Retro Gaz Plays - Plunderball (Philips CDI)
This may be the strangest pinball game ever released. Plunderball is an average pinball game that has a fmv narrative running through it. At various times during the game, everything stops and a window appears in the middle of the screen with cheesy dialogue from one of actors. This title appears to have been released in 2002 and is worth playing just for the strange concept.

Retro Gaz Plays - Micro Machines (Philips CDI)
Просмотров 821 час назад
Here's some gameplay from the Philips CDI version of Micro Machines. Although it is seen as a weak title on the CDI, I think it isn't that bad. I've played it on the Amiga and Megadrive and this version is okay. Maybe not as responsive or smooth as the others but with a pad it works well on a system that didn't have that many quality games. What do you think?
Retro Gaz Plays - Hotel Mario (Philips CDI)
Просмотров 1914 дней назад
Another of my gameplay videos on the Philips CDI. This one is a rarity as it is one of the games featuring a Nintendo character that wasn't bad (unlike the certain 'Zelda' games, ahem!). Apparently there was another version of this game in production, called Larry Grayson's 'Shut That Door!' but I haven't been able to find any trace of it. Shame! The footage was taken from a real Philips CDI, r...
Retro Gaz Plays The Apprentice (Philips CDI)
Просмотров 1021 день назад
In this video I play the first level of The Apprentice on a Philips CDI. This was one of the better games on the system and although probably not much better than an Amiga game (but with CD music), at least it wasn't full of FMV or pre-rendered backgrounds. This was played on a real CDI (using the Philips joypad) and captured via an OSSC on an Elgato HD60 Pro.
Retro Gaz Plays Sega Saturn

Another of my gameplay video, this time it's 10 titles on the Sega Saturn. These are all played on a real Saturn, connected to an OSSC via RGB scart and then captured on a Elgato HD60.
Casino Leisure Centre 2007 (720p version)
Просмотров 186Месяц назад
Short clip of the downstairs at Casino Leisure Centre on Goode Street, London. This is a 'retro' basement arcade. Although not all the cabinets are original there are some great games. Produced as part of my 'Summer Break 2007' article on www.retrogamers.org. This has been re-uploaded at a higher resolution as the original version has suffered a strange audio issue.

This is a small walk-through of my retro collection, filmed in 2020. It covers all areas and I talk a little bit about some of the machines and games featured.
Retro Gaz Plays - Road Rash (Sega Saturn)
Просмотров 38Месяц назад
Hi, today I'm playing EA's great motorbike racing game, Road Rash. This was one of my favourite games on the Panasonic 3DO and it plays better on the Saturn. This title got me into bands like Soundgarden and Therapy. I normally do better when playing this but a lapse of concentration sees me fly over a car just as the cops are on my tail. Woof woof. I am playing the game on my stock Saturn, con...
Retro Gaz Plays - Galactic Attack (Sega Saturn)

Hi, today I'm playing Taito's vertical shoot-em up 'Galactic Attack'. Also known as Layer Section due to the feature of being able to shoot enemies on the same level as you as well as targeting rockets on ships below you.. I am playing the game on my stock Saturn, connected via scart to an OSSC.
Retro Gaz Plays - Rayman (Sega Saturn)

Hi, this video features Ubisoft's super-cute scrolling platformer - Rayman. I am playing the game on my stock Saturn, connected via scart to an OSSC.
Retro Gaz Plays - In The Hunt (Sega Saturn)

Hi, this video features Irem's tough horizontal shoot-em- up 'In The Hunt' on the Sega Saturn. I'll put my hand up and admit I had to use a couple of continues as it get's pretty hard quickly. I am playing the game on my stock Saturn, connected via scart to an OSSC.
Retro Gaz Plays - Keio Flying Squadron 2 (Sega Saturn)
Просмотров 82 месяца назад
Hi, today I'm the incredible cute platform/shoot-em up game 'Keio 2 Flying Squadron' by Victor Industries, released on the Sega Saturn in 1996. The game did moderately well, gaining scores of around 75% in the gaming press. I am playing the game on my stock Saturn, connected via scart to an OSSC.
Retro Gaz Plays - Tempest 2000 (Sega Saturn)
Просмотров 163 месяца назад
Hi, today I'm playing Jeff Minter's awesome version of Tempest on the Sega Saturn. My first experience of this game was on Atari's Jaguar and this version is just as much fun (and a little easier to control with a better controller). This was captured on a real PAL Sega Saturn fed through an OSSC.
Retro Gaz Plays - Nex Machina
Просмотров 23 месяца назад
A playthrough of the first three worlds in Housemarque's great tribute to Robotron 2084. Considering that Robotron's original designer, Eugene Jarvis, was a creative consultant on the game, it provides a tight yet modern version of the classic 80's game. Nex Machina was released in 2017 and this is the Windows version.
Retro Gaz Plays - Moose Life

