  • Did a little test with 2 guitars. Used almost exactly the same settings in Bias FX for both guitars.
    Want to know all the plug ins I used? Write and ask :) Check out my band after phoenix on spotify, tidal and iTunes!

    I agree!
    I have an older PRS CE22 and love it. It beat our my Custom 22 hardtail. It's a great sounding guitar with the amazing Dragon pickups.
    My CE22 is similar in build to a Suhr Modern, maple bolt neck. My CE22 is also made from Alder. I am not a fan of ultra flat fretboard so I prefer PRS to Gibson, 10-12" radius.
    I actually prefer my PRS singlecuts over the Custom 22, hence why I sold my Cu 22 and bought more singlecuts. My PRS guitars also prompted me to sell my SGs. I've settled on Les Paul's and PRS singlecuts and my CE22.

    I am a PRS guy myself, but Suhr makes a KILLER instrument. With 2 guitars like this, it really just comes down to personal preference. If you do your part (performance, amp, set-up), both these guitars will deliver.

    The PRS just sounds a bit more refined. Nice work! Thanks for sharing. Cheers! ~ Jeff

      PRS also WAY more expensive than Suhr. You can get Suhr Modern FR for 2-3k and PRS same version is 1-2k more depend on woods used.

    After 15 years playing guitar, I have only 2 electric guitars: a Suhr Modern and a PRS Custom 22. Both are incredible guitars: perfect sound, perfect construccion, hardware, pickups... But I prefer the sound and the playability of the PRS too.

      Hey Manuel. I totally agree. Perfect guitars in different ways. These days I only play Prs :). Regular custom 24 being my favorites, but I want a cu22 as well. That neck pickup sound is amazing..

      my favorite PRS is the 24 fret Floyd Rose metal version if I was to ever get into PRS guitars.

    • @thornsound2890
      @thornsound2890  6 лет назад

      Actually my other custom 24 without the Floyd rose and with the hfs pickups sounds a lot better than the cu24 Floyd with metal pickups. They sound a lot better for cleans and more crushing for metal. Ironic, but they sound heavier

    This is same as comparing blue vs green, both are beautiful and in tonality both can sound almost identical with envelopes/EQ, but that defeats the purpose of what makes them beautifully unique. You need both because what really matters is, no matter which guitar you pick up it will inspire you to create something uniqus that the other might not, and have fun!

      That is very true :) I sold the Suhr though and bought more Prs. To me prs sounds and feels right for my needs.

    What pickups are in the PRS?
    What do you think about the flatter fretboard of the Suhr?
    I know a lot of shredders like Suhr but I favor PRS and Gibson.

    I like the neck better on the Suhr than the PRS and have played both models. Ended up with a Suhr and love it. Only other guitar that I think would be great might be a Vigier or custom BC Rich guitar. At least for metal, rock and blues work.

      Well, it is impossible to not love a Suhr :) Thanx for comment!

      Indeed that is why I bought mine of all the high end guitars I played, no regrets. Surprised not many rock stars have Suhrs, why? I see a lot of metal rock stars with ESP guitars now and Gibson/Fender.

    • @thornsound2890
      @thornsound2890  6 лет назад

      Suhr is less known than the big brands, much more expensive and not that many shops sell them. People tend to buy what they have heard about. Maybe they will sell more and more. For rock I would say Suhr is as good as it gets. For heavier styles than I prefer prs.

    • @modularben7421
      @modularben7421 6 лет назад

      depends on model- my Suhr Modern Satin Pro was same price with discount as the Fender Stratocaster American Elite 2k guitar and way better playing guitar. I get decent crunch on my Suhr and with amp have no issues. I was not impressed with PRS but that is just me.

      Suhr wins hands down easily. PRS is prettier and has better looks but I much prefer the necks on Suhrs.

    Can you tell us about the feel which neck feels softer and easier to play

    • @thornsound2890
      @thornsound2890  7 лет назад +1

      Hey Mark! Well, they are both awesome. The Pau Ferro neck on the Suhr feels really, really good though and super easy to play. You “feel” the wood much better. I also think soloes are easier on the Suhr even with the longer scale. The Suhr makes me play more playful and technical, while the Prs makes me go with heavier riffs and chords. Maybe because the fingerboard on the prs feels slightly bigger?
      The Suhr is also up for sale soon. Only using prs as that has become my “sound”

    • @marklynch403
      @marklynch403 7 лет назад +1

      This is the so true , the Suhr makes you feel aggressive to attack but the prs gives you that heavenly vibe. Pls pm me with price you asking for the Suhr. markmlynchprs

    That PRS sounds a lot better. More grunt and balls in the tone. Suhr makes great playing, feeling, looking guitars but many of them to me sound anemic.

      The Suhr is excellent for all styles really. The pickups are very aggressive, yet incredible for clean. Maybe even better than the Prs actually for cleans even. I still prefer the Prs though. Mainly because of the feel and the thick, massive tone!
