Just fyi like on the vette with NPP exhaust that open the valve they open automatically at 3 grand rpm to allow for more flow through exhaust which allows more power. So its not just for sound it actually has a purpose. So you should leave yours open when you are going to race or get on it special with forced induction you have more air coming in but restrict it leaving if you dont have those exhaust open. Just a fyi.
