This song is about what lead singer Esther Okai-Tetteh's grandmother used to tell her. She would say something like "When I die, don't worry about me, because I'll be drinking wine on Venus." Those words and how Grace & The Hodge Podge have translated them into this song, are incredible and very powerful to me. I can barely even THINK about this song or explain it to someone without crying my eyes out, especially if I'm describing the meaning of the song WHILE I'm listening to it.
I first heard this song when they performed it live in Napa, CA. It had such a powerful, emotional, spiritual affect on me, at the end it felt as though we needed an alter call :) I was able to tell Esther how I felt about it the moment she walked off the stage. She seems to be such a sweetheart. The song is about what Grace's grandmother said to *her*, not Esi.
3:11 I really like the space she left here. It's almost like she's playing backup for someone else to solo over. Takes guts to leave that much void in a "solo".
Got to meet Grace with my 12 yr old granddaughter, a budding young bass player in Camden for a local festival. What a lovely young lady and incredible guitarist. Great band❤
What a legend in the making. Grace has the talent, looks, individuality, and all of the special ingredients it takes to make...a legend. I'm a seasoned player, and she really has her own style. Her style is a little bit Clapton...it's a little bit Bonamassa...but it's also her own style. Love it!
This is some really Soulful music from the ❤ . Love me some good ole Grace and her amazingly talented band. Keep the Soul wanting more Grace. Beautiful stuff 🤘😎🤘
Jimmy kim.el is ba ck , makes my night show, welcome bac k jimmy🎉🎉🎉 you are the only one that can tell the truth about the gold hair man. Missed those fu ny jokes😅😅😅😅
I saw this band before on a video and I remember them not for a song or any music. It's that PLAID/lace/with sequin back dress and patent leather boots! New outfit time.
I have a similar sentiment in that after seeing them preform along with all the newer American bands that nothing really stands out in terms of memorable artistry. If we break everything down from the song structure and lyrics to the bands instrumental skill level and passion poured into it they all rose to a level of “good” or “acceptable” but not extraordinary or invoke strong feelings or emotions into it. It’s almost like they’re playing a cover song of themselves. A song that itself doesn’t stand to the level of the greatest hits American music has produced but is rather built in their image. Idk maybe I’m getting old or jaded to the best parts of the past but I feel American rock in general has long past its glory days and died. Now the next best thing that keeps me listening is J-Rock where the mainstream is full of talented overachievers and their music is not really genre specific but every song is blend fusion of genres organized in a orchestral way the same way electronic music uses classical music theory.
Great performance. But When are Jimmy and Guillermo coming back. With all that's happened with the election, I've been missing his comments, jokes, and his awesome writers.

I was waiting for more than a year of Grace's first album ... like someone other here said: Grace & her band will change the world. For the better. And all band members are outstanding musicians. I am close to think of this band as better than Janis Joplin' Big Brother & the Holding Company. If there were a God I would be sure that Grace is God-sent.

To me, that's what sets her apart. She's remarkably expressive.
Grace is gonna change the world
A wonderful performance. I am delighted and enchanted . Great music. Thank you very much ❤️
Grace is so young and making her own way! She’s awesome 🎸🔥❤
My BFF's son is Grace's BFF. Grace is a total sweetheart, humble, and so so talented. 🎉🎉
She's a very talented woman! I'm blown away. Like a modern day Nina Simone ❤
Any weekend affairs I hear they are nasty
Overwhelming ☮️

Love the guitarist's "Cher from Clueless come patent leather and lace rocker chick" ensemble.

Great guitar playing! My other reaction is "don't step on the cable!"
Heed her guitar strap. In addition to being magnificent, she understands the assignment!

The singer is awesome. What's her name?
Grace is the guitar player. Who's the singer?
Esther Okai-Tetteh or Esi (how ever that's spelled correctly).

KIMMEL WAS HUNG LAST WEEK @ G.I.T.M.O
She has a long way to go on the guitar, and the vocals need to be autotuned.
Billy's money well will run dry seriously
More like grace bowers and the woke Podge
Absolute nothing interesting about her playing...pentatonic jibberish
