Two possibilities: 1. He truly didn’t know a thing, meaning he somehow wasn’t aware of the largest and weirdest cheating scandal in CFB history 2. He was aware and was complicit, perhaps even orchestrated the whole thing. Both are extremely embarrassing in their own way, so nothing exonerates him. Question is, which one is more believable?

Harbaugh isn’t and wasn’t ever a bad coach ; he made Michigan relatively consistent and able to beat the teams they have more talent than almost immediately after his hire. But the switch in performance against *elite* teams after 2020 is odd Dantonio basically beat teams of all calibers, even exceptional ones, and in almost all cases had less talent than his opposition. The only tier of programs Dantonio couldn’t beat was the absolute most elite - Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide
