You totally forgot THE BEST PART about cavalry sword. Ypu can couch it like a lance with unlimited uses AND it keeps going after hit, so you could charge at 5 people in a row.
Yes, this is the unique special of the cavalry sword. I'll be going more in-depth on that weapon in its own video. I didn't want it to take up too much of the video which is more based on the horses themselves
One kinda important thing I learned about horses is that (at least with some weapons) you cannot cancel the battlecry animation, so resist the urge to scream. Horses are cool, and its a shame that not all maps have them.
new maps (Bridgetown in particular) also have not just cavalry as a bonus thing like "oh look you can also use horses here" The Tenosian cavalry actually plays a vital part in the first part of the map, in taking that damned first bridge. Without the shocktrooper-power of the cavalry to clear the bridge, the Tenosian infantry is going to lose their momentum *real* quick on that bridge, leading to a near instant loss
I like the fact that they start the map on a bridge leading to Bridgetown. It's like a meta way of developers saying if you can't take a simple bridge, you wouldn't be able to take bridgetown. But provided that the Tenosians take it, now they have to rush all the way to the town gates in order to keep that momentum to win. It's certainly a map that plays different from the other maps like Darkforest. Rather than a linear straightforward path to the Duke, it's a snowball on a hill that gradually speeds up it's pace if they can push forward from the first stage.
@@ythandlename exactly. Dark Forest is technically also a B-line right to Fogbern Keep, but the Masons have a lot more time to just calmly do their business at each chokepoint. Tenosia at bridgetown needs to build up momentum and *keep* that momentum. Each moment the Agathians put up even the *slightest* hindrance in that speed is a crippling blow to Tenosia. I've even noticed it a little of late in Montcrux, where Agatha has to keep a similar momentum between breaking the wall and opening the portculis. If they take too long scaling that wall, Tenosia will muster up a very strong defense focused on a single point. They need to rush it as soon as they're up there, drop the extra ladders down and keep the tenosian spawn doors locked tight. ...but often times the portculis is where the siege is halted if the Tenosians are being aware of their surroundings.
Speaking of Bridgetown, I remember playing a match of the map, on the side of Agathians. On the first bridge my team, one-third or half of the team were made up of footman engineers. They just kept putting up spike traps and barricades against the invading Tenosians and their cavalry. While at the same time, the other Agathian knights and vanguards would flank the sides of the bridge pushing the Tenosians back. I've never seen such skillful master craft defense and overall teamwork displayed on Chivalry II. Also, had archers both longbowman/crossbowman behind infantry and bridge, laying down a enfilade of missile fire. All in all, ultimately winning the match on the first part. Because in most cases from my experience, playing as the Agathians on that map usually leads to defeat after the failure of defending the bridge. A good defense, leads to a good offense.
@@spenceramey406 sounds like you had a good commander on the field then! Or.. something happened to make people work together like that - but moments like that are what make playing the game worth it. That feel of being a piece of an actual coordinated formation, turning a defense into a counter-offensive is such a rare thing, but so amazing
Glaive is also awesome on horseback. It hits quickly and has a lot of range. The only downside is the minimal damage. But the multipliers on horseback make up for it. So basically you got a weapon that swings as fast as a one-handed weapon, has almost as much reach as a spear, and hits decently enough.
I'm horseriding fan in chivalry 2, so we are exist. I like use heavy mace on horse because i almost always hit heads without even trying, feels almost like baseball + cricket. Also some peasant weapons just dont work on horse i couldnt hit once with pitchfork on new map riding horse
Great Video. I have a serious question: I use an Xbox controller on the Epic version of the game. And sprinting on horseback straight up doesn't seem to work and I'm pretty sure the front kick with the horse doesn't seem to work either. Are there some specific requirements to make it work or is the game just busted in that regard? Because I'm pretty sure the controller is fine. The buttons work on everything else.
Nice video, was wondering when you were gonna do a full video on the cavalry sword? I know you said in your last video it was bad, but I think you might have judged it a bit too quickly and was wondering if you've had more time to try it out. It has a unique playstyle where the length and shape of the weapon lets you catch people in the back when they think they're blocking you, and it's overheads are good for catching people in the feet.
It's not bad, just mid. But it's amazing on horseback! I've totally tried it out a lot more and it's already one of my favorite weapons. The next video will be a Heavy Cavalry Sword weapon academy
@SoterDave Awesome! And yeah it's definitely not top tier at all- it's maybe B at best, and that's assuming the person using it is really skilled. But it's just fun and satisfying imo haha
@Soter Dave, can you make a video going in depth into initiative? I can’t quite grasp the ins and outs of initiative and figure out who has initiative during a fight.

The less time to "Burn The Village" immediately after that bridge, the worse it is for Tenosia, so this feels right.

Why are there games where I never get the cavalry prompt one time?
Cavalry wave doesn't activate unless there are dead horses. If none of the cavalry players' horses die, there will be no cavalry wave.
