Never had a Coleco Vision as a kid, I had the Atari VCS and later MSX computer as well as a Spectrum at the time. I recognise many of these games from both the Atari VCS and MSX. The VCS versions perhaps not quite as nice but still very playable. Adored Time Pilot and was always playing that although I think that was later on the C64, a clone version called Space Pilot I think

I remember seeing a Colecovision in our local Debenhams and it was running Donkey Kong. I had a Voltmace Database at the time so the Colecovision looked almost arcade perfect. It wasn't until much later that I finally got the console and apart from the controller being a bit cumbersome, it is a nice machine. I think the modern 'homebrew' titles are really impressive.

@@NorwichRetro I do remember the Voltmace Database, I saw many adverts for it as a budget console choice. They were amazing times, the birth of gaming really and just seemed so exciting. In Yeovil we had a store called Denners which sold the Colecovision and saw it but never played on it. I later learned it had the same graphics processor as so many other computers and consoles like the MSX, the Memotech MTX, Einstein, Spectravideo SV318 and I think an early Sega console or home computer. Also the Texas TI99/4A is I remember rightly. Most also had a Z80A processor except the Texas of course. At the time I was always buying home computers that came my way cheap.

It was definitely a cheap alternative, which is probably why my parents bought it. We had a passable version of Space Invaders and a shooting gallery game, and being able to play games at home was a big plus (although I could only use a 14" black and white tv). It wasn't until I left school and worked in a games shop that I really had a better choice.
