Ahhhh you gave away "my" secret weapon, the A Type! Nice demo Pete. Although I have many Celestion IRs and some Ownhammers was not familiar with ML, they sound good. Love the amp!
Killer comparison! Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge of this topic. I use my helix with IRs for 90% of my gigs right now and always love your advice! Keep up the good work!
Sound guys are getting better at making them work through the PA. I’d have never trusted anyone at a local gig even just a few years ago. I don’t care whether it’s an amp into an IR, something like an AxeFX or whatever.
Great vid, Pete. I have some Ownhammer and Celestion impulses. I agree with your take on the difference. The Celestion impulses are a bit more "mix ready". As you say though, they're all doing good stuff and it's not a case of good vs bad but more horses for courses.
Great video! In isolation I liked the Ownhammer Friedman mix 7, full but not dark. It sounded right to my ears but in the contest of a mix I have the feeling I should go with a bit less bottom end than I'm comfortable with (like with gain).
Thanks for answering my questions on the IR’s in the last live stream. I agree with you that I was a little disappointed with the Celestion ones, even the Suhr PT cab was just ok and I’m sure that cab in the flesh is amazing, just something they haven’t captured in the IR. I’ve actually gone back to the stock cabs in my atomic amplifier box and tweaked that and got a much better tone! Just wish I’d seen this video before paying out £30 at Celestion! I’d tried the free IRs that ML soundlab offer and it sounded good, the free OH download was quite an old version and to be fair they tell you it’s not representative of their current stuff but it was awful so didn’t encourage me to buy anything else from them. However always assume that the speaker manufacturer would be awesome so I went to Celestion and they just sounded dull to me. Thanks Pete!
Thanks for the details. I bought the PT 212 from Celestion’s BackLine Heroes collection. I was hoping for a little bit of that cab- especially since the new amp is making an appearance every day. Can you talk about the Hi Gain vs Lo Gain IRs?
Great and informative.... was really impressed with the A Type. Was also good to hear the 2 mic mixes, I tend to just go for the all mic mixes in my Celestion IR packs...... Lesson for the day, Less is More - again🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant video pete .. greenbacks are fav-z. Probably like you say I'm a home player for a deeper sound I also use an original boss octave at times to for kind of a bass effect I've tried vintage 30z but too bright and pitchy for my setup. 👍
But for Import to Line 6 Helix for play Live, what is better to import version ? they Have 44.1khz to 96.0 kHz and inside they Have 200ms version and 500ms ? what version its Better for play Live ? thanks and regards
Very good but a little confuse, i have a Nux Cereberus and i want play guitar in live concert Nux Cereberus we can import IRs with ther softwere but im confused what to use 44.1 khz ? 88? 96 Khz ? And 200ms or 500ms ? Regards from Portugal
I thought they all sounded extremely similar.....I actually favor the ML sound labs older (few years ago) brit family (big pack)....that pack the pr55’s seem a little too dark.....really like the pr75’s in it. Recently got a newer ML brit pack and everything seems to have a little extra top end sizzle that I didn’t really like....and yes, I gig a lot with them in my AX8. Great vid & playing !
PT - Can't thank you enough for the time you spend making all of these incredibly helpful and useful videos for us fellow guitar nerds. I would rather watch your stuff than any crappy Tom Cruise movie any day, ha. QUESTION - I recently found out about St. Rock React IR device and am curious if you have used one and compared to your OX, SUHR (or even Two Notes Captor). I am VERY intrigued by this St. Rock unit and would love to hear your opinion on it. Thank you, good sir.
I wonder what high and low cut settings were used for these IR’s.? Also, Celestion offers 6 different mic positions / which ones were used here? Thanks
Me as well... as I am trying to get a decent sound of any of my IRs, and i do suspect you still have to tweak them quite a bit to get them in the useful range...
Another great video, thanks Pete! Do you also prefer this mic combo for live use or something else? I know everything tends to change at stage/FOH volume.
Hey Pete, the bigger thread "Skeptic" made seems to be gone (don't know if you deleted it, or if he did). Either way, this video was a big help to me (I'm looking at some Celestion IRs to purchase this month). So thanks for making this video (and hopefully I didn't offend with my longer "novel" posts. I was just trying to help (probably shouldn't have said anything).
Good comparison - yet i feel a disconnect when you switch from the original IR to the next IR. Which is a compliment for your incredible playing - playing off interacting with the particular guitar amp cab combo you’re stuck with at that moment.
Too bad it's really hard to tell if you don't put similar sounds back to back to compare (cleans with cleans, crunch with crunch and high gain with high gain).
Amazing how you nailed that solo every time? Hats off!
Celestion G12 M Greenback 02:51 - 03:37
Celestion Creamback 03:42 - 04:29
Celestion A-Type 04:34 - 05:21
ML Pre Rola G12M 75hz Mix D 05:26 - 06:12
ML Pre Rola G12M 55hz Mix C 06:17 - 07:03
Ownhammer Fman GB Modern Mix 8 07:08 - 07:55
Ownhammer Fman GB Bold Mix 7 07:59 - 08:46
thanks Blake aka Super Mario Bro!
Amazing... even in IR form, the Greenback is my favorite LOL!
Ahhhh you gave away "my" secret weapon, the A Type! Nice demo Pete.
Although I have many Celestion IRs and some Ownhammers was not familiar with ML, they sound good.
Love the amp!
Cool video. I tried the Celestion Lynchback IR too. Sounds amazing.
Killer comparison! Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge of this topic. I use my helix with IRs for 90% of my gigs right now and always love your advice! Keep up the good work!
Great work as always and love the Wisconsin T-shirt, Pete.
Love the A-Type ... killer tone.
great content as always. as a FOH engineer I love quality IR's over a mic'd cab any day. So much easier to mix.
Sound guys are getting better at making them work through the PA. I’d have never trusted anyone at a local gig even just a few years ago. I don’t care whether it’s an amp into an IR, something like an AxeFX or whatever.
Nicholas Totoro yeah a shitty sound guy is the worst!
@@solarpoint1 Doesn't really matter if it's an IR or a mic'd cab in that case...
Great video. Very informative.Whatever the IRs you use we can tell it is your signature sound....
Great vid, Pete. I have some Ownhammer and Celestion impulses. I agree with your take on the difference. The Celestion impulses are a bit more "mix ready". As you say though, they're all doing good stuff and it's not a case of good vs bad but more horses for courses.

