- Kanye West is becoming known for his concert rants. Earlier this week, Kanye West shared a few controversial statements with his fans. First, he endorsed Trump and said if he voted, he would have voted for Trump. We recognize that it is Kanye's right to vote for whomever he chooses, however, many in attendance booed him and didn't agree with his statement. The second comment featured a clip over a minute long where he's telling black people to just accept that the world is racist and to stop talking about race so much. We talk about Kanye's comments in this new Ask Segment. DEHH Writer, Clarissa Brooks @ayyeechloe also joins in on this question as well.
Today, another rant leaked of Kanye taking shots at Beyonce and Jay Z over video of the year award that is rumored to go to Beyonce for her "Formation" video. That occurred after this video was shot and it was not discussed here.

I am sorry, but I am sick to death of a lot of DEHH fans giving Myke all the credit. Everyone here had good points. There was no "decimating". What are you even talking about? I feel like some people who always praise Myke aren't as concerned about his points, but rather the way he is, and the manner in which he says things that resonates with them. Again, I said "some" not "all" so if that doesn't apply to you, that's good. Don't get me wrong, I think Myke does deserve credit, sometimes I think he's really on-point, but the others guys are too.
In this video especially I think Feefo had a really level-headed approach. I think Kinge was actually right in trying to say that's it's okay to discuss Kanye's art and still make a conversation about them disagreeing with something he said. Sophie was onto something when she was pointing out the separation between the artist and art. And the other girl (sorry, I don't know her name) had a few on-point things she said as well. Same with Rob. Beezy was silent here, so I can't make a comment about him in this one.
Myke said some good things too, but just like the others he said some iffy things. For instance, I disagree with the fact that DEHH should stop talking about Kanye's art just because they made a conversation and got mad at something he said. Talking about Kanye's album would be more-so supporting art discussion and entertaining the fans than supporting Kanye. And you can still be mad at something Kanye said and still support him. That's completely okay.

Please take the time to read this, carefully, not to argue but to understand.
I am not American, I am a South African but as a citizen of the world I often make it my business to stay updated with geopolitical issues, so I am aware of the Race issue which continues to plague America and the world as a whole in fact. I am also aware of how having Donald Trump as President of America is making a lot of people uncomfortable (to put it mildly).
I would however like to provide some context to the statement made by Kanye West about Race. As a South African, I live in a country that is fundamentally characterized by racial relations whether it is pre or post Apartheid. Living in South Africa has taught me that Racism does exist and it is very real at many a social and institutional level however Race is not the biggest issue. I've learnt that focusing on Racism will do less for your progress and well being. I am not saying that Racism should be avoided or ignored but it shouldn't control the manner in which you think. Many of the issues faced by Black Americans are not solely Race related, they are more class and power based. Here's an example
In South Africa, power was handed over from white racists to black people but injustices continue to prevail in the country, maybe even more than before, not because the Government is Black but because the government has lost touch with the needs of it's people.
I don't know if the core of my message will be understood but maybe this quote from Nobel Piece prize winner Toni Morrison will provide better context than my own words;
“The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being. Somebody says you have no language and you spend twenty years proving that you do. Somebody says your head isn’t shaped properly so you have scientists working on the fact that it is. Somebody says you have no art, so you dredge that up. Somebody says you have no kingdoms, so you dredge that up. None of this is necessary. There will always be one more thing.”
So my interpretation of Kanye's statement is that he is saying to all of us as Black people, LIVE.
