When you are unable to get outdoors do you find yourself on RUclips watching hiking and camping videos. I know I do. Here are 10 UK based hiking channels I continuously find myself watching. Do you agree with my choices? Is there anyone I've overlooked that you think deserves to be on the list? Perhaps you have a hiking channel of your own that you think people should check out? I would love to hear everyone's thoughts so please leave a comment.
Apart from 'Hounds' and 'Girl outdoors' I follow all of those! 😁 Abbie (I'm old enough to be her Mum) is so warm-hearted and talented with camera and words and a huge inspiration to me. I love the humour and genuine info that the boys bring to their channels too. I hike often alone, I started about 18 months ago to help cope with the loss of my husband-to-be and to build up my confidence, so I really identify with Abbie's wobbles! I love everyone's content, not least of places I'm unlikely to ever get to e.g. Scottish mountains. Going to catch up on the two RUclipsrs I've been missing! Thanks for the great tip off. You're all of you my ideal walking buddies 😃
Nice wee video mate. Some of the channels mentioned are pretty much my 'go to' channels too. Nice wee tribute to Hermit Hill, he's a sad loss. ATB Martin.
Thanks Martin. Appreciate that. Yup Hermit Hill was a sad loss indeed. Pretty sure everyone I know on the Scottish hiking scene watched his videos at some point.
Great list and video! I'd have had Renegade Scot on there for sure, as well as Haze Outdoors and Step away from the screens, a few personal favourites of mine.
Yup three very good choices there. I could honestly make this list a few times over with the UK channels I follow. Thank you for watching and commenting Roz 👍
Ewan. Some excellent choices. Abbie and Paul are great. Girl outdoors is a channel that I found recently whilst researching the West Highland Way. I live her youthful and un-jaded outlook. Abbie’s video on the WHW is just great.
Cheers Ewan. Thanks for considering my slapdash hapless channel one to watch lol. In with some great channels too (we're not worthy) . Much appreciated!
Thanks Ewan, great video! I do often find that we watch the same videos over and over, some great new names on here for us to check out! Some lovely people out there sharing their adventures, thanks for putting this together 😀
@@EwanGoesHiking there were a couple of couple of complete unknowns that my wife and I will promptly check out. Also a few familiar faces, thought I was watching crimewatch at one point! Tc Ceri and Kat
Thanks for sharing this, I follow most of your list and will add those I don't. A few not on that I like are Step away from the Screens, Wiltshire Man , Simon, a bloke in the woods and Wye Explorer.👍
A great wee vid highlighting some great channels, a few of which I've not come across but will look at now. The Scotland mountains vid you mentioned really is emotional and poignant. I also follow Benvironment, two feet forward and a new channel Justin Whiting. Enjoying your channel.
Great video Ewan, much appreciate your 'tribute' to my channel. I'm glad you enjoy it 😊 nothing serious, just me, my backpack and some great friends to share the adventure.
I love connecting with other hiking channels and outdoors channels around the world. Lets me be places I couldn't otherwise see. Thanks for sharing Just stumbled onto your channel and looking forward to seeing more videos
Great list! I've recently subscribed to Rory Scott's channel, he hasn't uploaded much videos yet but love what he's done. Also, watching Steve Marsh's channel got me started walking. He doesn't do as many hikes as the people you've listed, but I hugely recommend his channel nonetheless. :)
I wish I'd discovered Head for the Hills much sooner. Looks like he'd built up a great channel! So sad to hear of his passing but thank you for sharing, all the same. I will definitely be binge-watching some of his videos over time. All the best!
Thanks Ewen...here from Ireland. Solo Summiteer channel is a really good watch and genuine nice person. I'd highly recommend it. Surely Ireland has ONE vlogger out there ? If anybody knows of one lol let me know..cheers
Good stuff Ewan. I follow a lot of these. The Hounds Guinness event at Inveroran still cracks me up. Paul Messner is a regular watch as is Andy, RIP. Give walks with Wallace a swatch when you have a moment. Oh, and congrats on your subscriber milestone.
