As a woman who went from curly hair that almost touched my butt when straight, then went to a bob that sat just below my ears- I had this experience in reverse. Now I am fixated on the idea of shaving it.
It's only a matter of time. I need to know. The clippers are calling out to me. They sing me a siren song filled with promises of 5 minute showers and being dry immediately after getting out of the shower. I cannot fight it much longer. The buzzening is coming.

shaving your hair is great and wonderful but i WILL warn you, you'll have to keep doing it often if you want it to look good & the little baby hairs after you shave it are the WORST sensation on the planet
(it's all worth it though because it feels so nice and soft. only part of mine is shaved so its a lot less hair on me which is literally heaven. i'd still do it, but i'd kill for someone to have told me about the tiny hair sensation before so i knew to always shower after...)

It's really interesting seeing just how many guys I've seen in my schools grow their hair simultaneously, and one by one, they all started to cut it again once it reached shoulder length. But me being the transgender girl that I am, this was the perfect opportunity to grow it nonchalantly and I don't plan on cutting it any time soon (still trimming though)
It's relieving hearing a documented story about what it feels like to grow your hair out for the first time because I related a lot with this video! And it also helped confirm my conspiracy that a ton of guys were thinking the same process during covid

What you were talking about with sleeping with longer hair, that's why I sleep with my hair in a braid. I am in the process of growing out my hair longer than it's been in y e a r s, to achieve a certain hairstyle I like. For several years I have been in the pattern of getting my hair cut about every 2 years or so, letting it grow to around my elbows and then cutting it up to my chin, but these past few years (since around maybe 2020? Idk) I have decided to continue growing it out. Right now it's actually around the length where I would normally cut it, but I am persevering!
My hair is also by default just heavy, straight, and flat. My mom says that I have thick hair, but I feel like a lot of people say that, and I don't even really know what it means. Since it gets everywhere and I am ✨constantly✨ shedding, I have my hair in either two braids pinned across my head or just one braid for when I sleep. I cannot stand having my hair down, it becomes this heavy hood around my neck and shoulders and just holds onto heat so I'll just be standing around baking to death bc my hair is down. It's a disaster, and very uncomfortable.
I don't even know what I'll do when my hair is the proper length for the desired hairstyle, I haven't gotten that far in thinking yet lmao

Really fun video! When I was around 13 I cut my hair quite short and I’ve been growing it out for around 6 years now. One thing I realised when I cut my hair short is that I actually have curly hair. Mine used to puff up ridiculously as well, and the solution was to never brush my hair when it’s dry. It made a world of difference. Mine also does the thing where it’s most curly up front and least near the back.

My mom walked in the room and asked to see the video. Needless to say, she was not disappointed

Bro I love my long hair and I never have a problem with my hair getting in my face or in mouth except on rare occasions.
You just got to utilize styling products. When you don’t use them, use hats, headbands, and hair ties.

When I had long hair I either had a headband in or had my hair tied permanently

Solution for the long-haired flip-flop sleeper: just direct your hair up, off the top edge of your pillow, rather than allowing it to sprawl across your pillow.

As a guy who also grew his hair for a good while, basically everything in this video minus the eat-tons-of-your-own-hair then no happened to me. Only reason I eventually cut it was when ever I wanted to even slightly move head while going to sleep, I would have to life my head up, put my hair behind (above?) my head, move my head where I wanted it, then put my hair down. I did manage to get it down to nearly my waist though.

Hair all wrapped around the Dyson vacuum cleaner’s spinning brush thingy.
Hair in the shower drain - gross but kinda satisfying to remove.
Swallowing the follicle is areal thing. As a small child with long hair, I thought that having hair in your mouth and throat a lot of the time was a normal experience.

cutting your hair after growing it out for 2 years is such a mood. me it was 3 years. it would've been longer but I decided on a half headed undercut. then I got mad split ends and decided my hair is long enough and called it at that. got my hair down to where I wanted it. I am going to grow it out again and take care of it this time around. I had a bad habit of just sleeping with my hair tied up and I'd have it like that for the entire day I'm working. I hardly ever have it down. take care of ur hair that's all I'm sayin

I have dreadlocks for about 8 years already, you never loose a hair because when it detaches off your head it stay locked in. No need to go to hairsaloon or buying expensive conditioners + you never need to hairbrush in the morning.
Having locks is so economic and eco friendly.
