    I have just taken up casual archery. I’ve completed my introduction course with some complimentary comments from my coaches.
    I have also watched lots of instructional videos here on RUclips, most are good, even when most of the messages are very much the same.
    Yours, however, is common sense, logical and really helpful to a novice like me. I will take more care using your checklist technique. My main aim, excuse the pun, is to try to make my arrow grouping more consistent.
    Thanks for your videos, they really do help, and l’ll let you know of any improvement!

    May your arrows reach their goal.

    I got interested in archery recently and found your videos. I used a lot of your tips in my first few lessons and it has had awesome results and really accelerated my learning and made it fun right out of the gate. My instructor is gonna set up an ILF bow for me next time to see if I like it or not. Might be buying my first one next time. Thanks for the help.

    This is the best beginner checklist
    1. Throw away Recurve
    2. Buy a Compound bow
    3. Put the dot in the middle
    4. Punch trigger
    5. Collect medal

      Thank you for this humorous checklist. There are many hunters out there for whom this would be true.
      There are also many compound users out there who also follow a checklist, and no matter the form follow the same basic steps.
      I prefer to use back tension for my release. My instructor does get a bit miffed if I punch it chewy.
      For me I find Centering myself helps. It’s partly why I do it. The zen of it.

    Hello NUSensei, Thank for taking the time and making these videos for us, very good lessons. I was searching for videos about how to choose the “right“ arrow for your bow. I did find a few, but they were kind of hard to follow. Is there a more basic approach than going into numbers, i.e., draw weights and lengths? I guess I’m not good with numbers. Have you made any videos about choosing the right arrow? I would also like to learn more about arrow spine and which one to select. I am just a traditional shooter (thumb style). Thank You Sensei!

    I would like to thank you NuSensei, with your guidance I got back into archery and bought my first nice takedown bow, a Galaxy Sage Elite 2. I’m very excited to give it a try.
    I was wondering if you could make a video about shooting with the opposite hand? I always was able to shoot with either hand, although interestingly enough I favor shooting LH and even shoot better like that. But I’ve read that you shouldn’t switch between hands and I would really appreciate your input on it. I’m usually RH and right side dominant so it’s a confusing topic for me. Thanks!

    • @citroenboter
      @citroenboter Год назад

      I shoot left-handed too and I write right-handed. It's just what your body prefers and which eye is more dominant. I have no dominant eye so I picked left as it's more comfortable.

    Ever had frozen shoulder target panic? Can't get my arrow point anywhere near the gold so I keep hitting high, my arm locks up like a forcefield is stopping it from moving down and I hit high. Can't even come in from the side without doing a weird flicking sideway release.

    • @cavetroll
      @cavetroll Год назад +1

      That is a form of target panic. It's horrible but going back to blank bale for a bit and focusing on the steps without a target to worry about helps enormously

    • @Katzekaze
      @Katzekaze Год назад

      do draw holds. draw, aim in the gold, hold for n seconds, go down...repeat ad nauseam. do not accept being stuck outside the gold, if it happens, go down and repeat the whole shot cycle again. you have to literally reprogram your mind that staying in the gold is good.

  • @iamthestormthatisapproachi5349

    I stopped going to archery as the instructors there haven't given me any advice in the 3 months I've been there. The only words they've said is "money for lesson", "stand there and shoot", "you're disadvantaged because you're left handed" and "go and buy a compound bow from our archery shop if you want to get good" with pearls of wisdom like that you can see why I left.

    • @derrickstableford8152
      @derrickstableford8152 Год назад +1

      You might need a different location. Type of bow/archery form are irrelevant to the pleasure derived. Hand is irrelevant. Dominant eye is more important. My son who is right handed uses a left hand bow.
      We found it takes months of basic archery, to then build a base for the instructor spot and lift you up from.
      Remember Archery is easy to start, but difficult to master.
      Come back to it, centre yourself, and communicate your wishes to the arrow in your form. I do 20yard target with my wife. Some days she wins, some days I win. I still consider myself a relative beginner, or low intermediate after 2 years of it. But I love it and appreciate all the forms of it.

      He is not being dark as you've described he's speaking to the vast majority of people that this training is applicable to. People who are disabled will require and different form of training. Don't be an elitist bigot and try to find every mistake in good people to make yourself feel better. Nusensei has said nothing offensive.
