Guys sorry for the confusion on the conversion from tablespoon to teaspoon…. For the calimagic use 1/2 of the amount of fertilizer. Whether you use 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon. I use 1 teaspoon of 20/20/20 to a gallon of water that’s my weekly dosage. I will be adding to my 20/20/20 1/2 a teaspoon of caliMagic
Dear Blanca, I am soooo happy with this video ; how SUPER INTERRESTING !! I happen to use both regular fertilizers he mentions, which makes me happy !! Never believed the "msu madness" !! But indeed, it is interresting to know we need to supply extra Ca/Mg is summer !! So good, keep up the good work !
Hi, thank you for this video, very informative. One question, if you have slow release fertilizer in the pots, should you also fertilize with the spray fertilizer or is it too much?
Good info. Would you and/or. Nelson and Laz consider walking us through a typical week or month of orchid maintenance for your orchids that are grown outside as well as inside? I am newly addicted to orchid life and need all the help I can get. Thanks.
Thanks. I had watched that and the info was good. I am more interested in the day to days schedule for watering, fertilizing, fungicides, etc. I am moving my collection from indoors to outdoors in a shaded tent shade tent. And would like a heads up on what IM to expect as far as maintenance. I live in the Fort Myers area. Thanks so much for your help.
Awesome. Thanks for this. I have this exact CaliMagiC. Never used it because I was told to be careful because I will crazy murder my orchids if use this with the wrong fertilizer. Now I know I can use it with my general fertilizer. Thanks!!!!!!
OMG I have had several new growths turn black over the years, always thought Black rot even tho I use Banrot. Thanks soooo much for very informative video. Will be looking for Cal/Magic at Redlands.
1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons I believe you all said 1 tablespoon = 2 teaspoons. Also love this information for the amounts. Can you clarify if the amounts if your orchids are not outside to the elements. I have mine on an outdoor patio that is not exposed to rain and are potted. Thank you so much for this great video!

@@blancasorchidgarden thank you Blanca. Sorry to cause more work for you explaining after that amazing video but I wanted to be certain. Can’t wait to go tomorrow to get some and of course will end up with lots of other goodies.
Yes, thank you. It is 3 teaspoons to a tablespoon, 2 tablespoons to an once. Basically the rate we choose is 1/2 of the supplement to the fertilizer applied. It is not only the outdoor exposure, but the extreme heat. If your conditions are temperate then you would need to use less supplements such as Cal-i-magic. Because the plants are depleting their resources less.
Thank you so much for this good video. I am fairly new to orchids and tried then outside in south Florida with not much luck. Would perhaps you and Nelson and Laz consider doing.”A Week in the Life of an Orchid Collector” emphasizing your watering-fertilizing routines including your outside as well as inside orchids.
I sure wish he was wearing a mic, I can barely hear him. Have tv volume up to 40 to just hear his comments. I've also never used cal- mag or Cali- Magic. But I do use Super Thrive once a month with my mini's. I do grow indoors under LED lights in a large wardian type case. I also use Grow More brand feeds and have ever since they came out. Awesome food and great results with all my orchids and houseplants.
This was an excellent discussion! Thanks Blanca for making it happen. Now the only thing I’m confused about is kelp. From what I heard, he distinguished between kelp and Superthrive, and kelp is a fertilizer not a supplement like Superthrive. So does that mean it shouldn’t be mixed with a 20-20-20 fertilizer, or is that ok? I’ve been using kelp for about 3 years and my orchids have never done better - it even made orchids bloom that hadn’t bloomed or thrived for 10 years! But I have been mixing it in the same sprayer as my 20-20-20. My question: should I stop mixing them because it might be double-dosing on the fertilizer, and instead use them separately on separate days? I’d love to know what the OFE experts say about that. Loved this video ❤️👍
I’ll send them this or hope they log on and answer you soon😝 my take on it is that super thrive is a supplement. I also use kelp mixed in with my 20/20/20 let’s see what they say ☺️
This is from Chris… Kelp is a root enhancer No a bloom fertilizer It is ok to mix it with the fertilizer It is a good additive to use when you just repot or just mounts plants Superthrive has a bit of kelp in it It is a good idea to use it every time you fertilize because it helps with the development of the toot system So a good root system , most of the time you have a nice strong plant
This message is from Carlos- Rule No. 1 Do not argue w success So basically Don’t change anything if you are getting great results with what you are currently doing
Mary is right. Volume wise, 1 Tablespoon equals 3 Teaspoons. So I am confused. So Cali Magic March through end of summer, then stop in winter. Superthrive year around. Did I get that right?
I just wanted to make sure I was hearing things correctly with the calculations. I wondered if it was supposed to be 2 tablespoons for the 6 gallon container which would = 6 teaspoons which is what you would want if it was 3 tsp=1Tbsp. I am going to head down to OFE tomorrow and can't wait to add this to my orchids. The explanation of how it factors into the mix as a vitamin with the food really helped me understand why I use certain things. I really appreciate the video from Blanca with Carlos!
I always use teaspoons so my measurements when using 20-20-20 is 1 teaspoon per gallon of water so to that I would put 1/2 teaspoon of the calimagic… sorry for the confusion I spray in my sprayer 6 gallons at a time
@@blancasorchidgarden Thanks for clarification. I use a dropper and put 14 drops of Calimagic per gallon with my 20-20-20 fertilizer (i teaspoon). Always enjoy hearing from Carlos of OFE. Bought several items from them since first hearing about them on your RUclips channel. Thanks for taking time to do the video. Very helpful.
I bought CALiMAGic and Chapin. Today I mixed 6 tablespoons of fertilizer and 3 tablespoons of CALiMAGic in the Chapin container and sprayed the orchids. What surprised me the most is the fertilizer from the bottle sprayed out very very quickly. Within about 3 min all the fertilizer was gone. I don't think 6 gallons came out of it. What did I do wrong OR is this how it works ?? I hope I did not over-fertilize my orchids.
I slowed down on all my additional calcium and magnesium feeding. a few (like two, a vanda and a arangis) plants had the size of their leaves decrease alot but increased in thickness. One vanda seedling looked like a little succulent and only after 12 months of stopping all additional calmag feeding it getting back to normal. I will try use it in more moderation this summer (I am in the South Africa). Question - Vandas losing leaves in winter, is that a fertiliser issue seeing as I cut back or just the cold?
After this 'infomercial':) I'm going to return to using Cal-Magic & Super Thrive ! Being 100 degrees (here in Memphis) my poor Orchids need all the help I can give 'em.
people need to remmeber that growing orchids is based on your growth zone , some supplements may be needed more than others depending in the area light exposure and especially once you leave the tropics or sub tropical areas.
Wow It’s too much for understanding and remembering. I try to listen and at the end I don’t know how to use which one for my orchid, maybe because English is my second language.😢

when you opened a new bottle of cali magic, did the seal have this weird indented hole in the center as well on the seal?

What is the best way to supplement for calcium specifically? Is the best option “Cali-magic”?
liquid supplements are absorved more readily in solution. Water solubles equally well when properly dissolved.

I have never had to set anything on the Sprayer I use. Just fill it up to the gallons line and start spraying 😊

My zygopetalum leaf tips are turning brown. Can I use this product to save the leaves? Thanks
Can I use it in all the orchids or only specific ones?
