- Little Dragon is back with their brand new Album “New Me, Same Us”. The Swedish band represents another chapter in the continuous Little Dragon development and delights fans with their unique sound and melodies, somewhere between unconventional r&b, electronic and energetic indie pop. We met Yukimi and Erik at the Ninja Tune office in Berlin for a little chat.
About New Me, Same Us
Completely alone and without any support from outside they produced and recorded “New Me, Same Us” in their long-term and self-built home studio in Gothenburg. The album also shows a reflective mood, with Yukimis unmistakable Voice that reflects on transitions in life, longings and farewells. The lead single, “Hold On” is a message about breaking away and moving on, “Rush” is about the longing for a lost love, “Another Lover” becomes described as a heartbreaking daydream: “I can’t understand what I’m doing / don’t understand where we going”, Yukimi complains in the first lines.
“Sadness” is about how you think about someone but time reveals a different face. “Where You Belong” is a lullaby of fear of loss and Death. But there is also room for optimism! “New Fiction” is looking for this place in which you can create new narratives and find your own way, and “Are You Feeling Sad” is a reminder to step back and don’t worry too much: “you’re gonna be alright / don’t worry don’t worry / things gonna turn out fine ”.
Btw: “New Me, Same Us” is Little Dragons sixth album and their debut album on Ninja Tune!

Interviewer didn’t even know the name of their album. HORRIBLE… and rude. These interviewers need to do their homework
Really though !!!
The interviewer looks huge compared to them!
This is a good interview, but everything around it looks awkward.😅 The tiny chair and her position versus Yukimi & Erik on the couch together in relation to the camera makes the interviewer look huge!
I feel sorry for the interviewer, she struggles (a little bit) with English so her manner was somewhat awkward.😢 I just wish she'd given them an equal amount of attention. I don't think I've ever seen an interview where Yukimi was this quiet.
Seeing them all trying to find the best way to describe abstract ideas makes me again realize how frustrating limited the English language is.
That poor woman doing the interview. I’m embarrassed for her.
