So I watched both video now. While the traditional wasn't too hard or fiddly to do, the idea of using my rice cooker is very seductive, so I ask: if I use the rice cooker, will I be sacrificing taste? Will they come out tasting tannic or at all bitter? Thank you so much for your videos. I am a fool for mochi and I never dreamed I would like red bean paste so well. I nearly broke our checking account last year buying mochi everywhere I spotted any, so this year I decided I must learn to make my own or give it up! Ilive far too far from any reasonably priced sources and love learning to cook interesting recipes from other countries. I'm sure I will find many other interesting ideas from your other videos. With respect and gratitude, AR
Thank you so much for watching my videos. You won't spot the difference unless you are making sophisticated sweets such as Yokan using Koshian (smooth red bean paste). which requires a delicate smooth red bean paste. It would not be bitter. Please check out my other videos for making Mochi.
海外の人多いようなのでコメント英語でいきます。 I’ve been making Mizuyokan on my own and so far so good. Now, I thought that I should try making Mizuyokan using Tsubu An instead of Koshian. Should it be ok with this rice cooker method or I should do traditional way. I’m a lazy cook so less processes/time are better but at the same time I wanna do it correctly. Cuz I ruined them just too many times lol よろしくお願いします🤲
動画を見て下りありがとうございます。You an make mizuyokan with this recipe. Just make sure to cool the mixture to about 40C before pouring into the mold to prevent the anko from separating from water. (Don't cool lower than that as it will solidify). 頑張ってください!
What brand and model number is your rice cooker? Cause mine can’t cook a second time. It has that spring mechanism that turns off the cooker automatically. So maybe will need to use your brand.
the rice cooker won't turn on unless you add more cold water otherwise it thinks the cooking is done , all rice cookers should turn on fine if you add water to the beans and cook again.

would it work if I add 3 times water to beans ratio so I don't have to cook it multiple times ?
The amount of water does not matter. You can try soaking the beans before you cook. Also if the beans are new, you may only have to cook once.

You may have to wait until your rice cooker cools down. Mine is Mitsubishi but available only in Japan I think. Sorry for my late response!

How long does it take in total to cook this?
It depends on your rice cooker. I had to cook twice, so it took about 2 hours.
