear I won’t live long but I see David lived ubtik he was 81 that’s amazing for being an ex addict. Gives me hope! Cheers
The drummer Jim Gordon just died now, the best drummer to work on the most classic songs/albums of the late 60’s / early 70’s. Amazing drummer that everyone has heard over and over but never knew the name of who he was! He was the best is the business.
Great video. I saw CSN during one of their reunion tours in the 90s. A great singer and songwriter. Just not a good person. A tortured soul would probably fit best for him. I know I have that issue at times too. When my life is in balance it’s because I’m spending more time with God. Too bad David didn’t, it may have helped, but he had many demons so who knows. Either way, RIP David, and thanks for all the great music you left behind.
McGuinn & Clark weren't on stage at The Troubadour, but rather the stairwell. They started singing and Crosby joined in. The Byrds only used session players on the first Byrds single.
Just ran out of time, there are about a hundred more things I could have covered if I was doing an hour long documentary on him, but this is only a hobby and I just don't have the time. In these short videos with lots more information to cover it give others a chance to comment on things like you just did that I don't mention. Thanks for watching and your comment.
Like the talent, can't deal with the ego.He felt he was superior to his bandmates in The Byrds. He did a lot of things which impacted The Byrds negatively. He battled with the others in CSN&Y. He almost destroyed himself with drugs. His comments about Daryl Hannah wrecked CSN&Y. He burned so many bridges.
i know hes an icon, and part of the history of music, and did a lot of drugs...but i cant recall any songs..my fault ..mabye theres a big hit i might have heard...all i get is neil young singin tbone.
Hey Chloe! look up the first album by Crosby and Nash "Wind On the Water" and the one they did in like 2004 just titled Crosby Nash. Both are really great!

That’s one hell of a story. Pretty cool.

Some of his best work, on par with CSN, are the albums since CROZ. Genius!

Thanks for the upload. Never cared for him or his music but good info.
You're welcome. Appreciate the support!
Just started getting to know his music much better lately I'm sorry to say.i should have played it more long ago.

Why not mention that Phil Collins paid for his liver transplant back in 1984. It gave David close to 30 years of additional life.