Playing another of Jeff Minter's amazing shooters, this time it's Moose Life on the PC. This game was released in 2020 and is described as a 'trance shooter'. It has Llamasoft's signature selection of psychedelic graphics, crazy sound, and plenty of nods to classic games. Love it! store.steampowered.com/app/1342740/Moose_Life/

It's amazing, because i was born in the early summer of 1983, and i have seen the Philips CD-i games for the first time on a finnish 🇫🇮 TV back in 1994. I did see some CD-i games once at a former flea market in Espoo, Finland 🇫🇮, but never bought them. Also, i have to admit, that i have never seen the original hardwares of the Philips CD-i console. Not... even... once! PLUNDERBALL looks cool. It reminds me of TIME SCANNER on the Commodore 64 and Amiga 500. Also, you played retrospectively excellent 😺👍🕹️. A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
Thanks. I try to share games that are a little obscure. Glad you enjoyed the video. I've got another video coming up that covers many more CDI titles.
Wow! Just Wow! What a collection of memories right there.
Cheers 😀
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Retro Sega Games !
Doesn't seem very busy... It makes you wonder how they stay open... unless of course it's a front for something else?
I think it's long gone. My visit was 17 years ago (wow, it was really that long).
Cheers 😊
Nice move at 2:38. I’ve always loved this game NEVER knew the apples acted as barriers, geez! 🙈
This is another brilliant example of games Saturn is better at playing than PS1. I rented the latter back in the day and it looked great but it didn’t run, it crawled.
The Saturn was made for games like that. People may have complained that it was weaker at 3D games but for 2D it really shone.
This port seems to play awesomely well.
I'd only played the 3DO version back in the day, so this one feels really smooth.
is it me or has the audio for this video went weird all of a sudden though?
Yes, something has gone seriously wrong. I'll see if I can re-upload it. Thanks for letting me know.
@NorwichRetro thank you
This is such a great video as you filmed every machine. I got transported to my youth for a moment there. Thank you for keeping this gem up. 🎉 👏🏽
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I had a pretty good Atari 800XL setup back in the mid 80s. I had the 800XL, the 1050 and a 1010, I also had the Atari Trackball and a few joysticks. I had a large disk, tape and cartridge collection and I sold them to fund the purchase of a Commodore 128......It was probably the biggest mistake I ever made with regards to a computer purchase as I never had anywhere near asmuch fun with the Commodore as I had with the Atari.
I know what you mean. Many computers and consoles came and went but the 800XL was the only one I held onto. Even after all these years, I still enjoy the classic titles and with homebrew games being released each year, there is always something new to be try.
Cool. Though it was different
In a good way?
I used to love Time Pilot back in the day and would always look for a home computer conversion of it on any computer I owned. I seem to remember there was some good versions on the C64 and BBC B. Great times.
Space Pilot on the BBC Micro was a great version. I've also played a homebrew version on the Atari XL, which is great although the sprites are a bit too chunky.
I use to play all these games when I was kid
Great skills bud 👊
Cheers mate, I really like that game 😀👍
Absolutely love my Atari 800xl it's such a good computer, the games are awesome.
Although it was my first 'real' home computer I owned, it's still the one I always go back to. Playing these games for the videos was great fun and brought back some nice memories. I have two more Atari videos waiting to be released.
Isn’t this the origin of the polybius game? How has this not been seen by more people?
It might just be that fabled game.
It was cool to use a game controller like PS4 controller or nintendo switch pro controller connected to Commodore PET
Can Commodore "2001" series accept linux?
Hi Jelena, I'm not aware of a version of Linux that was coded for the PET hardware. The C64 has a version of Ubuntu and Commodore OS was a flavour of Linux released for Commodore machines (pcs I think).
Where's the Donkey Kong-like game in the thumbnail? I don't see it in the video (click-bait?)
Hi, it was supposed to be a teaser but the game never arrived. Such a shame really, if they had used machine code it might have worked out.
@@NorwichRetro Bummer. Some pretty impressive use of PETSCII graphics here regardless.
6:51 I don't know if this game has in it or you could code it. Hold down the SHIFT key to move 2-spaces left or right instead of just one at a time.
Space Ace pilot looks good
Hi Gary, nice video! Fascinating to hear about the recent journey of Norwich Retro Gamers. All the best 👍 Frosty
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.
Appreciate this :)
in dungeon if you get stuck in a room, you can hit the shift key to walk through walls.

