I'm a motion graphics designer and I'm really curious as to how they made the lights fly in like that back then. Do you know how they created/animated this graphic?

The animation was done by (defunct) Zeppelin Productions of New York City. It is cell animation and done quite the same way as Walt Disney and Warner Brothers animation but more precise and time consuming. All Star Wars influenced. The company produced a lot of of IDs for New York and Boston stations including Storer Broadcasting.
The music is from the now defunct Telesound of San Francisco.