Thanks Ewan - what a great idea - I have spent ages in lockdown looking at and then rejecting some pretty dodgy channels so good to get some recommendations. I would add “My 24 hour adventure” - Jonathon is new to wild camping and it’s a new channel but he has wonderfully philosophical approach being “of a certain age” and learning to love the outdoors Thanks again and keep the videos coming 👍👍👍
Some good choices there Ewan and a really good video topic. I really got into hiking channels on here during lockdown. My 2 favourites are Andrew Beavers. His wild camping based channel is one of the few where I’ve watched all the content. My other favourite is Dean Read. He’s one of the original RUclips vloggers. Nothing fancy to his editing etc but I could watch him all day as he’s a natural behind the camera. Watch his Pennine Way and Cleveland Way playlists and you will see why. It’s absolutely brilliant. Dean’s content has inspired to set up my own channel on here and plan my own multi day charity hike across the Cleveland Way which I’ll be vlogging next month.
Ewan Goes Hiking brill. Let me know what you think of Andy and Dean’s channel. Both should have many more subscribers in my humble opinion. Pleased to see your channel growing as well as it’s well deserved 🙂
I would recommend: TA outdoors he’s a top bush crafter highly skilled in the craft and a really good guy. Good detailed reviewer of equipment and instructor. His dads a top bloke too his channel is TA fishing. Another top guy is ‘Simon a bloke in the woods’ very experienced woodsman and survivalist. He’s very modest too for an obviously highly skilled bush crafter and craftsman.
Yeah I love TA Outdoors. Guy really knows his stuff and the production value of his videos are top notch. Simon, a bloke in the woods is a great channel too. You've got good taste in bush crafting channels John 👍
Because of this damn virus, and getting over surgery (never rains but it's horizontal, and cold) I do the walking vicariously; so this is a welcome list. Physical exercise yes but, as important if not more, as you mention Ewan, the mental health gets a boost. Pottering down to Tesco doesn't really crack it. I suppose I could stand in a cold shower with my heavy weather kit on for the real experience....
Glad you liked the list and I hope you recovered comfortably from your surgery. I don't think my shower is powerful enough to simulate some of the rain I've encountered whilst out hiking. XD Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated Chris.
Just been catching up with some of your videos. This was a great thing for you to do and I’ve seen some of these channels before, they’re all outstanding. Sad to hear about Head for the hills Scotland, thoughts go to his family. Subscribe to your channel now and will check out the couple of channels I’ve not seen from this! 👍🏻
I'm just starting out myself. I enjoy Paul Messner too, but not sure if you have discovered Dean Read or Gareth and Zoe Wildcamps. Some of your selection I will definitely have to give them a view. All the best mate
Hey Ewan, I really liked this video, there was some channels I hadn't yet come across yet and I now look forward to watching. Also glad to see you making videos again And as you asked, I recently started my own walking/wild-camping channels, which you'd be very welcome to check out. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to make it onto one of your future top 10 lists :)
Sorry for the delay, only just came across this comment. Thanks for the kind words and good luck with the channel. (I dropped you a wee sub btw) 🙂 All the best, Ewan

Nice list! Head for the hills 😢 I was so sad. He was so nice to me and I’m sure to many others. So funny and likeable! A real loss.
Sorry for the late reply Mari. Hope you're well.
Yeah the loss of Head For The Hills is still so sad. At least we still have his videos I suppose.
Cheers Ewan. Thanks for considering my slapdash hapless channel one to watch lol. In with some great channels too (we're not worthy) . Much appreciated!
You're welcome mate (and you're definitely worthy) 😊
Simon, a bloke in the woods is a great channel too and cooks some fab meals.
Haven't seen too many of Simons videos to be honest. Will need to watch more.
Thanks for the suggestions Lesley.
All the best, Ewan
Nice informative video, I already watch most of these, and I agree Murray’s emotional close to the heavens video is an absolute must watch. 👍
It really is on another level. So moving and heartfelt.

Walk with Wallace definitely one to check out if you like Scotland's mountains. It's what got me started on watching hiking/camping video's.

It's crazy to think we'll never see more Head for the Hills videos. So sad.