So Glad this Arcade has now got rid off old Arcade owners Russel if you ever won he would bar people. It's now owned by the owner of the Mint Arcade.
Is this now the Rubbish Gold Rush Arcade.
This is when Arcades used to be really good. No robbing ticket games.
as you have to pay to get in, do you need to pay to use the games?
No, once you've paid for you wristband it's free play on all games.
are all these raspberry pis running mame or jamma boards?
Raspberry Pi's? Ouch.. 😊 No, they are all original boards, some are Jamma of course.
😂😂
looks great, Cant wait to visit.
Definetly worth a visit, plenty of choice and some real classics. They have had some additions since that video was shot. I think I need to practice my Mr DO! highscore.
@@NorwichRetro Will be there in a few weeks, have told the Mrs that if she and our son gets bored they can go shopping and ill stay inside all day :)
@@highjim7778 it's surprising how quickly time passes in there 😁
Donkey Kong Slideshow: I WANT that game so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's with the donkey kong in the title picture? Can I haz more information?
Unfortunately it was a 'proof of concept' but never moved past the teaser screens.
@@NorwichRetro Oh nooooo!!!!!
Wait, did the toy company Leapfrog made this game console? That pretty new for me...
Did this place manage to survive the pandemic?
Thankfully, yes. Infact, it has managed to include more cabinets and has moved into a single-floor unit just across from the original location. Can't wait to visit it again soon.
@@NorwichRetro any plans to get some pinball tables put in? Iron Maiden do a really amazing one with lights and sound effects it would certainly fit in with the rest of the 80's vibe you're going for.
@@Fireglo There was an Pacman Pinball in there. The problem with Pinball tables is, no matter how awesome they are, they take up space and can be a challenge to maintain.
considering the limitations of the PET the games looks nice, RUSH got even a kind of parallax scrolling. wow!
It is impressive that people are still designing games for such an old machine but what they are getting out of the PET is truly amazing.
Awesome! Pet was the first computer we had in school. It’s what drove my love of computer’s.
We also had Pet's at our high school and was taught BASIC on them. We had a couple of educational 'games' on them but I never realised how much fun they could be for playing games.
@@NorwichRetro yep, that’s where I leant basic too!

Hi Matt, thanks for watching and for adding the running times. 👍
Looks cool. Even before or during COVID, whenever I've been in an arcade or a games expo, I''ve always carried hand sanitiser with me and so when I've broken off for lunch or even a few minutes downtime outside, I'll wash my hands just before, and I'm good to go... although I wash my hands after I've just been :)
Gary, I have been documenting the program for this game, and have made numerous visits to look at this. It has been a great reference, thank you. Did you ever see a snake on the yellow median?
Unfortunately not but I never played it for long. Now I have found the cart again I'll have to play it more.
Some nice gear there. Thanks for sharing 😁😉
Cheers Steve. It's taken 25 years to reach this point and in another 25 years I'll still be adding to it. It will probably fill two rooms by then. 😉👍
I had this console and this game, really enjoyed it.
Liofa. It was one of the better games on the console. The sound, although quite annoying, did create a sense of panic as the creatures started chasing you.
Still a great arcade ten years on.
I know this chap very well, had many a deal with Paul top bloke and an old raver,no idea where he's gone, went over to visit him one day, shop had closed, last time I saw him,he bought all my Star Wars episode 1 collection off me,Paul if your out there still love to catch up Marc

T'was an excellent port of Frogger. I had this machine (both the original Waddingtons Videomaster version and then later Voltmace branded version) and this was one of the best games in the library. I now have several consoles (in various states of repair) and a good collection of cartridges (again in various states from almost mint to 'bargain bin'). Munch & Crunch is also up there in my childhood memories!
Pong and Computer Space are great historical pieces as far as games they're extremely dated.
1:05 nostalgia!!! holy cow!!! :'D i used to go to a holiday camp and by the entrance they had a ddr3 machine, it used to play that song every time i went in!!!!!!!!!! i loved that place (sadness)