Some seriously good work done there!
Thanks Pete! Great video as always. Hands down the best guitar videos on RUclips.

sounded killer, Pete!
I bought Fman, I didn’t find any “Bolt Mix 7 “
Sounds killer Pete!
Great and informative.... was really impressed with the A Type. Was also good to hear the 2 mic mixes, I tend to just go for the all mic mixes in my Celestion IR packs...... Lesson for the day, Less is More - again🤣🤣🤣🤣
7 different flavors of delicious.
Pete I assume your a massive van Halen fan. No matter what you use you always get a killer van Halen tone and style to your playing
Brilliant video pete .. greenbacks are fav-z. Probably like you say I'm a home player for a deeper sound I also use an original boss octave at times to for kind of a bass effect I've tried vintage 30z but too bright and pitchy for my setup. 👍
Sounds great!
Ownhammer the best
You made me get the special learning wanting to play feeling all over like I'm 16 again. Wait that came out wrong
great video thanks

hye pete..can you make a video demo using Nux Solid Studio (verdigo series)? i really want to hear you nailed that pedal..
I guess i like his Voice more than any IRs///!!!
I’d like to hear an ownhammer vs ml sound lab shootout of similar cabs like their respective Marshall, Mesa, Friedman, Orange IRs
Sounds great! Thanks for sharing!!
Very good but a little confuse, i have a Nux Cereberus and i want play guitar in live concert Nux Cereberus we can import IRs with ther softwere but im confused what to use 44.1 khz ? 88? 96 Khz ? And 200ms or 500ms ? Regards from Portugal
I see you are using the bluguitar IR unit in background
I liked the MLs
Very helpful comparison. Does anybody knows if there are Jensen IRs out there?
The winner here is the amp. All IR’s sounded great in their own right. Just depends on the musical situation.
I'm sold.
I thought they all sounded extremely similar.....I actually favor the ML sound labs older (few years ago) brit family (big pack)....that pack the pr55’s seem a little too dark.....really like the pr75’s in it. I use St. Rock React IR - it is great. RUclipsrs do not comment any products they are not affiliated with. So use your own ears)
Pete... can't help but notice your newer guitars are direct-mount pickups. When do those become available good sir?
I liked the first two IRs the best! Great demo man!
Hey Pete I have I'm Buddha 4 X 12 celestion Greenback cab what's your thoughts on that set up
Ownhammer Fman GB Modern Mix 8 Friedman Cab is the best to my ears, but it sucks with my Strat...
I wonder what high and low cut settings were used for these IR’s.? Also, Celestion offers 6 different mic positions / which ones were used here? Thanks
I'd like to know too.

No V-type!?
I bet Pete spoon feeds his amp impedance when the cameras aren't rolling.
OWN rules ! PT15 great amp but it is more expensive for an single 15w head
Nicola Matera name another high quality head that has built in reactive load and IR loader, that is cheaper.
Sweet Jesus Pete I cannot keep up
What does IR mean ?
Impulse Response
Check out some of Pete´s other videos where he explains what it is, and how they work. It is a very interesting technology.
The ML pack (PR55 inmy case) doesn't come with a description list, can you clarify what the MPT stands for? Thanx in advance ;-) Is it Pete Thorn?
Hey Pete, I just bought some Celestine IR’s. What in your opinion is the best rate? Love your channel and style
A-type all day.

MusicHyde if it bothers you that much, time stamp all the dirty parts. Then flick between them.
@@adamr8878 Thanks for your message, how do you time stamp ?
MusicHyde just type in the time. Dirty starts at 3:04 etc
Hey Pete thorn in late!
I felt bad for 3 people that hit dislike so I joined them 😂
