OMIGOD, BRENDON!!! I found the most bonkers kung fu movie for you to review!! You have to do this one!! Shaolin Drunkard 1983 ruclips.net/video/eN0K_5shtSU/видео.html
Warhawk Tanzania's real name is Warren Hawkins and he was an exponent of Nisei Goju-Ryu karate under the art's founder, the late Hanshi Frank Ruiz. As a matter of fact, Ruiz served as the action director for both of Tanzania's films. According to current Nisei Goju-Ryu head and actor Wilfredo Roldan, Warhawk was actually a brown belt when he was making these films. The last he heard was that Warhawk had been living in Brooklyn, but that was many moons ago.
Brandon: "Did everyone in the 70's dress like they owned their own carpet store?" Yes, yes we did. Except on special occasions like funerals, weddings, and disco night at the Elks club. Then, we dressed like we were auditioning for an Italian porno.
Warhawk's real name is Warren Hawkins. According to Kung Fu Fandom at the time this film was made he was a brown belt in Nisei Goju Ryu karate. Unfortunately his current whereabouts are unknown.
"Stand still while I raise my leg in a gesture that looks a little bit like kicking only much slower! Good, now fall down like I hit you!" I hear War Hawk Tanzania's career tanked after he renamed himself to War Hawk The Republic of the Congo.
70's fashion cemented the idea that dressing looking rediculous as possible was actually kind of cool. That fashion trend faded as the last of the great free roaming couch herds of the great plains were hunted to the verge of extinction tho.
Funny enough the name warhawk Tanzania appears to be his actual birth name and not just something he made for the screen. This renews my faith in humanity
That mma dude with war in his name (to lazy to google) stole the thunder I'm afraid. Still the single greatest name in film. Shame he had only 2 movies. Hope he is still kicking so a comeback could happen lol
Literally just seen it. Gotta say it's a really good time. I really don't know why they don't make more films like that. They don't cost a ton and will make u back ur money if u get someone who loves good cheese behind the camera.
That one kick, I haven't seen someone sell an obvious miss kick that badly since WWE. And I think the sound was recording what they were saying at that point, just the guy was talking in Jive Music. 😉😂 Anyways, all and all, you're right, does look like could fit in so bad it's good territory. Thank you.
Rodan looks like a 1970's Theon Greyjoy in a way :P Update: I just looked up War Hawk Tanzania (birth name: Warren Hawkins) and it also stated that the guy playing Rodan's last name is: Roldan. Got to love B-Movie Kung Fu flicks! lol XD
I'd love to see a review on The Watchers, with Corey haim and Michael ironside. It scared the crap out of me when I was 7, but I never knew the name of it. I saw it again in my 20s and laughed at how corny it was, but it left a lasting impression on me
killer ninja kitty clearly this is how Rodan came into existence. He used to be a gangster who was killed by a demon. No wonder Rodan appears from underground in his debut!
I saw this as Gang War on a local channel Saturday Night Horror show in the mid 80's. I remember the Hosts could not believe that a film like this exist.
I remember seeing a poster for this movie at a TGI Friday's years ago. I had never heard of the movie, so it was odd that a big chain restaurant would put up a poster for such an obscure film.
14:08 Face in the electric box! Ouch! Sure Rodan was kind of a scumbag, but I am feeling sympathy pains. That's a rough way to go. Great effect looked pretty good.

This movie is like Big Trouble in Little China meets Dolemite. And I think it’s a prequel to House by the Cemetery. Because Brother Theodore narrated the trailer for House by the Cemetery even the monster in that looks a lot like the monster in this movie as well. I think it’s the same one.
Hey Brandon. Seems unlikely that you’ll see this comment, since this video is several days old, but I still want to say it anyways. Thanks for your reviews and for being so damn great, Brandon. Not only have you enlightened me on way more cult, exploitation, and in some cases awesome movies than I ever thought I’d know about, but you’re also the reason I watched the 1954 Godzilla film, and now want to watch all those of the Heisei series as well. First one I checked out was Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla, if you’re wondering. Now I intend to order the 1984 one over Amazon. Thanks for inspiring me to watch these films!
Does anyone have an idea of what the song that plays in Brandon's end card is? It's really catchy and I just heard it on a completely non Brandon related video but they didn't have the title of it either.

Speaking of sewer mutants, I so hope you will one day review C.H.U.D. (and/or The Stuff). And does the hype man look a bit like a '70's version of Theon Greyjoy?
When are you gonna review Roger Corman's Forbidden World aka Mutant 1982??? Don't forget it's the 40th Anniversary of Alien (1979), and I think this is the year to talk about the best of the Alien Ripoffs!!!! I would greatly appreciate it, Thanks again!!!!
I wish I saw brother theodore's act when I had the chance. My friend got to see him. He sometimes got billed as "the funniest man to have survived auschwitz". His stand up act was amazing. Check out the clips of him on letterman in the 80s
Great review! I'll have to track this one down. Surprised you didn't make any CHUD references. I think the bag lady in the subway connects the two movies.
*Brandon mentions bedbugs* Me: *TRIGGERED* Seriously, I had the things for over a year and it was the worst year ever. They are the absolute worst bug infestation to have.
At last, the kung-fu/blaxsploitation/horror hybrid we've all (apparently) been waiting for!
But it needs a giant monster.
Do Godzilla 2014!!! PLS????

I bet the wardrobe considerations were funded by Brentford Nylons.
@@edwardburek1717 The world is a poorer place without Brentford Nylons.

“Did everyone in the seventies dress like they owned their own carpet stores?”... as a child in the 70s, I can attest that yes, yes they did.
Shag as far as the eye can see! Harvest colors lol.

War Hawk Tanzania sounds like a 70s comic book character's name
Or a 1980's WWF Wrestler
Not since Paul Lynde's Chief Nerr-er-vous Elk called Kirk Douglas "Prickly Pear John" have I ever heard such a name.
Did anyone play WARHAWK on tue PS1 that game was freaken great
He should have been in a Luke Cage comic.
You're daaaaaaamn right!

Whatever happened to War Hawk Tanzania anyway? There was a time when every kid wanted to be War Hawk Tanzania. We had the Atari game.
okay i'll admit it. i googled it xD.
War Hawk Tanzania sounds like a bad ass name that it belongs to a superhero.
Hell to the yes!!
the clothes in this movie are amazing, pity nobody wear those fantastic skirt & suit now.

I Will!...Eventually...maybe...we'll see...

You should do review about another star wars ripp-off: Starchaser. Animated movie from the 80's.
6:45 FUN FACT about the 70's sometimes you accidentally speak in funk.
Those SFII sound effects were a top tier move.
